Why a mini ? :(

To be honest, if you take out all the fillers from their full albums, they basically become mini albums... I loved their "Gee" and "Hoot" mini albums from first to last song. They had really great material compared to their 2 last full albums*, so I expect the same quality as their previous minis for their comeback (if it does turn out to be a mini album, which isn't official yet).

 

Plus, releasing a mini album makes the chances for the girls to come back a second time later this year a lot higher. Also, we've seen with "The Boys" and "IGAB" that a repackage isn't a given anymore, so...

 

Don't be disappointed ! Let's see the bright side of this  

 

* Edit : by "their 2 last full albums", I mean Korean full albums.

I'm getting so tired of this. Just let SNSD go and sign with another company if you can't even promote them properly. It's SM The Ballad's comeback that should be postponed, not SNSD's. Their comeback was supposed to happen first, so why is it always the girls that suffer from their shitty management ? Will they also have to wait for EXO, Super Junior and f(x) to come back first before they release their damn album ? Gosh, I'm so frustrated and angry right now.

Don't take all shit Cecil says literally.

She has access to good info and I check her twitter every day, but she's seriously a "raging fangirl" type of person who can't put that info into an analytical framework.

 

The SNSD comeback is clearly not gonna be until after the Olympics and that's been pretty obvious for a long time now. I have no idea why you all can't just relax and just accept that for whatever reason they decided to change something about the planned comeback so it's happening way later.

The comeback could have been mid to late February. Many K-Pop acts are coming back during the Olympics, it doesn't even matter. As somebody previously said, the promotion for Oh! happened during the 2010 Olympics. Fans are just blowing the importance of the Olympics out of proportion, so it wasn't exactly obvious that the comeback wasn't happening this month.

 

But SM's statement makes it pretty clear that the comeback isn't gonna be anytime soon. That's why I - and people - are pissed. "I have no idea why you all can't just accept the fact" that people are tired of waiting.

There is a concert on Saturday February 15 which means they can't be on music shows on Saturday or Sunday that week, and that clearly mess up any mid-February comeback plans.

They could have pre-recorded the performances, it's not like they've never done it in the past.

It's so heartwarming to see TaeYeon looking forward to let fans hear new music. You can't tell she's really passionate about what she does. It reminds me of the times she apologized for making Korean fans wait so long between every SNSD comeback. It's almost like she thinks she owes the fans and she feels guilty for the lack of Korean promotion. That's why sometimes I feel like the girls don't really enjoy overseas promotions that much.

 

She's such a great leader. I hope her duet and solo will do well.

Well, we saw that the girls had male dancers, so unless SM wants the stage to look like a giant mess, I'd expect some couple dancing. Maybe some parts were deemed inappropriate by LSM. But who knows, this is pure invention since we don't know anything about the choreo except that little move the girls have been doing.

what if Flyers kor version will be the title track? Remember when Taeyeon said that the song have "let's go"

Flyers have "let's go" as well...

 

There's no way SM would EVER release a remake of a Japanese song as the title track for a Korean comeback. "Flyers" wasn't even a single in Japan, I don't think SM would even consider making it into a single in Korea. The title track has to be a brand new song, obviously called "MR. MR.".

 

But I wouldn't exclude the possibility of a Korean remake of "Find Your Soul" or a Japanese single such as "My Oh My" or "Galaxy Supernova" in the album itself, as a side track.

 

If anything, watch their next Korean title track get a Japanese remake instead, but not the other way around.

They should, but yeh K-netizens would have a freak out if that ever happened. Its always the other way around like you were alluding too. 

I don't think they should, and I wouldn't be very happy if they did, tbh. SM has been so good at producing their Korean comebacks that it would be a huge waste to put that amount of work and money into a song everybody already knows (and it would be terrible management). Let's face it, more money has been spent for their "I Got A Boy" music video than most of their recent Japanese PVs combined. Their Japanese concepts and visuals overall have also been lacking since their 1st JP album. 

