I can see that people either really like the album, or don't. For me, I really like this album. It reminds me of the first Japanese album without sounding too experimental. 

 

It's too bad that the album isn't selling well in Japan. I hope SM takes heed of this and start to promote SJJD appropriately.

The thing with SNSD as Shoujo Jidai is that even though they're amazing their most of their Japanese releases aren't really suited to Japanese tastes much. Japan (in general) really like cute sounding music that caters to the ojisan crowd, like AKB. Their music is more spontanous and genre changing.

 

 

They're 2nd today, and only sold 12900. I kinda think that's bad. But whatever. Maybe the sales will pickup later...

At least we know what they hair is probably going to be like in the mv, not that it tells us a whole lot. I just wanna be able to hear the song and watch the mv and know when all that is going to happen.

 

I feel like there will be no drastic change in hairstyle. Well, someone can wear a wig, just like what Sunny did for The Boys. For me, I'm excited for the song. I really like IGAB and the choreo. I hope that they'll slay in 2014 since 2013 is a little bit slow for them--I know, despite of all their activities. But, Taeyeon said in the Ceci interview that she's hoping for a simple year in 2014. I mean, I don't even know what she means by that, but yeah....

 

Anyway, my highlight of the year:

1. IGAB, and the entire IGAB album. The best Korean album for me.

2. Youtube Award thing.

3. Prime Minister and I. Seriously, it's so good.

4. Cyrano.

5. LIPS, and the new Japanese songs.

6. "World Tour."

7. Endo Jidai tbh.

I was waiting for this concert for a long time, and I tried to listen to the live podcast last night, but couldn't because I was so sleepy. Frankly, I think the concert is a letdown because I have seen most of the performances before. Maybe I had my hopes high. The solo stages are good, but I'm not a big fan of sexy performances anyway. I'm more of a vocal-oriented, or intense dance-oriented person anyway, but I digress. I'm  disappointed that Hyo didn't get a solo, but I'm sure there's a reason for that. So, as much as I'm disappointed to not see the Queen of Dancing slayed the stage, I should at least try to empathize. I don't know why they did IGAB twice. They could have done something else for the opening or encore. I'm still waiting for that TRICK performance! lol

You can tell that Sunny wasn't really laughing towards the end because she's surprised at the amount of the bid. Maybe she feels burdened by it? But, I respect Sunny even more because I know she's not the kind to burden fans into showering her with expensive gifts.

I don't understand why many people said the performance was lackluster. I thought it was great. I mean, sure there wasn't a remix or a dance break. But, that doesn't mean the girl half-assed the choreography. I actually saw the girls enjoying the show. All of them genuinely looked happy to be on stage, but it was difficult to see that because of the camera. Dancing on an unstable stage in high heels for Express 999 wasn't an easy task. Even if they want to be on point, the stage wouldn't help. The bad camera and sound system didn't help either. You can see that Taeyeon ended up dancing while holding her mic pack because she'd been trying to fix the sound or whatever. 

 

TTS performance was great only because the camera work wasn't shitty. We can actually see their facial expression. 

 

I think the girls understand that performing as the closing act is a pressure. I don't think people should say the girls don't even care anymore when I think they do and still care. Sooyoung herself was disappointed with the outcome.

I was bored, so I watched SNSD's earlier comeback stages, and I found this:

Speaking of solo singles, I don't get why SM hasn't tried a two disk Korean album.

 

An album of nine group songs on one disk, an album of 9 solo songs, one for each of the members. It gives the fan base what they want, enables the girls to further establish themselves as individual singers within the constraints of the SNSD brand, as opposed to OST's etc. Plus, they are nine girls with differing opinions so it allows them to dictate the musical  trajectory for the group, if even to a small extent. 

 

Alternatively, I think a sub-unit album would be a good idea. 

 

This is a controversial subject in this thread, as we all know, but the creation of an album with ten tracks composed of one group single and 9 subunit songs, 3 sang by 3 differing subunits (TTS, the holy trinity SHY, JYS) would be an interesting album. Once again, this would fulfil the different aims of the group (TTS to have more vocally demanding songs, SHY to dance, JYS to attempt something maybe more mid-tempo, accommodating both vocals and dance). A comeback of this nature would help keep the girls and fan base interested in their careers, enabling them to garner more longevity and success as a group. This also lends itself well to the Korean promotion schedule. Activities would be split between the 3 sub-units as opposed to full group activity, enabling some members to rest instead of promoting while, between the three major music shows, promotion of each sub-unit lead single would be divided between them TTS for MusicBank, SHY for Inkyiago etc.

 

Just a thought.

 

Yeah, I agree. SM wastes SNSD's potential, really. Oh, and the other artists' potential as well. I kinda understand why JYJ wanted out.

 

I like that idea of releasing an album, but with differing subunits. So far, we have only seen duets and solos in an album. If they can co-write songs, why not just make sub-units.

They didn't really say anything.

 

It was only after parts of the fandom had gone batshit crazy about their bias not being in the sub-unit that SM put out that extremely vague statement. In reality they didn't say anything about new subunits.

 

SM didn't say exactly that they're releasing new a sub-unit every single time, but they did allude to potential sub-units, comprised of members who want to pursue a music niche un-pursuable as nine. SM, you sneaky bastard.

Is Fashion King subbed by anybody? I really wish I can watch the show because it seems interesting. I also want to see Tiff's work ethics. She can be a little bit opinionated at times, hence I wonder if this side of her surfaces in Fashion King. 

 

I gave up thinking about the comeback. If it happens, it happens. Sometimes I wish SNSD or SM would shut up and not talk about releasing a new album or mini. The teaser is fine because it builds hype. But, all this waiting for the teaser is killing me! Gawd. I'm also worried that the comeback and the album won't be good because SM might want to give more spotlight to TVXQ? Maybe it's just me. 

 

Seolady looks adorable in the musical although I'd say she's still a little bit stiff in her acting.

Umm, so SM's releasing TVXQ's repackage album. What does this really mean? Are we expecting a longer delay? If that is the case, I am so fecking pressed right now.
