Why is nudity more censored than violence?

where i live violence is getting censored... and is  + 16 or even +18 rated. in TV on some level its ps. U cant show violence here as u like eighter.

And i would prefer see naked ppl instead of blood and death. sex is natural, killing someone isnt nowadays.

Maybe thats the reason. Ppl want smg new, smg they dont know. they want adrenaline. Since porn is well known, they want to see smg what isnt as common. Thats why all the war games are as popular.

I think people are more accustomed to seeing murder on their screens or books therefore they are a lot more desensitized to it also nude people have been seen as taboo for hundreds of years thanks to religion and other factors,

It's a bit like comparing apple to oranges but nudity is considered a private and personal thing in the West and people seem very adament about trying to keep sex and nudity as being positive things and beautiful things. People don't regularly engage in violence so it is removed from them but nudity is something that we all take part in and therefore, it is more personal. The history of the West could also play a part. People, women in particular, used to be stripped down against their will and showcased like a piece of meat. Or maybe they don't want the same thing that happened to violence to also happen to nudity, people becoming desensitized and indifferent to the awesomeness of the human body?

 I guess?

I remember a ling while ago there was some shooter and they mentioned he played violent games like GTA and COD and ofc the silly rhetoric of violent games = future killers was played out on the news and shit.

But there was one guest that mentioned the news often showed GTA a lot saying you can have sex with hookers and even blurred out a scene with a lap dance yet they uncensored playerd clips of the character shooting, running over and just generally killing every pedestrian they saw. So he dropped the elephant in the room, if violent games are so bad why are news clearly showing violent parts of the game, itd be like saying porn is bad but showing porn to make that point. The other news people didn't have an answer and just moved on lol

Baffles me. We all see nudity everyday (ourselfs if nothing else) and most of us have sex. Violence can be alot more traumatizing. I can't say how it started but people seem to be so used to it. Even someone punching someone else is worse than a naked body and we see that in TONS of childrens material.

Not a Western thing in particular. 50 Shades of Gray got a 12 rating in France, i.e. for people 12 and older. Europe is much more relaxed about nudity on TV and cares more about violence instead.

Nostalgia Critic made a video this week about how the current rating system is full of BS criteria

Yea, should have clarified that the United States seems that way

the video is pretty funny and I've wondered about that rating system for a while
