Ah girls for rest is wrapped up. A cute and fun part 2 eps. That's what I love about them, they can do the wacky variety shows or go on adventures but even with it's just them together in a room they know how to have fun. It was a fun ride, hope there's a S2 with them all but this time with a better format and they go to somehwere unexpected like Iceland they keep on hinting.

 

......or just give them a room and a couple bottles of wine. Either version works tbh

Oh Hyo's new song is good. Not as good as sober but still good. I like how Hyo has found "her" sound, like now when I think Hyoyeon I think EDM the same way when they say Taeyeon I think ballad (I know Tae does much more styles but her signature that catapulted her to fame is ofc her slower ballads).

 

I don't follow the EDM scene but her recent collabs, English versions and touring at big events could mean some great things in the future. Who knows, with her networking we could get some big names like Calvin Harris, David Guerra, Zedd etc teaming up with Hyo for a worldwide album. What an accomplishment that would be.

Sounds like Taeyeon is either not being allowed to do what she wants or maybe her full album which was heavily signalled since early this year is put on ice. Whatever the case I'm past the point of being shocked or surprised by SM especially as Taeyeon has pointed the finger at SM for their shittiness multiple times in the past, one of which put her in danger (lack of airport security).

Regarding Tiffany

 

It's a shame that sort of crap was going on all that time and still is (what a dead beat dad) but I think it highlights how amazing she really is.

 

No mother at a young age, no family in Korea, dad was using her and she was in a totally new environment. Yet look all the things she achieved, records she broke, barriers she broke down and the friends she made. All the while always being kind and full of happiness. And if you look at how much support she got from her members and their families, SNSD really is her family.

Winter breath sounds really good. It wouldn't be out of place on an ost song.

 

When members not known for their singing like Yoona and Sooyoung can put food sounding ballads it really shows the sheer quality SNSD has as a group. At times it felt like they were underrated for their vocals with praise mostly going to Taeyeon and at times Jessica while leaving out the rest including 3 other main singers who could be leads in other groups.

 

Also soo's activies currently are insane compared to her last few years under SM. I mean in the last year or so she's got 2 acting roles, more international activies, more CFs, solo, and a company that actually fucking promotes her. SM was holding her back.

Sooyoung did THAT. This is like a Taeyeon quality ballad and that's high praise. You know SNSD is op af when even a sub vocalist can put a really beautiful and soothing song.

I love blonde fancy. Literally a queen. I'm guessing the date is for her ep or is there another single? Well whatever it isn't that far off so I can't wait.

 

But like some others I do feel a bit sad that she possibly erased her entire history on IG. All the memories gone just like that, sometimes I like just scrolling through their older pics whenever they have a new update. However some are saying she just archived then and they'll hopefully be back once her promo ends.

Damn 10 years! Doesn't even feel like a decade had gone by. Feels like yesterday I found this song and got into SNSD and kpop.

 

Gee isn't just pop perfection, it goes beyond a song. It Kickstartered the rise of the biggest gg in kpop ever, set SNSD to become the biggest group of their time, became the song of the decade and helped usher in a brand new audience for kpop. That one song alone was more of an entire era for kpop than another cb out of many.

 

I got into kpop in late 2010 and gee was STILL regularly played and mentioned on shows. If I didn't know any better I'd assume it came out that year, not almost 2 years earlier. A truly leGEEndary song

Tae looks amazing in those pics. There's something about seeing her gleeming with a smile that is heartwarming given the issues she sometimes has to deal with

The only thing I can think of is shinee member death but that in 2016?

2017 was a pretty shit year for SNSD and Taeyeon in particular:

 

- SNSD had their fuckfest of an anniversary cb

- all of SNSD didn't renew so she "lost" some members and we all know how she loves hanging out with her members

- she had the incident at the airport where she was mobbed and groped due to lack of security from SM

- had a car accident that was blown way out of proportion by a fake victim account and that got her a LOT of hate

- her friend Jonghyun of Shinee took his life which is made more sombre because she has the same mental issues as he did.

 

Probably more as well which I forgot. I think it got to the point where she wasn't coping well so in early 2018 she took 3 full months off for some needed r&r

Yeah I do think there is SOMETHING going down between Taeyeon and SM but that conspiracy theory seems a bit far fetched. I don't think SM would suddenly decide to fuck her over including scraping her album which everyone knows will sell well (if they bother to do some decent promotion).

 

Plus that poster, even if they're telling the truth, has zero credibility, no source and no history of getting things right.

 

Buuuuuuuuuuuut it is SM. Recently they do some downright stupid shit and this honestly wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility in a worst case scenario. I repeat, worst case scenario cos I don't think SM would be that stupid given circumstances (only 1 gg, best idol solo is Taeyeon, she can tour etc).

