A thing you haven’t talked about anyone, a thing you like doing nowadays?

This is really something I haven’t told anyone yet, last time, there was something that was exposed to my members. I am trying to learn playing guitar. I’ve only had lessons twice or thrice but, when I have free time, I thought why won’t I use that time to do something. When I am alone at home, since I have that free time sometimes, I thought what should I do with this time. At that time I also try cooking, and tried baking bread but in that case, buying the stuff for it is also difficult, right. That’s why when I thought about what other things I can do, I thought of guitar. And now I’m able to continue practicing by myself, if I learned from a tutor for number of times, then after that I can learn by myself. Learning guitar is step by step. This is really something I haven’t told anyone.

A thing you haven’t told anyone, do you have a weird habit? After saying yours, tell also about other members’.

Hmm, isn’t it Sunny-unnie then. She always bites members, and she also like pinching then pull elbows. And for my habits, my members probably know well about it, but it’s something I won’t know by myself.

That’s right. Since it’s a habit, you probably won’t notice it by yourself.

Yes. But, yesterday, Hyoyeon-unnie’s pouch zipper wasn’t working, so I said try to fix it, then I was holding it for a long time trying to fix it. And then Hyoyeon-unnie, “That’s weird.†“Why are fixing it for a long time?†I suddenly remembered this thing! But, for some reason, the machines, or things that aren’t working properly, things that have broken down, it seems that I like fixing those! So, if there are machineries that have gone “This have broken down†or “This is already doneâ€, there are a lot people around that comes to me and ask me to fix it.
And that time my challenging spirit seems to be arising, such as, to fix it, or what could be done.

Have you found a weird habit by other members?

Tiffany-unnie, it’s a habit that everyone knows well, every time she sees pink she makes it to be her property. This is really from a long time ago (laughs).

- If ever you are to become another member, who would it be?

If it’s only one person, I won’t be able to choose. Taeyeon-unnie’s vocal(laughs), Sooyoung-unnie’s pretty legs,(laughs), Hyoyeon-unnie’s dance(skills), I want to try and obtain that imagery. If I get to be reborn and to be a soshi member, I want to be reborn with all of those in me (laughs).

If ever, when you become a solo artist what kind of music(work) do you want to do?

I want to do Indies music. So whenever I’m practicing guitar, the times I’m playing guitar I’m singing songs I like... dance songs or pop, I do listen to songs like that but, I like quieter songs, ballad or medium tempo songs, I listen well to Indies music too. My goal when practising guitar is to play one song, and I’m also thinking that I have to get better in singing, when that would happen I don’t know (laughs). But as expected, if I’m gonna be solo artist, I’m gonna be doing acting.

Members. When time had passed, since there are not much instances like now that all 9 of us are together even though we are doing the same work, it feels like I’m gonna be alone. If there are 9 members, of course there are times when it’s annoying, and there are also hard times, but later on, I’ve been really thinking that I will miss these moments. That’s why I really want to treasure this moment, cherish it, remember it, I want to do it like that.

Is there a time when you want to quit being Girls’ Generation?

In a day, I think about for a number of times (laughs). Well that’s the extreme though (laughs).

In what way?

When there are times we are woken up at 2AM, just like today we were woken up 4AM today, right (laughs). It’s because we are not the type of people to sleep early. On average, the other normal people will sleep around 12AM don’t they? Like during photoshoots or, specially during filming of music video, there are a lot of times where we have to wake up really early.
And if I think about that, I can’t sleep. I keep on thinking “If I don’t sleep, if I don’t sleep, if I don’t sleep (early)†with that pressure in me, I can’t sleep. That’s why for today’s shooting, I am lacking sleep, it feels like I won’t do well. (That day was Best album shooting)

If you weren’t able to be Soshi member, what would you be doing now?

My friend was an ordinary college student, and is in the year of graduating so I think I would be walking the same path with that friend of mine, right. I think I will be studying in a school in America. In America*, I attended an International School, so I think if I go to school it wouldn’t be in South Korea. So probably I’m studying in college.


