I have a rookie question : Are musicals like Seohyun's usually lipsynched or live? Is this live?

sorry never have been to a musical show b4

Musicals are a form of theatrical stage performance, it combines acting and singing and dancing and dialogues with songs to tell a story, the audience are paying good money to buy tickets to see a performance.

It like watching a circus do stunts or a band or orchestra perform their instruments.

You gotta perform live, I don't think anyone would even suggest that a musical be lip-synched. The production team and actors involved would destroy their own career.

Also, you sometimes have a dozen people on stage talking and singing and dancing at the same time , to prerecord their vocals and synch so many people simultaneously  would be crazy impossible.

Not to mention each character usually have 2 - 3 actors playing the same role over the whole run of months , their voices and talking and singing speed would all be different.

Just thinking about synching would give even the most talented producers and recording production team an impossible task.

Which is why even the simplest of musicals requires hours upon hours of rehearsals, with the entire cats of dozens of actors all together. I have the highest of respect for live musical actors becos its not just being a good singer/actor/dancer/performer by yourself ,

You gotta be able to mesh with another dozen actors, show live chemistry, be synchronised with other dancers in movement, sing on pitch with good projection, and still be able to act your role, plus stage positions on cue too.

I tried it before and it was ............. :omgwtf:  difficult. And if one person messes up, 'you try again', the entire 3rd act for example...  :>_>:

And a 2 hour musical can have like 4-5 acts.

Which is why I respect all them Idols who do musicals.

Just a reminder in case anyone forgets,

Its our resident impersonation expert, Goddess of Food and hairporn, witty remarks and legs-that-go-on-forever, cheerful princess , bane-of-all-danshins, height-representative of SNSD, the one who sees everything and misses nothing edible,

Miss Choi Sooyoung's birthday in 5 days time.

I look forward to increasing the number of pics in my Sooyoung folder when that day comes.  :raep:

Yet there are 'teasers' being created for Taeyeon's birthday. We all know how it is.

And we all know how you are.  :unimpressed:

Why don't you grow up a bit instead of behaving like a kid?   :wth:

There are probably Yoonaddicts and Gorjessers preparing teasers and fanmade vids for Yoona and Jessica's birthday in May and April. You wanna bring forward the sarcastic remarks about that too maybe? Hows about adding the Fanytastics preparing for Tiffany's birthday in August as well.

And don't reply to me too, I don't wanna read more of your sarcastic, shit-stirring and pointless comments.

I don't wanna get too excited, becos often, SM teasers have nothing to do with the actual concept and song.

but this is seriously so good and interesting, I gotta admit.

Nurse/doctor Shidae is too enticing and awesome. :ahmagah:

Gorgeous! But whats with the weird thing Sunny is wearing.. :wut:

But otherwise, another set of stunning , killer pics!

I like Sica's the most, even at low quality, I can feel the freeze in her glare.  :lub:

Sunny seems to be liking the trolley's a lot, :troll:       playing with them during the tour must have been influencing someone in SM.

IF this is real, then re-shooting the MV will be costly, time and money, not to mention extra work for the girls.

SM, like really, your technical staff has bungled too many times over the years, like WTF. :omgwtf:

However, The conspiracy theorist in me tells me, its just an excuse,  SM is tryng to give YG sleepless nights. :hurr:

I remember SNSD once mentioned something like, 'Every time there is a Soshi comeback, and unexpected things happen just before the comeback, the result is always awesome. '

DQ was cancelled at the last minute and Gee came out later,

Fire and Blackout during the Oh! MV shoot,

Lightning striking their plane on their way to japan debut.

On the Japan debut showcase day, the whole corridor's light went out as the girls came out of their rooms.

Call me superstitious, but I have a feeling this might be something spectacular in the making.

Yuri said Macau is the last stop for their tour. Why would they called it a world tour in the first place? LOL

Ok, it seems like many Sones don't understand. its not entirely up to SM to decide where to go for their tour.

Lets think for a minute, many Sones have been complaining that this world tour is cheap. Cheap production, cheap tacky costumes, hardly any special effects , no hanging on wires, only cheap inflatable props.

Compared to their previous tours, it is cheap apparently. for a supposed world tour, its not very impressive

But why?

Its to cut cost, but not for SM to save money.