This will probably be unpopular, but the girls should just stop going to SMTown. SM doesn't value them or give them anything special, Hyoyeon AND Yuri were both done with their part of the concert within the first 15 minutes. Sure, DJ Hyo opened the show, but then she was done with her two songs as soon as the actual concert started. They didn't get any kind of special stage or collab. With the amount of artists SM has, the setlists are unacceptable. It should be more than the same 2/3 groups getting most of the songs. If they want those artists to have all the songs, just hold a solo concert and don't waste others' time. As a Sone, I don't think I would even go if SMTown came here again if it's going to be like this. I only really like maybe one or two other SM groups to the point I'd want to see them in a concert and if the girls have nothing then it isn't worth it. imo you're better off saving up for a fanmeet or solo concert at this point. The Girls' Generation goods were literally the lightstick, the fan, and some random pouch thing. SM is giving Sone no reason to even want to go to these things anymore, they're pushing us and the girls away. At this point, part of me wants them all to leave SM because I'm tired of watching them get paid dust over and over again when they have just as large and dedicated of a fanbase as the other SM groups (and larger than many of them). SM uses them to sell tickets and then gives them nothing, it's a complete waste of their time and Sones' time and money.

 

I hope any Sone here who went had a good time, I'm sorry to be so blunt about my feelings, but this is just getting ridiculous. To fly 30+ hours to be on a stage for not even 10 minutes each, the girls really do love us.

It's not an unpopular opinion, a lot of us have already said the same regarding the last few SM towns. Even when there were 3 members attending they were allotted like 15 mins total and their combined contribution was over in about 30 mins into a multi hour concert. They're better off doing their own tours or CBs or even having the day off

 

Basically if you're mainly a Sone and don't have much interest in other groups it's a scam. Moreso when the posters went up saying SNSD, most assuming it was TYH and now Yuri so people probably booked their tickets early. However turned out later on it was only Hyo and Yuri so actually less than previous SM towns. Bad news for any sones who paid top dollar to see any decent amount of SNSD. I think there was a sone is this thread who had the exact problem with tickets.

 

DJ Hyo was a great step but if you listen a few of to her pieces were SNSD songs. How sad is that, to hear SNSD at SM town anymore we have to wait for special stages like that which may or may not happen at other venues.

This one doesn't look too bad for SNSD but remember most groups aren't at full strength (TVXQ didn't attend, SNSD, fx and Shinee all have most of their members missing so didn't perform group sons).

 

However compare to a more full strength previous date like Dubai 2018 and it becomes more obviousi.

SNSD only got 4 individual songs while everyone else got group songs, solos, units and even some collabs. I mean by song 19 of 53 SNSD was over. Even fx who is treated like shit by SM for years and only had 2 members in attendance got 4 songs as well.

 

So yeah it's quite obvious SNSD is an extremely low priority for SM town.

I like how SNSD members can easily hold their solo tours/fan meets:

 

- Taeyeon been doing it for years

- Yoona completed hers last year

- Tiffany did hers in Asia and coming soon in America

- Seohyun completed one and about to do another

- Hyoyeon has been attending DJ festivals in Korea and is about to do a small tour across Asia soon

- Yuri now

 

Sooyoung had a couple special one off fan meets but no proper continuous tour like the others and Sunny hasn't done any I think.

 

Honestly it's crazy how individual SNSD members can tour internationally whereas most other entire ggs can't really tours unless they're from a big agency.

I've already mentioned in the song thread but I'll say it again I absolutely love it - her best song easily. The ethereal vocals, the production, the instrumental, it all sounds amazing. This is the Tiffany I was highly anticipating. Hopefully theres a massive push so she gets a lot of airplay and performs it often outside her upcoming concerts.

 

The MV is beautiful. Blonde fany is killer. I think it's called born again because thats what we need to do after she kills us with those stares

 

But like you guys the slight slurring isn't too my taste. I think it's intentional to fit with the downtrodden and dreamy atmosphere of the song but at the same time it does make some parts like verses hard to understand.

 

And yeah I noticed there's a noticeable difference between the MV on YouTube and on Spotify (and others say iTunes is fine too). Whatever happened during upload seems to have affected the quality of the song which is weird. It kinda sounds like the song is played through small speakers on high volume so it's a bit distorted.

 

Even with those minor issues it's awesome. It feels like this is Tiffany's "I" (Taeyeon song) both in terms of vibe and (re)introduction as a new solo. A turning point in her career. Can't wait for her EP is this is what's to come.

The MV views seem kind of low She hasn't hit 500k yet

Yeah it's weird but then again most her videos on her channel don't make it past a million and she only has 400k subs so it's not too unexpected the views would be low.

 

I think the main problem is there's very little promo especially compared to her kpop days: announcement a week or so in advance, lots of teasers almost every day, some cnippets here and there, articles from media and updates from big kpop label, and after release we get music shows, fansigns TV appearances and so on. Everything was a tornado of activity from start to finish.

 

Compare to born again we only had Tiffany post updates sporadically and that's it. Hard to build and continue hype post release. That's why I mentioned above how I hope her label really pushes for radio play and going on shows like with teach you and ofc live performances. It would be a huge shame if born again goes under everyone's radar. At least her EP will coincide with a tour
