Which is odd considering most of their money comes from a female act. 

 

They can still have all March + 2 weeks of April if that's even possible.

Actually they can have April minus one week-end since they only have two concerts on that month (they could pre-record performances for that week), and the next concerts are only on May 6 and May 7. But that would mean little rest for the girls...

 

Honestly, I'm asking for just one and a half month of promotion. Come on SM, it's not much, it's just what I'm asking for.

Yea, then expect messy performance, ill fitting outfits, and basic stage for their 3rd Japan tour. They'll be tired as hell, has no time for more practice, and all other preparations. 

SM won't make SNSD comeback only for a few weeks of promotion. Expect at least one full month, so even if the album is released in early March, the promotion is to overlap in April. At this point, we should take anything extra as a bonus...

 

And the fact that the tour will be half-assed again is basically a given tbh. I wouldn't expect much from the production itself, while the outfits depend only on their stylists (so it's not really related to the time given by SM to prepare the tour). As for practicing, the girls have probably started long ago.

Wait what, are people surprised about the TVXQ comeback?

 

 

Hopefully SM don't give any fucks about any Cassies whining and release SNSD's album very soon after TVXQ's.

The problem is that now there's Key+WooHyun to take into account. They'll probably be released right after TVXQ, which makes it very unlikely for SNSD to release their mini album at that time as well. Unless SM doesn't care about releasing both Key+WooHyun and SNSD at the same time, which I doubt, it means SNSD will have to wait again until early to mid-March...

SeoHyun is so much better than SooYoung in English. SooYoung has a very noticeable accent while SeoHyun has a very clear English. She's not known as SNSD's prodigy for nothing.

im 99% sure that SM will give surprise MV or at least just short notice in this circumstance, if this not.. it just wasting the momentum (from mysterious and plot twist concept) or SM afraid of the hype dies down.

That's very unlikely, sadly :(

 

SM will probably follow their usual scheme of releasing a MV teaser and a highlight medley, which makes it almost impossible to surprise people since it will be expected that the MV will be revealed shortly after those two previews. That's why until SM announces a new date of release, the comeback is still days or even weeks away, because there's still a lot of stuff we don't know/haven't seen (tracklist, album cover, MV teaser, highlight medley, opening of pre-orders, etc.).

I really want a reaction from sm right now.....or some information what's going to happen

SM will probably be forced to push forward the release of the mini album to tomorrow or the next very few days.

 

Which basically pushes forward the whole comeback.

 

Unless SM continues to be dumb as they've been for the last 3 months and decides to stick their to plan to make SNSD come back in March when everybody will have already downloaded the album.

Fans will buy the album anyway. Regular Korean people who like the song will get the 5-cent MP3 on their usual music stores.

 

Nothing really changes.

 

SM has everything ready except the music video but they could do without it for a few days. I really hope they release the mini album tomorrow.

It was still released too early. It was still 23rd in Korea when it was released, so it was not supposed to be released when it was. So someone has obviously fucked up.

 

Seriously, that's not going to happen.

 

How many copies it sell is NOT the most import thing for SM/SNSD.

Fewer sales means less money. So how is it not the most important thing for SM ? If they don't react quickly, the hype will die down. Nobody's gonna be interested in buying songs and watching a music video from an album leaked weeks ago.

 

Now every single day counts. They'll have to rush everything unless they want the whole thing to flop.

You guys have to understand that Korea around 2006/2007 was a completely dead music market. EVERYONE was downloading songs illegally and it was impossible to make money on music.

 

By now, they've managed to turn the Korean music market very legal, but music sales is still only a small part of the income for SM/SNSD.

 

 

Seriously, Leaked or not, I'm still not expecting it to be officially released for another 2 weeks at least.

There's no way SM will wait another 2 weeks, or at least I hope they don't. And if they do, "Mr. Mr." will not benefit the initial "bang" a song and album get when just released, during that short period of about 1-4 days where everyone checks out what X's new song sounds like out of curiosity. Half of this is gone already with the leak.

 

Around 2006/2007, K-Pop was NOT global. It's not only a bunch of Korean fans who fuel SNSD's career at the moment, but millions of fans all around the world, most of whom have already heard the album right now. Waiting another 2 weeks is suicide, simple as that.

 

Imagine if the song wasn't leaked. Both MV/album released at a given date : who's gonna watch the music video ? Everyone, out of curiosity. Now look at what's happening right now, with the album leaked, and the MV/album released later on : who's gonna watch the music video ? A lot of people who already heard the song and disliked it won't.

 

And that makes a huge difference. In terms of YouTube views, it terms of motivation from K-SONEs (they'll probably do their job but it won't be anything like rushing to the store to get a copy of the album to listen to it, especially if they already did weeks ago) and it terms of general hype.

 

In 2006/2007, hardly anyone could sell 100,000 copies of an album, so yeah, nobody could make money out of that. But SNSD is one of Korea's best-selling acts, and it's gonna hit them real hard if SM doesn't react. Do you think SM didn't get money from those 400,000 copies The Boys sold ?