Its to attract your local events company to bring in SNSD's concert to your local city. Making it cheaper means these  companies will be more interested to bring in the tour to their country. Becos then they can make a bigger profit.

Unfortunately, it did not work, the companies in europe, North & South America probably still did not want to take the risk. These companies still think rabid fangirls will only support male groups. They don;t see the massive fanbase of SNSD.

So don't blame SM for this. They know the world is not only Asia and the East/West coast of the US. They know lotsa Sones want to see SNSD in Europe and the Americas. But they can't foot the entire bill, plus logistics are better handled by a local company rather than SM sending people to do it. A local partner is needed.

What you should do is, the next time SM announces another tour, write to your local events company. Go onto their facebook, website, start a petition etc etc. Call them, show them that there are a lot of fans willing to go see SNSD live, let them know that if they bring in Soshi's concert, it will be profitable and worthwhile.

Not so hard right?

Now back to current events, Sooyoung on Instagram! and Weibo! first to get both!

i know about that. I thought that post of mine screams sarcasm i guess it's not. In my country we have done anything including the petitions etc etc and the local companies still don't want to bring the girls. I don't know what to do now. Even 2NE1 got solo concert here and not soshi.

Becos Soshi is in demand, in korea and japan. Holding concerts in korea and japan is easy, the girls spend less time travelling. Even in Asia, its still easy. There is very little loss in terms of time and money that SNSD could have been earning on TV and other stuff.

To travel to further countries means the girls solo work could be affected. Remember, all of them are in demand back home in korea, regular TV shows and dramas, musical, photoshoots CFs  etc

the end result is, its costly to bring SNSD halfway across the world. SM has got to ask for a high price to make it worthwhile. Tours like in Bangkok and Macau, they can go and come back within half a day. Its like going to the countryside of Korea to perform, except they take a plane instead of a car.

As for 2NE1,  no offence intended, but they hardly have any solo work, like CFs, dramas , no long term commitments like Sooyoung's Hanbam. In other words,  they have no loss travelling and spending time overseas. For them, every concert is money earned, since they don't make money staying korea.

For soshi, they gotta balance the losses as well, becos all nine have to go at the same time.

you have problems

besides, i thought it was already confirmed that Trick was INDEED going to be the title track but they changed it to The boys, later?

I don't think there was ever such confirmation from any reliable sources. I didn't even hear a rumour about. This is the first time I have ever heard anyone mention this at all.

Somebody just made it up.

I don't mean to sound rude at all but it's such a pain in the ass to backtrack this thread with all of those pictures on every page.

Most of the pics are already in spoilers. Should be fine and not that hard to just scroll past.

I am pretty glad someone here bothers to take the effort to put the pics, not many people have the time and access to the fan-cammers beautiful SNSD pics.

Imagine if all the pics were gone.

yeah, of course i didn't believe in this but it's really ririculous how people have the guts to write "confirmed" -__-

I hope you do realise that when you go around other places reposting those 'confirmed' news, you are just encouraging these rumour-mongering people to do it more.

If you don't want them to do it , then please stop spreading it. The worst thing you can do is to go tell others about.

Thanks.

Really, SM?

After waiting more than a year, fans and public are anticipating,

and you mess up multiple times for this comeback. ............... :omgwtf:  :omgwtf:  :omgwtf:

Delays, reshooting of MV, then lost data, and now this???  :horror:

Damage control now, and hope over eager fans don't spread it everywhere.

The mount of hate the album is getting on this site is fucking phenomenal, I have seen countless threads bashing the girls and spewing venomous words about them.

Especially Bjs, holy shit I mean if you dont like it that is okay but not outright hating and bashing, fuck that. Then we have these same morons telling that us sones try to start shit or that BJs are bullied in past threads, apparently they forget when they become ugly hating bitches themselves.

No matter, I will stay silent for now and wait till both groups have their respective MVs out, but after that I will go hard on them hating assholes and make the foam from their mouth from all the trolling I will do on their asses. At that time the bullying will be real...................................................

I see it as a good thing. The deeper the fear , the stronger the hate and the harsher the words.

When haters go all out, you know they are scared. becos they foresee Soshi slayage.

A good song and comeback brings out the fear and hate. If the song was truly bad, they will be mocking rather than attacking.