 

I love how we don't don't have a clue about what to expect from SNSD everytime they release an album in South Korea, whether it's the concept or the kind of sound they'll explore. We don't know what they're going to deliver but we just know one thing for sure : that it's gonna be HUGE. 

 

Release a Korean remake of a JP single and you take all the surprise and fun away.

Since the teaser has been revealed so early in the teasing process, I'm thinking it might be something that has nothing to do with the actual video, just like the 1st IGAB teaser at the end of their "Dancing Queen" MV or their "Genie" teaser. That way SM keeps the veil on what the real MV looks like and it's a cool introduction to SNSD's comeback.

 

I'd expect a "real" teaser a few days before the actual MV comes out with the real set, etc. Also, this one is called "image teaser" and not "MV teaser".

yeah, it sounded more like Sooyoung to me, than Sunny

but who knows...

It's probably not just one girl since it's a line from the chorus ; it's most likely the autotune that makes it sound like there's only one member singing. But it's true that it sounds like a mix of Sunny and Sooyoung, and I hear Seohyun too (Seohyun : "Mistah Mis-" Sooyoung/Sunny : "-tah").

I'm thinking they'll be releasing 2 members' pictures at a time (just like for "Run Devil Run" in 2010) because there isn't enough time to have 1 picture a day. Then one final member on Sunday, MV teaser on Monday, Tuesday should be break day, and MV next Wednesday. It works.

The producers are so hit and miss for me with their songs so I'm a little scared now. Pleaseeee be the song from the teaser.

SM has already included songs from Underdogs in TVXQ's and SHINee's albums, but as simple side tracks. So if SM eventually chose "MR. MR." as the title song this time, I confidently think it means that it's a very solid track and that it lives up to SNSD's standards in terms of single quality.

As someone previously said, when you see the key movement from MR. MR., it looks like the girls are doing something with their bracelets or with the end of their sleeves ? It wonder what it's supposed to mean (it's related to the lyrics of the song maybe ?), and anyway, it looks so cool 

 

I was expecting solo teaser pictures today   But congrats to the girls for their umpteenth award !

Yes, SNSD vs 2NE1 will be interesting. But as I said in another thread, it's actually very positive. Fans' competitiveness will be at its highest, which will probably boost the sales of both groups (I'm pretty sure IGAB could have sold at least 20,000 extra copies if SNSD had been against other major acts during their promotional cycle).

 

And to be honest, I'm pretty sure SM knew long before the rest of us that 2NE1 was releasing an album on that date (I mean, even some fans have private information, so just imagine the amount of info the CEO of the biggest Korean entertainment agency has), which means that they were probably aware that both groups would "clash". It's pretty interesting because SM and YG must be very confident in their respective releases, since none of them is even trying to avoid the other.

 

It's gonna be so exciting.   Of course, I'm rooting for SNSD !

do you think a mini album from snsd will surpass the sales of a 2ne1 full album?

I know soshi are physical monsters,but a mini doesn't generally sell less than a full?

You should have absolutely no worries about physical sales. 2NE1's physical selling power has dropped a lot. Only their 1st mini album, released in 2009, was on SNSD's level in terms of physical sales. They are still god sellers, I'm not going to lie, but SNSD is in a league of their own, if you have to compare both groups.

 

SNSD's mini album should sell around 175,000/200,000 (TTS's Twinkle sold 150,000, so an OT9 mini-album should do a lot better).

Dispatch reveals 6 things you may not have known about ‘Mr.Mr’

6. Participation = Music, performance, style, all across the board, the girls were involved in by contributing ideas. Especially the way they recorded. They even consulted with the songwriter to add in very detailed ad-libs. The girls also worked with the visual director to pick fashion items that fit each members the best.

This is pretty exciting. Whoever says SM's artists don't have a say in the album making process needs to read this twice. I'm very happy that the girls are able to express their creativity (even if it's still minor) over their fashion and to make changes on the song itself.

 

You're right SM, that's how you keep the #1 girl group : you give them some freedom over the making of their album. I can see SNSD's longevity as group being extended if they could start choosing the tracks or composing themselves, because I'm sure that's something the girls would love to do in the long run.
