Not really. After the YTMA last year, SNSD got a lot of international coverage, particularly in the US. Even CNN reported about their win against the biggest fandoms in the world, and the comments in that article were so many. I was online during the aftermath and there were so many hits on their MVs, especially IGAB. Despite the negative feedback from the other fandoms, people who were aware of YTMA but didn't know SNSD looked them up.

And people who keeps saying that YTMA is irrelevant should think again. I signed up on YT when it was barely a year old and I've seen all the changes and improvements that happened in the site over the years. It is one of the most popular websites on the planet. And with the world reaching 7 billion in population, and assume half of that surfs the internet, then this website is one of the best places to market any product, be it in music, films, cars, etc.

Mr. Mr., from what I've observed so far, is well-received by people outside of the fandom, and also from the Western areas.

SM just wouldn't be man enough to capitalize on the free publicity the group is getting outside of Asia

Like maybe release an English version of this song? Since it was originally produced in English, I sure bet it would blend in with the rest of the pop releases in the US.

But look at SNSD's mentality. Their effort has drastically waned post 2012, clearly showing that they are overworked and lack the motivation they once had. Furthermore, they all speak about what they want to achieve as individuals through the SNSD brand, never what they want the overall brand to achieve, evidencing their interest in solo pursuits whether it be in music, acting, the entertainment business as a wider medium etc.

They received a lot of coverage, yes. However, there is little to suggest that it furthered the SNSD brand. None of their videos have view spikes aside from IGAB which was disappointing low in my opinion, although the YTMA where a new, un-televised, award show so it was  largely to be expected.

Likewise, the YTMA are not an established award show by any means. Viewers were limited to members of numerous fanbases who where watching purely to see if their fave won or the view their performance. It carried little weight in the grand scheme of things and thus, to reiterate, did little to further SNSD's chances of a successful global expansion. The show will, if given time, can make a name for itself but there is little to gain from it in these premature days.

As for Mr.Mr's reaction, it was largely reserved to Western fans and casual listeners. There is no basis to assume that it would resonate with the masses, after all, it isn't even doing that in Korea. Moreover, Western radio wouldn't touch it with a barge poll; they rarely stray away from trends unless there is a song which is built for radio yet pioneering a new sound in a palatable, commercial format (Poker Face/Rolling In The Deep/We Found Love). The only chance for a big hit is big name producers - SNSD do have an edge given how much a visual act they are but nevertheless, that is not enough to garner radio support.

Mr. Mr. is a slow song...

Mr.Mr is 113.5 beats per minutes.

Songs like Slave 4 U (110 bpm),

Stronger (108 bpm),

Buttons (105 bpm) and

Single ladies (97 bpm)

all have significantly more complex and interesting choreography despite being SLOWER songs than Mr.Mr.

I'd rather see the girls execute these simple yet effective choreo.

We were spoiled by The Boys and IGAB's choreo too much we were expecting something even better this time around.

The Boys was remarkably simple though.

The problem with this choreography is just it is plain bad. You don't need to justify it. Compared to IGAB and whatnot, it is awful; as a separate, individual entity, it is still awful. Simple.

The usual, telling Chinese 2NE1 fans to continue making her hair pieces at $0.01 a day etc

Has there been any information regarding how SM initiated the relationship with The Underdogs? I, for the life of me, can't think as to how or why the arrangement was set up, especially given The Underdogs are irrelevant in the world of pop and have yet to write a single for a major act?

At least Teddy Riley had connections to Korea prior to working with SNSD while also having the bragging rights (not in my opinion) of being one of Michael Jackson's producers.

A JungSis sub-unit would most likely give rise to good music, certainly more so than SNSD as a whole or TTS so I'll take it.

jung sis subunit is a fuckin waste ,,,its better with just an snsd sub unit o snsd comeback and fx separate comeback this year ,the jungsis will only result to further  delay of snsd comeback  :>_>:

You can keep running your mouth while JungSis are running to bank. Fume away.

How i feel when i listen to Gospel Girls

model.gif

You feel like a proud, young, homosexual man, a man who you believe shouldn't have have his secular, same-sex marriage recognised under law because you want him to adhere to your religious beliefs?

Okay, booboo.

wow, sis. That is some bitter ass tea.

its an exaggeration. Its a harmless gif. Get over it. You've got some serious beef that im too grown for. Boy bye.

Equality isn't bitter, equality isn't tea, equality isn't an exaggeration, equality isn't too old or young for anyone, just how your attitude isn't harmless. It is regressive, it is passive aggressive and most of all, it is dangerous. Social change, something which you are outright against, endangers political and economic growth.

On topic, I love Sooyoung. She has the potential to be a great performer.

sm's ceo is gay that s why he only allows his bg to preforme there!

A) Nobody does pop tours like the gays.

B) Nobody grasps the concept of 'the bigger the better' like the gays.

C) Kim Young-min is not gay.

D) Your usage of the word 'gay' is, whether intentionally or not, implying that homosexuality is negative. Please refrain from this.

I don't care who is or who isn't between their legs, all I want is good singles, good albums, good performances, good videos and a seamless era and we haven't had the first in a year and a half, the second ever, the third since 2012 bar a week of great IGAB performances, the fourth since Paparazzi and the later since 2011.