If you quit Soshi now, what do you want to do?

Now, instead of saying ‘I specifically want to do this’, I actually don’t want to do anything (laughs). For many years, it was always so busy, there weren’t long vacations. I want to try to pass the day without really doing anything, for everyday. Not do anything, go with what I’m thinking, the things I want to do, this day I’ll eat what I want to eat, this day I want to sleep so sleep only, I only want to do shopping, anything everything, even for one time, I want to try and do things as how I feel. That’s what I think.

If you are to become another member, who is it? Why?

I… Tiffany? Tiffany is really.. she is always so bright. Very energetic, her energy is overflowing. I am the complete opposite. That’s why, I always see her like that for whole day, if I try being her, I think I will be so tired. But if your personality is really like that, maybe it isn’t tiring(laughs). Like Tiffany, I also have a feeling of wanting to be a bright likeable person to everyone but, for me it’s impossible (laughs). But, with bright overflowing energy like that, overflowing enthusiasm, I want to be Tiffany for one time.

 

[Trans] Jessica on becoming a solo artist

If you become a solo artist what music (work) would you like to do?

I want to do calming songs. Ballad is good too, medium tempo, nice feeling songs. Usually, I like bossa nova or jazz genre. When in soshi, isn’t it usually dance songs. Since my voice is rather hight tone, ‘sing it prettily’ or ‘sing it cutely’ there are lots of commands like that. So in dance songs, you would’t be able to show it much, which is unfortunate. During ballad performances, I want to do it with my real ability.

Artist you want to meet now?

Not want to meet but rather, I want to watch live. Beyonce and Jay-Z have been doing tours together in America for a lot of times. So I want to watch that. I really think that couples is really amazing. The synergy when the two of them met is huge. It affects me in many meaning.

[TRANS] YOONA’s THE BEST’S FULL INTERVIEW

 

 

Q: What were your thoughts when you know you will debut as a member of SNSD? 
The members now are companions that trained together with me for 5 years. So to be able to form a group with everyone it still feel amazing and gives me confidence. Of course this also resulted in friends during trainee periods who we can only briefly greet them occasionally. But to be abl e to debut with this friends, unnies, i really feel happy.
 

Q: Have you ever thought of quitting from SNSD?
Times when my body condition was not good. During Japan 2nd tour, my body is really weak, and when this happens, people who are looking at you, may feel that you aren’t passionate enough and lethargic. At that time SNSD’s schedule was really hectic.. even though it is actually more hectic when we first debut, but during the Japan 2nd tour, my body was really weak. In order to regain energy i feel that the only way is to have enough rest, but how do i get rest, since my schedule did not allow me to have enough rest, so i just keep pondering over this.. and i quibble over this with my manager. If i did not have a schedule of SNSD, then i will be healthier, and i can focus more on every job, i thought that it could be like this. At that time, it was the first time i have slightly thought of the scenario if i am not a SNSD member.
 

Q: Compare to other girls, you have to give up on privacy, time and many more things like this. What are your views on this?
Since i have decided to go into this line, i guess these are what i need to tolerate, i think like this right from the start. Things like freedom, private life, hobbies and rest time being reduced are inevitable. But, precisely because of this job i get to appear on stage and tv to the viewers. No matter who and regardless of the job when we tried our best to do it, that kind of hardship is the same, but compared to those, i think i gained much more.

Q: If you did not debut with SNSD back then, what will you be doing now?
That’s what i want to know too (Laugh). Even though i have always love dancing and singing, but not to the extent of ‘I want to become an artist’, and pursue it. So, because i love dancing and singing, i participate in competitions before, but i do not have the thoughts that i must become a singer. Then i took part in audition with friend(s), and through that chance i get to become a trainee and eventually debut as a member of SNSD. I have never thought i will reach this point… I did think of becoming a theatrical ballet dancer. Having said that, i did not really work hard for it. For some reasons when i am considering my future, i will think that since i have already decide my future job, the time to be thinking of my dreams will be cut short too isn’t it. Ah but until now i still love culinary , even though i am still not very good at it, but as long as i have time i will learn them one by one. So, if i did not debut with SNSD, i will probably get a culinary certificate, or go into a culinary school, and work in a job related to that i guess.