Soshi slayage strikes fear into the antis.

Calm down Sones.

We should consider many things before we get stressed over this 'war' which is not really a clash at all.

basically, like some of my BJ friends analysed the situation, BJ are desperate, they see many signs of YG putting 2NE1 on the backburner and focusing on winner and the new YG girl group, and 2NE1 had a really lackluster 2013. They know this comeback has to be a big success for 2NE1, or else 2NE1 will be seen as sliding even more down the Girl group rankings.

YG also sees this which is why the keep playing this 'clash-of-the-top-2-girl-groups' media play, to drum up the support from 2NE1 fans.

Also, according to my BJ friend, their fans have hardly spend much money over the least few years; digital releases are cheap, so they have been waiting for a physical album since 2011.

Simply put, 2NE1 is digitally strong, but that is their only strength in the field. So if their company focuses on the media play and releases the song to time it so that they can have an explosive release and push Soshi of the top of the digital charts, of course they can 'claim' victory, so to speak. Victory in an uneven battle, not to mention, a temporary victory.

Longevity in the charts is far more important.

Put it this way, 2NE1 is primarily a music-release Idol group, which is rare in Kpop. They don't do variety shows, drama/sitcom/movie acting, or any other general entertainment industry activity, they aren't really active even in the CF industry.

What this means is, their company and fans will focus all their 'bullets'  and firepower in the digital charts, so allowing them a good chance of winning the digital front, And the long physical-album drought also means there is a push in physical sales as well.

So I won't be surprised if they do appear to do better in the charts and even steal some music show wins, since the shows seems to favour points from digital sales more nowadays

But even if 2NE1 were to somehow win this clash, all they will have done is reclaim lost ground, ground they lost over the last 2 years. SNSD is so far ahead leading the pack that , it will take multiple comeback where 2NE1 has to constantly beat SNSD again and again for the general opinion to change to recognise 2NE1 as the same level as SNSD. Fat chance of that ever happening, if YG has to do all this just for 2NE1 to have a decent chance in this fight. As for 2NE1 being ahead of SNSD, that will probably never happen.

Consider this, 2NE1 has no presence in any other korean entertainment field except the music scene. But SNSD is everywhere in the korean entertainment world.

So at the end of the month and year, SNSD is still going to be far ahead in general public recognition and popularity, far ahead in the Gallup Polls and Forbes rankings, far ahead in total combined physical-digital sales, far ahead in the CF/photoshoot count, far ahead in the awards/records count etc etc.

To summarise,

IF 2NE1 win this clash,

they would have reclaimed lost ground and staved off the challenge of Sistar breathing down their necks, they can go on a few more years and their fans can heave a sigh of relief. As for SNSD nothing would have changed overall, their lead is so far ahead of the pack and in so many different areas ( acting variety , TV CFs etc etc ) that 2NE1 can never hope to catch up in. Unless YG start letting them do dramas and variety shows.

BJs will become the most annoying fandom in Kpop for a while though.  -_-

IF 2NE1 and SNSD were to come out more or less even,

SNSD will come out shining as it would be seen as Soshi brushing off a challenge from the only serious competitor left in Kpop, they would solidify their position as the #1 Girl group, managing to stay even with their challenger despite the messy comeback and YG's constant media play and  coming up with cheap tactics to win.

2NE1 would be okay, coming out on par in a challenge with the National Girl Group is still brag-worthy and attention grabbing.

If SNSD were to triumph,

then SNSD will be seen as having finished off the last potential challenger to the throne, their crown will be even more secure and their position as the National Girl Group will be totally unquestioned.

Sones might become the most annoying fandom in Kpop for quite a while though.

The future of 2NE1 however, would be worrying, YG would probably focus more on his newer projects.

So you see, Sones do not worry. SNSD has nothing much to lose, except maybe some shine and a slight road-bump on their victory parade.

2NE1 , like their tour says, All Or Nothing, literally has to go all out or else, their future is worrying. They have everything to lose.

I feel like YG is giving his girls an ultimatum, 'win this or I will give you scraps'. I dislike him a lot :unimpressed:  I am not a fan of 2NE1 , but his way of handling things is just ....

