They announced today that they're doing a short live show in Tokyo for about 300 people on Wednesday and the same short live show for about 300 people in Osaka on Thursday.

 

As I understand it (from trying to Google translate the announcement), you have to go buy a CD single at that venue during that day to be in a draw to get admission to the show.

 

As in, you need to go buy a CD at that Tokyo venue between 07:15 and 18:00 on Wednesday and then you can win a ticket to attend the show that start 19:00. Same thing next day in Osaka.

 

 

 

 

 

I really don't know wtf they're doing. If they actually were going to do idol events to sell many more copies of the CD, this would be a piss poor idea (and both SM and UM know this).

 

I can only assume that this is some spectacle they're doing to get footage that can be shown in the morning shows and get some news articles etc. Kinda the same as with the L&G flashmob.

 

 

When has the Japanese marketing ever made sense. lol

 

But yea it would be just as easy to do 3 or 4 versions and do the old buy all versions get a showcase ticket in a couple different cities (like other groups do) and get a sales boost. If they are doing it as a substitute for TV performances than that seems wildly inefficient.

Ahh the duets, HyoKaiLay performance, Spectrum, Galaxy Supernova performance  I'm glad they changed some stuff up, the show needed it. Hopefully we'll get fancams!

They traded Devils Cry -> RDR -> Genie -> The Boys -> Mr Taxi  for  Flower Power -> Galaxy Supernova -> Love and Girls -> IGAB. Plus no girls dance battle and the fugliest possible outfit choices for IGAB, Gee and Twinkle.

 

 

I don't like this trend of no Genie for these events, should be a no brainer staple especially in Japan where it is thought of as the expression of Shoujo Jidai. -__-

Flower Power is perfection, so they can kick out whatever song they want to make room for it.

 

 

Flower Power is so.... common. Give the people a memorable show, the Iconic and widely beloved Mr Taxi or any number of album songs *cough*Bad Girl. Devils Cry is just the into for RDR, so it wasn't related to the duets. Those would be added more at the expense of the Jungsis stage, Seohyun and Kyuhun's Way Back into Love, DJ got us falling in Love again etc. I got no problem with that.

Wait is that real? Sticking with the cheesy Peace/Love/Girls thing. . . . *sigh* Just call it GGIII for Gods sake, it sorta rolls off the tongue and won't confusealienate casual fans. And what's with putting B sides on the album? o_O

 

Hopefully it will at least have covers/styling that are flattering and accessible but I ain't holding my breath. :( Definitely looking forward to hearing the new songs though.

I love me some SNSD...lord knows i do...but seriously no more glittery outfits pleasseeeeee :-( LOL

 

 

I'm surprised people were saying they liked the outfits. They still got those awful unfaltering waist flaps/skirts that make the girls look twice as wide, and the tailoring looks really cheap and costumy. :/

 

It's really a shame they employed a creative team that was so obviously passionless. The music is there, the intrigue for the girls is there but the lack of persistence, wonky imaging and all the baffling decision making really makes it hard for average Japanese fans to hold or gain interest.

Giving absolutely no fucks in Japan and only 3 song promotions over the course of 4 years in Korea would make it difficult to stay relevant.

 

It's kind of funny people think of SM as some marketing mastermind when in reality it's always been an astonishingly clumsy and thoughtless backing the girls have had to work with.

 

The only shrewd or forward thinking idea SM ever had was the lead into the first Japanese tour and album. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Digz or some other outside firm company that came up with that plan.

I understand why TY apologize coz some Ksone are angry and frustrated about the news and even ask her to apologize.

Ksone reaction are different from Isone not like with the other girls dating they just shrug it off. TY is big THING in Ksone thats why reactions there is way to different than here in Isone.

I'm not sure if I'm making a mistake by posting this but here goes. Once upon a time, I kinda helped to bridge some of the Korean fansites together with the international community. That seems like a long time ago. This time, there's a huge divide between opinions of some of the more known fans in the international community and the Korean community. I'm not talking about angry fanboys, I'm talking a group that includes prolific female fanartists etc.

 

So I'm going to stay as neutral as I can, but try to explain why there is a difference in response.

 

K-SONE are not mad that Taeyeon is dating. It's something else.

She apologised but she didn't apologise for the thing that K-SONE were mad about.

I find it laughable that they feel cheated by those posts. Taeyeon's IG is for her to share parts of herself to the fans, and those posts about Baekhyun did not defeat the purpose because he is now part of her personal life.

 

To add, Taeyeon has shown how mych she appreciate the fans through all the 7 years of SNSD's existence...but those fans just throw all of those up in the air because they are mad about the fact that she admitted to dating.

 

 

Let's toxify two, maybe 3 things that are innocuous at worst and completely ignore the undeniable overarching window of insight, fun, laughs, sharing etc. etc.

 

Yesterday I was really happy about the whole thing, excited about TTS comeback, the new Japanese MV (maybe even the Vegas photobook wherever the hell that is) but reading the bizarre lines of thinking and entitlement of some K fans has kinda taken me aback.

When they show all the music videos from 2010-2011 and live performances, I can't help but wonder what happened to the stylists from back then. They all looked so mature and sexy and the clothes they were given were perfect for the songs while still being visually appealing. Now all their outfits look cheap and recycled and their hairstyles look like they were done at a Wal-mart salon.

 

Like...SNSD is stagnant in Japan and is relying on their fanbase to keep them afloat now, and I know partially it has to do with the political stuff, but at the same time I can't help but feel like it's also majorly SM's fault. The singles post-2011 just went down and down in quality, the music videos got worse (sans Paparazzi), the tours lack solos so leaves them all exhausted from having to constantly perform (which makes it look like they're half assing), the tours look cheap in production, they have backtracked in image (from sexy back to cute), started to lip-sync more etc.

 

The albums (while still being good) are also not as cohesive as the first. I like the second album best in terms of individual tracks, but the first album is so cohesive and actually feels like a complete album. 

 

 

As a Sone since 2010, I just get sad when I think of how exhausted all the girls are when they are being so shittly promoted. Giving them disappointing and messy comebacks in Korea, and then just pushing out albums in Japan just to go on tour. Idk I just used to feel so much more excited hearing about a new Japanese album and tour. Now I don't really feel anything. I want SM to start caring again and put effort into promoting them.

 

Might as well not promote them at all and let them rest, than to promote them so horribly it does nothing for their career.

Well said. Whoever the creative team is for their Japan stuff should be publicly shamed for their work and just general carelessness. They completely lost the vision that was successful. I've ranted enough on it the last few years I feel like I've been regurgitating the same thing since Oh came out as a lead single.

 

I don't know if the no special stages tour stuff was really the girls idea or not, they did a ton of them for the one off Marchen Fantasy concert and seemed to really get into preparing them. Special stages are always what fans most look forward to in addition to breaking things up and giving everyone more downtime/rest. In the end nobody is going to be impressed that they perform 100% as 9 or whatever Hyoyeon said the rationale behind it was. lol

 

For Korean stuff they just need to be more active. If they are only going to do their group promotions for 1 out of every 14 months then It would be nice to see some actual ambition from SM, sub groups, repackages, follow up singes, but I would settle for just the competence not to have any major fuck ups on release.
