A classic, Oh!GG just announced their debut and some erudites (that got into kpop like yesterday) are already talking about what's best for them and SNSD, starting their "facts" with a "Not even a SONE but..."

So I'm just gonna camp here. I'm allergic to stupidity and my reserves of antihistamines are limited

I've said this before:

SNSD are one of the most influential groups in kpop. Not only did they have smahs hits and become ngg but they did things that many other groups never achieved or couldn't come close to matching: showed ggs can be as strong as bgs if not stronger (albums, tours, fanbase etc), an extremely versatile group that has actors + MCs + models + variety stars etc, a massive impact on hallyu, huge brand awareness (tops polls, record high ratings on TV, appear on news etc), directly and indirectly influenced many ggs/idols that came after them including current Gen ones Yadda Yadda Yadda. The list goes on.

 

Hell over the last year they managed to keep their group together when for all intents and purposes SNSD shouldnt even exist anymore SM could've easily said no more SNSD, it's just Taeyeon, sunny etc as individuals but here we are where SM admits they don't have the full SNSD by creating a new unit.

 

For a group that has had a massive influence on kpop and still does to this day anyone who says they think they what's best for SNSD knows Jack shit.

Yeah it looks funny in contrast to the others. They look similar to the previous teaser while it looks like Taeyeon's one is from something else entirely lol.

 

I guess that means there will be a set of pics of the others looking they that got paparazzi'd on a night out too.

Ok first the bad:

What the hell! The "show" is just a bunch of 2 to 3 minute clips. If its 24 "episodes" (each clip is referred to add an episode) then it'll be over in only a few days with maybe a total of around 1 hour runtime. Why couldn't it simply be a nice 10 minute per episode web series or better yet an actual show, maybe half an hour to an hour with fewer episodes like with channel soshi was before? The current format is really disappointing. At least the girls look like they having fun and the chill vibe is really nice but fucks sake that format really pisses me off.

I heard Yoona at first listen, but then Sones on twitter said they heard Taeyeon and Sunny, then i'm like WHAT??

I listened to it again now all I hear is Yuri. But i'm pretty sure that's Yoona voice lol

 

I dont think ive seen her mentioned till you lol. People mostly saying its either Yuri, Taeyeon or Sunny while putting on a voice.

I think it's Taeyeon. It sounds exactly like her when she speaks English.

 

 

Ugh if this ain't me. I overlooked the kihno thing and I was annoyed with the show format, but I could overlook that too. But when they posted that SHINee teaser I was done. We were so close to getting decent promotion from SM, but we should have known they will NEVER change. I've still got my Melon account ready and bought some albums, but I have a sinking feeling about anything else at this point. Just gonna try to enjoy the hype that's left and the feeling of watching a new SNSD MV for the first time.

 

The only thing I can't understand is why they're holding a fansign so late? It's almost 2 weeks after the song's release. That made me think they were potentially doing /some/ kind of promotion but I guess it's just SM being SM yet again. Sigh.

Honestly I gave up with SM last year. No matter what they did with SNSD 5, if anything did happen, it wouldn't be enough to forgive them for last year. But with oh GG I thought SM is at least not being total shit heads this time around. Surely it's definitely gonna be an improvement over holiday night right? Wrong!

 

SM are the same old trash. The debut of oh GG seems like it's a contractual obligation rather than a promo SM wanted to do. Other than MV and song there's pretty much nothing to be excited about after Wednesday: no lives, no variety shows, no proper physical, only 2 songs, clashing with NCT and so on.

 

What's the point of keeping the SNSD brand if all they're gonna do is keep screwing around? They literally said a few weeks ago SNSD still had a strong brand and there's no others in the near future that can match them, so why not milk it? What was the point of sabotaging and punishing them last year if they give no fucks to the ones that stayed? Talk about mixed messages...

 

I can't say I'm angry at SM, I'm disappointed I got my hopes up thinking things would even be slightly different this time.

I'm currently on lunch break so barely have much time or comfort (in sitting in a busy shop listening with headphones lol) but I'm still smiling like a looney (I hope no one gets any ideas and calls police on me lol)

 

Holy fuck SNSD is back!!

 

Everything about it was amazing. Missing 2 main singers and still they put on a show, Taeyeon is great as usual but sunny steps up big time. Hyoyeon too is surprisingly one of the MVP with that harmonisation with Taeyeon. Those verses were fire. Shiet man SNSD is talent personified no matter how many of them there are.

 

The MV is a little basic (SM box) but the editing and production is top notch. The the looks and styling are knockouts, everyone looks like they're freaking models. They look gorgeous! The concept is so different, honestly this is what their 10th anniversary should've been like, it stands out much more than holiday.

 

This shows why SNSD is so amazing. 11 years old, missing members and yet they still manage to deliver an awesome debut, a very different concept and at the same time still show everyone that signature SNSD pedigree. Truly the best GG ever.

Dam it man, there's avlive going on and I missed most of it. Oh well I'll catch the whole thing later on. In the mean time I got to resist the urge to take my phone out and listen to lil touch while at work lol.

But seriously I reeeeally wanna see it live, the MV doesn't fully do the dance justice. It's one of those you got to see in action to appreciate fully like CMIYC or IGAB. Imagine soshi in those black lace dress irl.... RIP

Is it just me or has this comeback been weirdly (nicely) drama free?

 

Like I'd love them to promote but SM hasn't ACTUally screwed anything up yet, the song's charting well, good reception and support from most kpop fans, no articles/threads about them being old or hasbeens etc etc

 

I swear a Soshi era hasn't been this chill in years, I'm loving it

That moment where a pretty successful and stress free CB/debut is out of the ordinary :lol: . A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

 

But at the same time its a little too quiet. After the song is out, apart from girls for rest (and even that isn't what most hoped for) there's not much else. Compare to how SNSD CBs were huge on going multi media events - they'd release songs, do live performances, appear on TV shows, radio and maybe attend a special event or 2. For like a month it'd be nothing but and goodness. Lack of promo this time makes it feel like the end of promo cycle, not the 2nd day :._.:
