^ I preferred the JeTi duet on the Oh! album over the TaeNy duet on the IGAB album

Not even a day and we've already got multiple sets of scans and translations for Hyoyeon's EastTouch magazine photoshoot and interview. Gotta love them Hong Kong scones. I like this photoshoot a lot because it captures Hyo's charms well.

i hate watching fancams so imma leave it up to everyone else

whats the general opinion on the WorlD Tour so far??? i know people were disappointed with the second japanese tour so i'm hoping this one was better

it is the second Japanese tour but with a new name, Baby Baby, ITNW, Love&Gorillas, and Twinkle added.

And they got rid of some outfits for even worse ones.

Spoiler alert dmn and other delulus: good vocals don't make for good songs or successful songs.

Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Madonna. And if we're looking at Korea, T-ara, Park Bom, and Hyuna.

None of those artists have stellar voices yet the quality of their music is superb and their performances manage not to be sleep-inducing like some of Korea's prized vocalists.

Even though they're two of the weakest singers in SNSD, Hyoyeon and Yuri's cover of I AM is better than most SNSD songs and their performance has more charisma than any Twinkle live. #shadedontfade

edit: why do my rants always top the page? roflmao

But hopefully they know their own limitations and accept their roles. To give an example... In Japan, one of the absolutely biggest groups are EXILE. They sell lots of albums, they sell lots digitally, and they sell out many many dome concerts. That group has 14 members. 2 of them are singers. 2 of them do some singing. The other 10 are only dancers and not singing any lines at all. And to add to it, it's one of the dancers who is the group's leader.

If Sooyoung has some delusions of grandeur and thinks she can be a reknowned singer, then she can leave or take a break and go try her solo career as a singer. Hopefully she's much more rational than that and will want to stay as a member of SNSD (and use her "spare time" for acting roles instead).

So it's ok that the dance line doesn't get to sing and they can stay as backup dancers with no lines because that would ensure the group lasts longer and have more success?  As I've pointed out beforehand, the promotion of some members of the group while neglecting others is what causes groups to fall apart. ex: Danity Kane, Destiny's Child, Pussycat Dolls, Jackson Five, etc. inb4 you blame their lack of success as the reason for their breakup.

Also, it's fucking hilarious how you bitch and moan when I want the dance line to do dance performances [what a shocking and controversial suggestion!] and then you bitch and moan when people ask that they receive more than 1 line in an SNSD song. If they don't dance and they don't sing, do you just expect them to stand on stage and look pretty? Oh that's right, you don't even think they look pretty.

Sooyoung never said she wants to be the next Mariah Carey. She just wants more parts.

Hyoyeon never said she wants to be the next Rino Nakasone. She just wants subunit activities.

You're not a SONE. You're an SM stockholder.

You don't prioritize what the girls want, you prioritize what you foolishly think will be better for SM's revenue.

I singled out Sooyoung and Yoona, because those 2 have boring voices that aren't unique in any way.

Unlike Hyo and Yuri which have much more entertaining singing as shown in that cover. But they don't exactly fit many of SNSD's song, and I doubt they are good enough to become any mainstream success.

And MJ obviously had a good voice.

Madonna is literally the queen of trends and marketing. She's awesome at music as a business and deserves all her success.

T-ara is the anti-Madonna. They got lucky and got some hit. Then they did everything wrong and have nothing anymore.

Bom has a voice that I guess many don't like. But lots of people love it too, so her songs are doing well.

I have no idea why you put Hyuna on that list.

And I have no idea about why you have Hyuna on this list

If Sooyoung and Yoona have boring voices, what does that make Taeyeon's? They may all lack a distinct vocal tone but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be given lines. Yes, Taeyeon is obviously the best singer so she should be given most but that doesn't mean they can't find a place in a 4 minute song for the dancers to get a decent part. Furthermore, as I've explained many times, the dance line isn't doing dance performances so they're being shafted in both departments.

I'm one of MJ's biggest fans (I own every one of his CDs and a lot of his tour merchandise) but his vocals deteriorated by his 30's. His vocal climaxes mainly consisted of screaming, shouting, and his signature "yoo-hoo's".

Focusing on sales again I see... Refer back to the part about quality.

T-ara's albums are excellent, almost filler-less productions yet even their lead vocalist Soyeon struggles live.

"Dance line shouldn't sing more."

"Dance line shouldn't get dance performances."

"Hyoyeon shouldn't get more screentime."

"SM shouldn't put more quality into the concerts."

but...why...?

Oh because that might possibly mean less money for SM. We can't have that now can we...even if it means the girls' desires won't be fulfilled.

I also must add that Sexy Love is pretty much a flawfree mini and I stream every song daily yet the vocal quality is T-ara standard as in below par.

Their Absolute First album deserves to be in a museum.

another hit discussion to add to my collection

:troll:

Going off on a tangent here...I'm a fan who thinks this fandom has taken SNSD's #1 spot and all of their countless awards and achievements, built it up for more than it's worth, and think the girls are in a much more comfortable and safer seat than they actually are. IMO, the era of idols is clearly on the decline. And SNSD have clearly lost some ground. I don't mean that they're closer to losing their #1 position. But that they don't hold as big of a share at #1 as they did a couple years ago. Mainly because of other groups gaining popularity, the debut of like 100 other groups, and them no longer promoting 24/7. Rather than forgetting how lucky we are, I think we've forgotten that SNSD isn't invincible. (Just to clarify, this has absolutely nothing to do with a more even line distribution). I don't mean to say that they're about to disband or lose their place on top soon. But more like I think their decline is coming sooner than a lot of people think or are willing to believe.

Whew...I tried to word that as softly as I could. Gonna end this on a different note so I don't get accusations of being emo like my bias.

I think the biggest problem with all of the success SNSD has earned is that fans are quick to bring it up as an excuse for everything they do.

It enables complacency - not just on our part, but also on SM's.

If you see my posts around the rest of the forum, you'll know how I feel about the direction k-pop is going in.

It's like all these groups set bars for themselves and they're just not able to reach them again.
