International Press Covers SNSD on Winning YTMA Video of the Year

Girls′ Generation (SNSD) has been getting worldwide spotlight for their MV I Got a Boy. 


SNSD won the Video of the Year award at the first ever YTMA (YouTube Music Awards) on November 4, making headlines in media outlets all around the world, including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, ABC News, and the New York Times.

There has been much attention given to the fact that SNSD, a K-Pop group, was the first to win the award, and gives hope that K-Pop could potentially rise as a leading genre worldwide. 

CNN News read ‘K-pop group Girl’s Generation beats Miley, Lady Gaga at first YouTube awards†and introduced SNSD as a national phenomenon in Korea. The Wall Street Journal named SNSD a big victor, siding them with Eminem, and predicted their success in the American music industry in the near future. 

In addition, Reuters, an international news agency headquartered in London, also featured SNSD on their page, reporting that they are still on their way up in the American music charts. 

SNSD will be holding “2013 Girls’ Generation World Tour ~Girls & Peace~ in HONG KONG’ on November 9 to 10 at the Asia World-Expo Arena.

On the last day of the Hong Kong Concert, the Girls knew a SONE, whom they have met before the concert, who was seriously ill yet traveled more than 10 hours to the Hong Kong concert before her medical treatment. One by one, during the concert, each member went to the tip of the stage to wave and smile to that SONE.

 

Three hours passed quickly and it was their last song -- Twinkle, where the Girls had prepared some autographed balls for the audience. At that moment, HYOYEON went in front of the seating zone where that SONE was, waved at her, and tried to throw her autographed ball to the SONE:

 

1. First attempt, it went over that SONE's head.

2. Second attempt, it went wide to the left.

3. Third attempt, Hyoyeon pointed at the SONE, indicating that the ball was for her and her only. Without any other contender (Thanks to the others around her), that SONE finally received the ball, the one with Hyoyeon's autograph.

 

Ms. Kim Hyoyeon, this act of kindness: it is very thoughtful of you. We very much appreciate it.

I have already posted on this 352193486823476593248523194875913241573298 times over the last month.

 

And exactly as I had predicted, TVXQ have their comeback in the first week of January but the CD isn't released until Monday 6th.

 

I have said that SNSD's comeback most likely is 2 weeks after TVXQ, with first stage on MNET on Thursday January 16. Probably CD release on Monday 20th.

 

DBSK's comeback is in celebration of their 10th Anniversaries, and they only have a 2-week comeback? 

Or SNSD's and DBSK's comeback are going to overlap?