Q: If right now you aren’t a member of SNSD anymore, what will you do?
Recently i have been asking members this question instead. “Unnie, if you are not a member of SNSD now, what will you do?†“If you are not doing this now, what will you do?â€, i will often ask questions like this, if its me, probably i will go for more challenges in acting. I will feel scared to go solo as a singer. Of course i feel the same for acting, i feel stressful doing things alone, and i do feel scared that i am not doing good enough, but right from the start i have always go solo in acting, as for singer it has always been 9 of us together since debut, so if i were to go solo for singing, i will feel scare somehow (Laugh).

Q: What were your thoughts when you first heard about debuting in Japan?
When i first heard it, it feels refreshing. So i quickly went to learn japanese.   I am full of anticipation on how everyone in Japan view us and how much love we will receive.

Q: 10 years later, you won’t be a maiden anymore, how will SNSD change?
By then i will be in mid thirties already, we talked about topics like this among us oftenly. What kind of feeling it will be to gather together 10 years later. How will it feel like gathering together when all members got married (Laugh). Everyone will bring their kids right, thoughts like this. Fany unnie said if her kid is a girl, she will absolutely dress her in pink to attend (the gathering). Sooyoung unnie will probably say things like ‘You are 1st already, but whats with this result’, getting angry with the kids, this and that, members have really good imaginations. Of course, there will be members who continue in this industry and some who give up, and there will be members who will be married and raising kids, everyone will be different. But the thing we talked most in depth is that how nice it will be if 9 of us will gather together times to times. This is something we must definitely fulfil. 
 

Q: Among all the MVs filmed til now, which one is your favorite?
I love ‘LOVE&GIRLS’ most. In the MV we get to do things like a flashmob together with fans, it was really different and happy. It did not feel like filming MV that time. The song itself is bubbly, it is a song that will lift up your mood and provide positive energy during Summer or in good weather.
 

Q: What is the thing that left you the deepest impression from the past Japanese activities?
There are really plenty of them. First of all is the concert tour. Memories are flashing in my mind now (Laugh). Going to Fujikyu Highland with the members was really fun too, we went sauna too. We also attended many awards ceremonies in Japan so they are still fresh in my memory. We live in a dorm together in Japan, all the members gathering together, chatting, eating many delicious food, there are plenty of such memories. The 9 of us also have more time to be together when we are in Japan, and naturally we have more time to chat on different topics.
 

Q: What are the difference between Japan and Korea’s industries in terms of structures and all?
I was shocked by the stage backdrops and cameras positioninng during live broadcast of music shows. The stage backdrops are 360degree, it will move and change, and even though it is in the midst of a live broadcast the backdrop can also change instantly. The cameras can film everyone right on point, staffs will be filming enthusiastically infront of us. In Korea, backdrops are prearranged and recorded. So the backdrop are changed  after the end of a group and done repetitively for every group. The difference in this is pretty shocking.
 

Q: How do the members make up after a quarrel? 
(Laugh) We won’t deliberately do it. It’s natural, we just talk as per usual and unknowingly reconcile in the midst of it. How do i put it, if it is a small quarrel will apologise and then reconcile. Compared to major quarrels, we quarrel over trival stuffs, but it will be solved once we calm down and try to understand the other party, or when self reflected and find that it is our own fault, we will just go back to the usual peace mode.

Q: Something that you have never tell anyone, the thing you like doing nowsadays?
This i really didn’t tell anyone about it. But got exposed by the members few days ago. I am trying to learn guitar now. Even though i have only been to 2 or 3 classes, i wanted to use my free time to see what i can do. There are times when i am alone at home, and think of what i can do with those time. I tried cooking and baking, but isn’t it difficult to go shop for them (Laugh). Therefore, i was thinking what else i can do, and then i thought of learning guitar. Guitar can be practiced alone, after learning from a tutor for a few times, i can practice by myself. I am only in the beginning stage of learning guitar. This is really something i have not told anyone yet (Laugh).

