Somehow, someway, I endured.

Other than the first 30 sec Gossip Girl preview, I have yet to listen to any of the other leaks or previews.

I am resolved to do this so there will be no preconceived 'line-distribution-bias' or 'assuming a 30 sec part can decide if a song is good or not'  or any other such errors in judgement that comes with previews and/or low quality leaks.

 

I wanna do full justice to Soshi's efforts.

Its killing me, but I wanna wait until the full release before I enjoy the songs. If the girls can put so much effort into making the songs, I can wait a little bit more.   

And in case any one forgets in all this excitement, its Yuri's birthday in 2 days time.

I think a lot of people don't get the 'fan' thing. As much as your idol has a career, from pre-debut to rookie to veteran to fading popularity to the 'end' where he or she will be hosting variety or fully into dramas that might happen every year or two, YOU, the fan, will have a career.

 

You start with, OMG everything my idol does is perfect and everything is perfect and love is the world. Then you start seeing things to make excuses for. OMG, the stylist HATES her! OMG, wtf is that costume? OMG, what is this music? THEY ARE RUINING MY FANDOM! OMG, what? The company won't let her be all that she can be??? OMG, the shippers are shit. OMG, why can't they train her to speak perfect English? EVERYTHING IS SHIT!!

 

And then by the end, you are a sad, sad, bitter little victim. o.O Is THAT what you want to get out of being a fan?

 

Realize that you're stanning someone from another country. Accept that. You're stanning someone who WORKS for a company. That company will make decisions, surprise, NOT IN A VACUUM. To YOU your idol is everything, but to the company, your idol is a property and if that company is smart, NOT the only property they own. And it IS an ownership of sorts. That contract they signed, and re-signed, means that decisions in her career don't include YOUR (the fan's) personal wishes and wants. That's reality.

 

So really, the only decision you get to make wholly in this experience is how bitter and burned out you'll be at the end of it.

 

If, as a fan, you're disappointed and resentful at THIS point of the girls' careers, careers that have been by any measure remarkable in k-pop, then may I submit that YOU (the fan) ARE DOING IT WRONG.

I hope the few people here who are bitter and upset and wants SM to do what YOU want and move the girls career in the direction YOU want, can wake up.

The last 20 pages had people writing whole text walls of how THEY want SM to collab or buy songs or hire composer and make MVs the way THEY want. How they want SM to produce music and MVs and all.

Its all in your head, castles in the air. You are just writing down the Ideal careers of how YOUR fav Idol should sing and make the kind of music YOU like and have a career YOU like. Might as well go play one of them Idol management simulation games.

 

You are not doing yourself, the fandom, and even the girls any good. All you do is get your hopes up, ( when SM has never even given you reason to hope for music like that ) , built more resentment and bitterness when things don't go the way you like.

Their is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your fav Idol, but if it reaches the point when you are bitter and actually unhappy and dislike what they are doing, then its time to step back and cool down. Reevaluate.

Are you a fan of what SNSD is actually doing now or have done before,

or are you a fan of what you think they should be doing to please you.

 

Don't live in your head. Live in Soshi's world.

So there I was, trying to stop my tears from falling watching Nam Da Jung cry and drink after hearing her dad's impending death...

then seconds later, I am laughing my head off seeing her crazy antics after waking up in a police station to a furious PM ...

then barely seconds later,

I am trying to hold my feelings of retching after hearing and seeing Nam Da Jung throw up at the roadside..

 

and one minute later, I am trying to hold my tears again seeing a desperate Nam Da Jung pleading for the PM to marry her.

Bad camerawork, missing Yoona,

and who had that dumb idea of having them perform on that shaking thing???

 

I bet half the time, the girls , especially Jessica, are trying not to scream or croak and trying to control their shaking knees,

They did have much time to prepare anyways.

 

I didn't expect much from this Gayo, at least the girls did their best under the circumstances, and TTS was the saving grace.

I would rather they save their energy and time to focus own their own concerts and comebacks and solo activities. This is just one year-end Gayo, I don't see the need for extravagant special stages, not when Soshi are at this busy stage of preparing for their comeback and all.