Plus, SNSD seems to be doing real good so far, with all this mess from SM and no MV and all. I am confident this will be a great comeback.

The good

All the girls look gorgeous

The nurse/hospital theme is great

the garage scenes are good too.

I love the suits and

Potential dance performance can be seen.

The moves look simple, but elegant and tasteful, nothing too complicated to mess up singing, and still interesting enough for choreo

The bad,

I guess SM really lost some data

the combined effect of the re-shoot plus the old footage does not mesh well.

The editing and effects were ....... rushed.

All in all, still a very good MV, if only becos the personal charisma of the girls held it up. Little credit to SM this time, only the concepts and themes can be credited to SM this time.

And the backup dancers were totally unnecessary.

Another thing is, I'm probably the one who thinks this but the mv is supposed to look like that because we're seeing the view  from the Mr. Mr. (the guy) their patient- And the guy is what? mentally unstable? sick? migraine? ill? hallucinating? while recalling his moments with them. he looks like he is in an evil/satanic/weird hospital and they're messing him up.

Therefore, to me the styling of the mv is intentional and artistic.

Just my opinion.

You might actually be right, I never thought of it like that. I guess when the girls finally gives him life, he comes back and dances with them?

At first glance, it would seem like the choreo is lackluster , not the bombastic, big-movement kind of dance choreo in IGAB.

But , I was careful to go into the video with zero-expectation, and watching it from a pure new fan/ordinary Kpop fan point of view,

I can safely say, the dance is more intricate and precise, sort of like Mr Taxi kind of dance, with lots of hand actions,  wrist twists and subtle head movements and turns etc etc

its quite different from The Boys or IGAB, its like they are going back to Hoot/Gee days.

And I like that.

The last two years, they have been doing more powerful choreo, to impress and excite , to gain new fans. And these fans will probably not expect this kind of choreo.

We all want SNSD to go higher and show everyone they are the top and the best, so somehow, we expect this comeback to be super awesome.

I personally am very happy. Sure, the choreo could be more 'exciting' , but this is more of a middle ground where the vocalists won't find it too tough, and the dance line can challenge themselves to impress in a subtle and slick way, instead of the usual bombastic, easy-to-impress high energy movements and 'cool' moves to impress the young fans.

Its harder to impress with simpler , but more subtle dance moves. I think it s challenge the girls should face at this point in their career.

Basic formations may be less impressive, but requires more teamwork and harmony, big movements involving the torso  and legs can be easy to time, smaller movements with wrists and flicks are much harder to time.

I look forward to seeing them pull off well executed in-sync moves and of course,

To see the vocalists do great singing, something I found slightly lacking in the last 2 comeback, probably due to the more exhausting choreo.

Korea and Kpop needs to be reminded of the awesome vocal prowess of the five vocalists in SNSD, especially the new international Kpop fans, many who have yet to see the singing skills of TaengSic2NyHyun .

Thats one thing I love about SNSD, they change with every comeback, never do the same thing twice, which is why I had a feeling this comeback will be a quite different style from IGAB. Bringing in new fans instead of preaching to the converted, I can see why some Sones are disappopinted, but Soshi will be able to expand their fanbase with every comeback becos they are versatile.

But one thing I definitely do not like. The part in the middle with the girls dancing around that guy , .. totally unnecessary .

It all depends on the camera work I guess. Who we see more and who we focus on, remember, the audience see what they all want to see, we however , see what the cameramen and producers show us,

The dance formations are slowly getting attention, nice.

but they need to change the outfits so that the backup guys don't have similar colors as the girls, its ... confusing. :._.:

IN any case, in all the excitement, I am sure many forgot, Taeyeon's birthday is about 24 hours away.

I think my new favourite part of the song is right after the dance break part,

When Taeyeon is singing her high part, Yoona & Sooyoung are right beside her singing their support parts

and the same thing when Tiffany is singing her part after this, Yuri and Hyoyeon are beside her singing their support parts.

This is good arrangement on the choreographer, having those supporting singers right next to the main vocalists when they sing the high parts means there is a good chance for all 3 to be in the camera shot.

Otherwise, the supporting vocalists could singing their parts at the back or some corner and we would never see them sing it.

Kudos to Music core cameramen and PD for showing the 3 persons shot instead of just c closeup of the main singers.
