No one regconized Sunny on a Taiwan subway 

Idk if it's good or sad

 

 

well to be fair, I often have to ride the nyc subway and people barely pay any attention to the person sitting next to them, let alone keep track of who is in the car. I've been in it a couple times and a famous celebrity comes on, but no one ever notices, because it is the last place you would ever expect to see someone from tv.

 

I think it's  actually pretty great that someone just surreptitiously took a picture rather than causing a fuss. Anyways, the more often fusses are caused, the less often we will see the girls in casual everyday situation like these.

 

Anyways, I'm SO excited, finally a variety performance for sunny!

From what I gather of the other top comments this Lee Seo Jin (?) guy really wanted her to come on the show. Also mentioning Na PD alot. Has this Na PD and Sunny ever worked together?

Gah when does that variety Sunny went on air lol, the pics and vids have been the cutest things ever.

 

I don't think it's going to air for a while :[ 

I wanted to find out too but it turns out that the episodes that are airing now are all part of 'Season 1' which consists of their trip to Europe- first Paris, then Strasburg, then Switzerland (and somewhere else I think?) and in the last episode that aired the grandfathers had only just left Paris. The trip to Taiwan on the other hand is considered 'Season 2' =/

 

Let's not forget, since  2012 the styling of hair and dress of the girls are going down. Do they got a new

stylist or what? because some of the messes the stylist has been doing are unforgivable; like the horrible

white and blacks outfits for the Japan tour and the Barbie dresses for the world tour. 

 

 

 

 

 

The girls are tiny ,why not get a short dress or a dress accord to her height where the girl can walk comfortable?

 

 

Seohyun dress was not bad ,but again the length of the dress didn't match her height and in close ups the dress looked

wrinkled. But nothing beats this , how can you dress your artist with a dress not her size and then try to use pins (or

whatever they used) to fix the problem of the dress?

 

 

Couldn't find a better pic right now and still you can see how they tried to "fix" the bust of the dress to accommodate her

size, making look awkward in some angles: 

 

 

The messes they made Sooyoung wear is again unforgivable. I hate the fitting, color, cloth of the dress and why

the stylist didn't used a more dramatic or appropriated make up for an evening event?

 

 

 

 

The mistakes I mentioned (from many they have done) could have been avoided if the stylist took in account ,the body type ,

height ,size, skin color/hair ,and even the cloth of the dresses. SNSD are in a position where they can get many sponsored dresses,

I don't know why the stylist/stylists are not doing their job right  or trying at least to get dresses that fit perfectly to their bodies?

 

 

 

 

aaaaaaaaah thankyou for compiling this! These stylists have actually gone off the wall bonkers with their choices lately. Everything from their red carpet appearances, to both tours, and even a lot of the outfits for The Boys and IGAB which border on being tacky. 

Unfortunately I recall the stylist winning an award at the end of 2012 so I doubt they will change how things are going. I wonder if Knetz have the same complaints.

Ethnic identity is common in other Asian societies but in present day, the emphasis of blood purity in ethnicity is quite unique to South Korea.

 

Korean ethnic nationalism began during the colonisation of the island by Imperial Japan. The Imperial Japanese ideology was informed by Social Darwinism where they believe the Japanese race to be superior due to their pure blood (lack of intermarriages and ethnic homogeneity). Imperial Japanese believed that Koreans shared the same racial stock (but Koreans were subordinate to the Japanese) and attempted to assimilate them into the Empire through the imposition of Japanese culture e.g. the usage of Japanese language, change of Korean names to Japanese ones, adherence to Shinto religion. In their resistance to the Japanese efforts to eradicate the Korean identity, Korean intellectuals of the time started asserting their own unique heritage in the similar veins of blood purity and descent from the gods. This Koreanness then became a source of solidarity for the Korean people during the Japanese rule of the island.

 

Post-WW2 Korea then entered civil war. The economy of the South at the time was faring worse than the North as the North ended up with more natural resources and industry. South Korean president Park Chung Hee harnessed this pride in Korean identity that stemmed from Japanese rule and persisted after the war into official policies to guide the country through the modernization process. Park faced many issues at the time that threatened his authority gained from a military coup: North Korea, economic backwardness, social instability. He invoked old Confucian values which claimed that every member of the society has a responsibility in achieving state objectives and that South Korea were an organic entity, like a family. Through the adoption of these official nationalist policies, hangul was made the symbol of national essence.

 

The Korean ethnic nationalism has its origins during colonial times which was institutionalised subsequently by its governments. Unlike Korea, Japan could no longer propagate racial conceptions of a nation due to the outcome of WW2.

 

In comparison, Chinese nationalism had a similar ethnic basis during the time of Sun Yat-sen. But the eventual control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) saw Chinese nationalism morphing into more of a Marxist rhetoric. CCP at the time also viewed the Chinese diaspora as some sort of agents of capitalism. However, there has been a renewed focus on the Chinese identity as a result of the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989 but instead of race and ethnicity; they focus more on the “100 years of humiliation†of China by imperialist forces as China is officially a multi-ethnic society.

I'm going to be Captain Obvious right now and state what everyone was probably saying years ago but this is the first time I've seen it firsthand, 

Ever since I informed a couple people about soshishows I've been keeping an eye on the stats and traffics. Firstly, there have been thousands upon thousands of pageviews on the site from literally all over the world. 

USA and Canada were at the top by a miiiiile. Followed then by the UK and Australia. Then Asia with Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines, then back to Europe with Sweden and Germany (the former of which has actually been consistently high). And just within the past couple of hours theres been Malaysia, Serbia, Chile, and the Bahamas. 

All of these people, from all around the world, visiting a blog, made on a tiny island in the mediterranean, about these girls from Korea. 

It really is Global Generation.

 

/please anticipate my next post about how the sky is blue and jyp is sort of weird.