 

If they decide to wait, they really need to hunt down every download link that's floating around and have a huge control over every single article that's made about SNSD's comeback so that they don't mention that the album was leaked, leaving people ignorant of this mess and still making them as hyped and curious as possible.

You still don't understand at all. The money from album/digital sales is still very small compared to the money they get from live performances, endorsement deals and other events.

 

What matters is the image/impression/memory people will keep of SNSD - Mr.Mr., not how many copies it sells.

Actually, let me correct myself: what matters is how Mr.Mr. will change/affect the image/impression/memory people have of SNSD.

And you don't understand that this will damage SNSD in every way you mentioned if SM decides to wait.

 

They will get terrible press if they song ends up flopping just because everyone on Earth already has an illegal copy of the album, especially if they get compared to smaller acts that happen to do better. How about SNSD being associated to "flop" or "beaten by X" ? Talk about impression and memory people have of SNSD after that.

 

SM may not be selling music primarily but SNSD is a music group and their chart performances determine their position in that field. They can't afford to have a "so-so" response that will affect SNSD's reputation if they want to keep selling everything the SNSD "brand" has to sell besides music. It's not only about money, it's about SNSD's image and their reputation as a whole, which can't be differentiated from the success of their Korean releases and how much they sell.

 

Unless, as I said at the end of my post, SM gets extra careful and quash everything mentioning the leak in the Korean press so that the general public doesn't hear about it. It could work. But seeing how they messed up SNSD's comeback back and forth, I don't trust them anymore.

I knew SM would push forward the release. There was no way they'd let the album float around the web like that. Now I'm ready for the slayage, I hope the girls do well ! They really deserve it after all the shit this comeback got. 

 

And it's very funny that SM now has finished the editing of the MV lol, like the timing is strangely perfect. Did they really lose the MV after all ? Why wasn't SNSD scheduled to comeback if the music video was done ? Smh.

 

Of course everyone hates the song first listen. People have unrealistically high standards for SNSD because they're the #1 girl group and arguably the Kpop group in general with the most buzz and attention. If they don't release the best song of the century people write it off as disappointing and say it "sucks" but if another group sang Mr.Mr. I'm almost certain this forum would be head over heels for it.

 

Of course that only lasts so long, cause deep down you know the song isn't bad no matter how much you try and force yourself to be disappointed.

 

If you don't like it because you think it's boring that's one thing, but it's FAR from a "bad" song.

This is very, very true. Unfortunately, they don't value their singles for what they really are, because SNSD never actually released a bad song. As much as they are popular, if IGAB was that much of a terrible song, it wouldn't have landed so high in the year-end charts. People are always like "so that's all the nation's girl group can do ?", like... they tried to do something new with IGAB and people were saying it was terrible. Now that they're doing something more conventional, everyone saying it's boring and basic.

 

But then again, I don't remember one single SNSD release that didn't receive hate. Haters will hate and queens will slay, nothing new.

 

Really didn't expect SM to change it around and release it already because of the leak.

And it feels quite embarassing how lots of people here are usually whining about SM's "treatment" of SNSD because right not they are basically shitting on TVXQ and the new Toheart collab unit.

On the good side... I hope they can now perform Mr.Mr. in Japan on Sunday

They obviously had to postpone the planned release last week because of problems with the MV.

 

The other SM fandoms gotta be in fucking rage mode right now because SM/SNSD are completely ruining their releases. Seriously ashamed of the fucking ignorant whining and bitching by SONEs.

But SM said the editing of the MV is now finished -> like the exact same day they have to push forward the release of the album, the MV happens to be finished ? I don't know but it just sounds like another weird coincidence. They were basically saying they needed at least 2-3 extra weeks to put it back together after they lost the data and now it's done already ? lol.

 

As for other fandoms being mad about SM postponing TVXQ, blame SM's shitty management. SNSD fans are not going to hold back their joy for finally getting a comeback that was supposed to happen one and a half month ago just because TVXQ is getting a one-week delay.

TVXQ has their Japanese tour starting before SNSD's tour. They have obviously have their comeback dates planned since ages ago.

 

SNSD were gonna comeback way back in January, and then they decided to re-do choreography/video because they weren't happy with the outcome and wanted to make it better. --> delay and fucks up SM's planned schedule.

 

So instead they were scrambling to get the new re-filmed MV ready in time to release it ahead of TVXQ but messed up that work. --> more delay and moved to be released after TVXQ instead.

 

Songs leaks and SM decide to release the album right away and try get the MV ready as soon as possible. --> Released at the same time as TVXQ and completely ruins their promotions.

 

 

I seriously fucking can't understand how some of you are bitching about SNSD being treated bad and SM favouring other groups, when in reality they've obviously put in lots of effort in SNSD's new release and in the process ruined the promotions of their most senior group. SMFH.

What the hell is wrong with you ? It's only K-Pop, you're taking this a bit too seriously.

 

At least TVXQ had their comeback in January. Go stand in a corner and take a chill pill.