Q: Are there any weird habit that you have never told anyone? You can tell about yours and the members.
Hmm, Sunny unnie. She bites the members oftenly, like the elbow, biting while pulling away, she especially love doing this. As for my own, i think other members will know better than me. Since it is my own, i wont really know (Laugh).

Q: You are right, if its your own it is hard to detect by yourself.
Yes, but yesterday the zip on Hyoyeon unnie’s cosmetic bag was spoilt, so i said to let me try, then i keep on holding it and trying to fix it. After that Hyoyeon unnie said to me: “This is weird. Why are you trying to fix it for so long?†I suddenly thought of this! But, for me, it seem that i love reparing machinery or anything that are spoilt,. Therefore, for things such as machinery ‘This is spoilt’ ‘This can’t be repaired’ times like, people around me tend to look for me to ask me to help them fix it. When i am trying to fix it, i will have a sense of challenging spirit coming to me.
 

Q: Have you ever discover weird habit of other members?
Fany unnie’s weird habit is a well known thing, as long as she sees anything in pink she will claim it as hers. This is from a long time ago (Laugh).

Q: A topic that you have not told anyone, in actual fact, are there any Japanese celebrities that you like?
There are a lot cool and cute celebrities in Japan. I really like Takuya Kimura. In actual fact, i have seen him for 3, 4 times. He is as handsome as before, he also took care of us during concert with great hospitality, really very happy. SNSD’s acitivities in Japan also mean to be able to promote with SMAP-san and many other celebrities on the same platform. For girl groups there are AKB48 etc. It feels incredible and really happy for us who have always watch Japanese shows in Korea.  Really, everyone who we met are all really oustanding.

Q: if you are able to be a member of SNSD, who will you pick? Why?
If i can only pick one, its a bit difficult to choose. Taeyeon unnie’s vocal (Laugh), Sooyoung unnie’s legs (Laugh), Hyoyeon’s dancing skills (Laugh), if i can combine these and be reborn as a member of SNSD, i want to have them all (Laugh).

Its the same for me too. I will think of how Sooyoung unnie feels whenever she looks at her legs in the mirror. Like during photoshoots. How does she feels looking at her own legs. And also walking with that pair of legs. I will think of things like this.
 

Q: Up til now, the work that you are the happiest and which you valued most is?
Concert tours. There are really a lot of memories. Filming CM is also enjoyable. To be the endorser for a foreign country’s CM make me really happy and grateful. 

Q: If you were to go solo, what kind of music(work) will you do?
I want to do Indies. So when I’m learning guitar, i will also play and sing my favorite songs, it is the same when listening to songs. Even though i do listen to dance tracks and pop but i still prefer quieter songs, ballads and medium-tempo songs, i also listen to Indies often. My goal when practicing guitar is that one day i will be able to play and sing a song, i don’t know when i will be able to do so (Laugh). But, if i will really to go solo, its definitely still acting.

Q: Are there any celebrities that you want to meet now?
Members. As time passes, each of us have individual work, time when the 9 of us can gather like this is getting less, i feel alone. Therefore, right now i keep on wanting to see the members. Of course when the 9 of us together there are times we are annoyed or hard times, but i will really miss these moments when i look back in the future. So right now i value these moments, i want to cherish them and remember them by heart.

Q: Is there a certain celebrity with many great works that you wish to be? Did that person affect you any way in particular?
It is difficult to pick (Laugh). This question is really difficult. Hmm, i think… choosing a particular person as a model, benchmark, it seem there is none.

Q: Up til now, is there any words, reactions or attitude of fans that you dislike?
None. I can’t think of any.

Q: On the contrary, the words and reactions of fans who have watch the works by you so far, the one that make you happiest is?
First of all, the reactions from fans that make me the happiest is… during concert, i can look at everyone’s face from the stage. Especially singing ballads, i am either standing still or sitting down, i really can see fans’ faces. Because i am not jumping or running about, so i can see them clearly. At that moment, i will stare hard at everyone’s faces. And when singing, i will also look around to see if anyone managed to sing all the lyrics correctly, and there are many like this.

Also, during ballad songs, there will be people who are crying. When i see this, my passion will rise up too, sometimes when i see fans like this i will start tearing too. And when there are times i think that i absolutely should not cry, i will try hard to look at all sort of places, and sing like this (Laugh). I am always touched when i am singing ballads in concerts.

Regarding Tiffany's weird habits, in Tiffany's interview she said that during her trip together with you her weird habit was exposed. She said we will know if we ask Yuri.

During our trip? I don't know if this story matches Tiffany's. Because Tiffany has a lot of weird habits. She is good in keeping things tidy and in order. She organizes everything precisely and isn't satisfied until everything is tidy. That's probably her weird habit.
When we arrived at our destination and entered our hotel room, after seeing the closet, she arranged all the clothes in her suitcase in order, even if she won't use them right away. She also took out all her cosmetics, sorted them and put them in order. She really kept everything tidy. I was surprised.
Tiffany doesn't really look around a lot in touristic areas and famous building. When we traveled to Italy, I wanted to go to the top floor of the Milano cathedral to see the view. When you go and see it personally don't you want to burn it in your memory? But then there was really a big amount of stairs, there were definitely really a lot. But she wouldn't move and said she didn't want to go up all the stairs and asked why she had to go up. (laughs) So I scolded her saying 'You were really quick in arranging your cosmetics, why don't you try moving around quickly too.' So I think Tiffany talked about her habit of keeping things tidy. Try asking Tiffany.

 

Because Tiffany is someone who is very interested in her surroundings, she would suddenly enter while saying 'You were talking about me right? Were you talking about me?'and then change the topic. I think that's her weird habit.
And she is strongly obsessed with the color pink. But everyone knows that already (laughs).


Things you want to try that one of the members did.

I'm a bit envious of the members who were radio DJ's. So I'm jealous of the members Sooyoung and Taeyeon who were DJ's and Sunny who will soon be one.

 

If you were to go solo which music (job) would you do?

Because I usually like hip hop, I want to try girls hip hop. I want to be like female artists that express themselves in different performances and colors. I also want to try and do a concert by myself. From beginning till end, being together with the fans for 3 hours, being able to exchange freely, seems fun to me. I'm getting excited just by thinking about it.

Which artist do you admire?

I like Jennifer Lopez. She acts and is also active as a solo artist. Her image of performing freely her favorite music, which has no age limit, is really wonderful.

Taeyeon's best Japan memory was persisting to go haunted house despite getting so scared she get stiff muscles that hurt even the next day…

Taeyeon said her favourite fanboard during a concert was seeing “DANSHIN (Shorty)†LOL

Interviewer asked if “Taeyeon†was actually written on the DANSHIN fanboard. She replied “Nah, but that fanboard is for me isn’t it… LOLâ€

Taeyeon: “If I went solo I want to have a ballad concert at a small venue. In line with 1 theme. Then I want to try having an acoustic liveâ€

When Taeyeon replied SNSD's name became heavy thus thought to quit. She was only referring to the weight it puts on all those around her

Taeyeon said she thinks that compared to other young girls in general, she had to go through a lot of life and time sacrifices ã… ã… 

But Taeyeon believes that in losing something she will gain something in return. An optimistic perspective she has now learnt over time

Taeyeon: “Whenever Seohyun is next to me, she’d always hug me. That being said, I like skinship (laughs)â€

Taeyeon: “I always wish I had Tiffany’s energy. Cheerful, positive, active. I want to try living with those characteristics one day.â€

Taeyeon's jealous of Sooyoung bc she fits into all clothing brands. Unlike herself where the length of her pants often never fit
