December 9th, 2010 was the date of the 25th Golden Disk Awards, where SNSD received the Disk Daesang award for their 2nd album, Oh! That day, SNSD made history. Want to know why? Previously, SNSD had received the Digital Daesang for Gee. Achieving both the Digital and Disk Daesang isn’t something that very many girl groups can do. SNSD is one of the first girl groups to have received both the Digital and the Disk Daesang. During the time that they accomplished this, the K-Pop industry was dominated by males, and all of the boy groups often had higher sales than any girl group to release something. The nine talented ladies of SNSD receiving both of those awards and making history with their achievement may not seem incredible to you, but it really is quite remarkable.

Yep. I became a fan long after this, but watching that particular event years later was a heartwarming experience and made me wish that I experienced it in real time. I exactly remember Taeyeon's reaction after their name was announced as the Golden Disk Daesang winner; they were goofing around like usual and then she had this shocked reaction and then they started crying

I hope this is another "calm before the storm" situation. TTS at the SM building, Sunny talking about a new MV. I'm excited to see what the girls have in store for us Hurry and announce something, SM

 

I'm always looking forward to new music releases from them. It doesn't matter if it's TTS or another subunit, solos, duets, or OT9 (although group release gets me excited the most). Anyway, TTS's "Twinkle" is one of fave Korean release, so I'm all for another one. As for the group, I'm hyped about "Indestructible" ^___^

I was expecting backlash, tbh, but I don't get the accusations as if she committed a crime or did something morally wrong. I'm starting to think that a lot of those angry SONEs are not angry at the fact that Taeyeon is dating but because she is dating an EXO member.

I can't believe they will use Taeyeon's reason for starting up SNS when she obviously made one share things she wanted about her personal life to her followers and she started it loooooong before she started dating Baekhyun. Accusing Taeyeon of "betraying" fans' trust? Of what? Did we have a legitimate agreement that she is not allowed to like someone or not allowed to have it revealed? I don't get why she has to apologize for being caught, I've always hated that they have to say sorry for doing something soooo normal such as dating just to appease the "fans" who expect them to lead the life these fans have conjured inside their heads.

I don't get why we have to compare her to the rest of the girls either. Yoona, Sooyoung, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Jessica, and Taeyeon and the rest of the girls are 9 entirely different people who deal with things differently. If Taeyeon remains silent, people will be begging her to speak out. Now that she did, people are accusing her of betraying the fans. I don't feel betrayed at all. Tbh, I don't like the guy for her, but what can I do when she likes him?

I just wish by the time we get to the next dating revelation, most of those people who only care about the girls' image, popularity, and status will be out and stop caring anymore. I don't care if they amount to half of the entire fandom because the girls don't need fans who would turn their backs to them just because they realized that what they read in fanfics are not real.

EDIT: At this point, it's those fans who SHOULD apologize to Taeyeon. We may be her fan but we are not supposed to stand between her and something she wants and makes her happy. Exactly. How can someone call themselves a Taeganger and then drop her in 5 seconds because they find out a few posts out of her 600 damn posts were dedicated towards Baekhyun.

 

As someone who is a avid and sometimes overly defensive Taeyeon fan, the thought of other fans who supposedly loved her as much as me being THAT mad to where they won't support her anymore is just insane. 

 

I mean WHAT exactly are you stanning her for? Is it her voice? Because everyone knows well that her singing isn't going to change. Is it her personality? If anything being in a relationship will make her more happy! This just doesn't make sense to me. Everyone in the fandom knows Taeyeon has dealt with a lot of issues basically starting in 2012 and it just disgusts me that people would rather he lonely and miserable than happy and in a relationship. 

 

I personally think the whole "We're not mad that you're dating thing!" Is so bullshit. It's an excuse so you don't look so bad for ditching someone. Who would honestly and rationally ditch Taeyeon for dedicating less than 10 posts out of 600 to Baekhyun?

 

The only people who I can see ditching an idol they stan over this is someone who spends all their time fantasizing (sexually or not) about having a relationship with the idol themselves in which case, unless they are a kid and don't know better, they need some help. Idols aren't people's toys and sexual objects. Yes, that's what entertainment companies present them as, but fans need to have some sort of grasp on reality and stop feeling so damn entitled. 

 

I find it laughable that they feel cheated by those posts. Taeyeon's IG is for her to share parts of herself to the fans, and those posts about Baekhyun did not defeat the purpose because he is now part of her personal life.