Now looking back, I would rather SNSD skip the Gayos, the stages and production sucks like, sooo bad. What is KBS and SBS doing?? SNSD is wasting their precious time there. If the show was good, at least it will be worth their time to perform, but this is just bad.

I won't have high hopes for the MBC one either.

There might be some backlash considering the drama hasn't even finished yet.

But then, for KBS to take the risk and hand her this award, shows that she must have impressed a lot of her seniors and higher up people at KBS. The level of backlash will be an indication of how much she has improved and seen as a credible actress to the public.

For KBS to be willing to accept the potential backlash, Yoona must have impressed them enough and also, they really want PM & I to be challenging the ratings more.

this should be interesting to see.

I personally think the backlash will be on KBS, not Yoona. She has done well enough to redeem herself, KBS gives out some funny awards sometimes, netizens will gripe at them instead of Yoona.

You know , I used to think I love all nine exactly equally in exactly equal amounts.

Then I looked carefully, and I realised I had saved more pictures of certain members far more than other members.

When any of them have solo work, I always watch it and support it,

but when I am free, I realised that I look at the performances and TV appearances and funny vid collections of certain members far more than other members. I look at the fancams of all of them, but after I see them all, I tend to go over repeatedly the vids of certain members.

I spazz over all nine of them, but I spazz unconsciously a little more excitedly and happily when it comes to certain members, and pay more attention to certain members

 

That was when I realised, the heart over-rules the mind. Logic and fairness from the head tells me if should be fair.

But unconsciously, my behaviour is ruled by the heart and emotions. 

I love all nine, but I get more excited when it comes to certain members. This is a fact I cannot deny or prevent.

Total fairness and equality exists only in utopia. the human heart is flawed. Even parents favour one kid a little bit more than another, even if they do love all their kids. I have come to accept that fact.

People will have favourites somehow.

Unless somehow, you are a cyborg who brain and attention span can be programmed to focus and store exactly nine equal portions ....

 

I will say this, we cannot ask/demand/(request for fairness)  support from anyone, we are fans by choice, none of us are getting paid a full-time job to be a fan. As such, people are here to enjoy their stanning and support and fanning of whoever they prefer. People also have limited time and resources to stan Soshi, so we primarily spend more on our favourites, and with no choice left, spend less time on the lesser favourites.

 

Stanning and supporting should be an enjoyable activity, not constrained by rules or unconscious pressure to pay more attention to certain members.

People will lose their love and enjoyment if they have to be told who, or how much, and in what way we can/should support.

Just live and let live, it will be easier and better for the fandom and for our enjoyment in the long run.

If some wanna pay more attention and support certain members more, it their choice and their time. They should not be made to feel guilty that somehow, their hearts favour one member over another more, they can't control it you know.

 

As long as the love is there for all nine of the girls, the proportion and focus should not matter in the long run, not that there is anything we can do to make people love some members more anyway. Their love for the members has to come naturally.

Well it's looking like the comeback is going to be mid to late February or maybe even March...

 

I haven't told the thread this, but I've officially been accepted to study abroad in South Korea starting March 3rd so I'll be there in about a month

I didn't think I'd get to be there for the comeback because I figured it would be sometime in January, but now I'm actually getting kind of excited about them pushing the date back! Is that selfish? I don't really think I'll be able to go to broadcasts or anything like that and probably not even see the girls, but it will still be awesome to be IN Seoul the same time the girls are promoting. Plus...I can actually buy a copy or two of their new album in STORES instead of online! ^^

Be patient people. SM and Soshi has never given us a confirmed date, so lets us trust them yeah?

SM has been pretty accurate when it comes to these things, like in late 2008, they suddenly scrapped and totally cancelled the release and promotion for Dancing Queen, fan and the girls were all disappointed, but then guess what, 

Gee was released instead and we all know what happened.

 

So lets be patient and , what else can we do?

There has been many times over the years which we all wished the girls can get some rest, so give them the chance to rest, plus Seohyun is still doing her musical, I would not want a repeat of 2009 when Jessica lost so much weight doing her musical and SNSD promotions simultaneously.

 

There is always 2 sides to everything, look at this positively. Definitely SM must believe something is not good with the product or the timing, and they do have access to information that we don't. 

I want this promotion cycle to be awesome, so if a waiting can make the end result better, I will gladly wait as long as necessary.