 

To add, Taeyeon has shown how mych she appreciate the fans through all the 7 years of SNSD's existence...but those fans just throw all of those up in the air because they are mad about the fact that she admitted to dating.

Plus she created the instagram in 2013. That was before they were even dating so it's more than obvious it's dedicated to her fans as a whole. Sorry she's enjoying life lately and makes a few posts about the man that makes her happy 

 

And as you said there are many times when she specifically says how much she loves Sones. Sometimes she says general things, but just as many times she talks about how much she loves Sones. People who feel "betrayed" need to get a grip. Maybe stanning idols shouldn't be in their to-do list if they can't do it rationa

I've been lurking for over a year now since I've been busy. But I have to get out of my cave because this is just a mess.

 

First of all, the fans who are hurt, do you. I don't agree with your reasons but I can't tell you what to do or how to feel. So, on your own right, you are entitled to have your own feelings.

 

But, just bear with me, let the anger flow out of you. You're upset because she lied to you. But Taeyeon is only human, makes mistakes&most importantly, apologized for it. I put my feelings aside because I grew to love taeyeon (no homo)  because I am a fan of hers and thus, I want her to be happy not be an old depressed spinster. because that's what all these hateful comments are making her feel, even though ur not mad she's dating, but for a diff. reason, etc. In the end, it's all making her feel like sh*t.

 

If you talk about how you feel betrayed because of those poor innocent oreos, in my opinion she has her own right to do what she wants. But obviously, some fans here don't agree with that&feel like she made it seem it's only for her fans. I get that. So, she made a mistake. Like I said before, she's only human. But now, what's scary is for all these "fans" to forget everything she had done for us Sones throughout 8 years. (Like telling a host once when they were on a show not to call sones bad names, her always being vocal how thankful she is for the love from us&she feels like she doesn't deserve it, giving hot drinks to sones waiting in the cold, etc)

 

Finally, for all the fans who are still mad, just please hear me out.

what I'm really scared of is how Taeyeon is handling this. She tends to handle problems by herself. Even the girls had been vocal about this issue. I'm just scared how much this is gonna affect her, especially, knowing how much she loves her fans (crying at the ny fan meet finding out isones stay up to watch them).

And whole Junsu scandal. Every senior citizen sones knew taeyeon became very different after that, not that happy/bubbly. So even though I don't agree with her choice of guys, I'm just happy if she's happy. We all know how hard that is for Taeyeon when she's know to be down. So hopefully, she won't retreat back in her cave and delete her instagram cuz I'ma burn Korea down..maybe not..but I'll burn some leaves and twigs in my backyard.

 

 

 

Now, with that aside,

if you're really fans, after all that anger and frustration pass, I just pray to Jesus you guys find the reason you guys became Taeyeon fans in the first place. It was either her talent, her caring gestures to fans, her ahjumma-ness, etc. Those haven't changed after she dated Baekhyun.

 

 

 

I'm gonna repeat what's been said over and over since the dating and other controversies started this year: 2014 is this fandom's filtering season. Nothing's wrong if you want to stop supporting the girls, just don't hate them and accuse them of anything they did not do. Nothing's delusional about staying behind and continuing to be a fan either, that's just how we roll.

 

Just like what another user said, we are all entitled to feel what we really feel. I was disappointed, tbh and even I think how I feel about the issue is ridiculous. You can be mad all you want, madness and love are both irrational anyway, but don't blame her. None deserves to be hated just for trying to be happy.

Let's toxify two, maybe 3 things that are innocuous at worst and completely ignore the undeniable overarching window of insight, fun, laughs, sharing etc. etc.

 

Yesterday I was really happy about the whole thing, excited about TTS comeback, the new Japanese MV (maybe even the Vegas photobook wherever the hell that is) but reading the bizarre lines of thinking and entitlement of some K fans has kinda taken me aback.

 

LOL I'm with you. I was super excited about new releases (music-related or not) from the girls. I was shocked by the dating news as well but not enough to make that excitement fade; I was actually looking forward to seeing Taeyeon again after it, curious to see if she will be relieved that it's all out now and happy that her fans (well, most of) are also chill about it. I knew would be backlash, but I was expecting the worst of it from EXO fans' side, NOT FROM WITHIN--and this is what ruined the party for me and hell I don't care if you're a SONE or not, if you're Korean or not. You are not entitled to accuse her of anything just because her side of the story does not match yours.
