Q. the reason SH chose this musical as her debut work
I’ve watched only historical dramas since childhood. As I was truly fond of it, I naturally began to have a dream of playing in there. And when I wanted to play in musical, I met this historical musical. Moreover, I’ve been into drama TMETS for a while before. It was really great and Yeon-woo character looked attractive so I dimly had a desire to play Yeon-woo character one day. And like a miracle, this musical came to me. It was amazing and I was happy.
Q. First impression about Yeon-woo character while watching the drama
Yeon-woo was 13 yrs old, but I guess age depends on people. While there’s a child like an adult, there’s also the one whose mental age is lower than that of his/her peers. Yeon-woo looked like having very high mental age. Of course, she was pure and had fresh charm like peers, though. Still, I felt she seemed closer to a lady than a girl. A mature and wise woman.
Q. After acting Yeon-woo character in person, now…
Yeon-woo is a woman close to my role model. If I were a man, she would be my ideal type. I admire her that much. So I’m deluding myself as Yeon-woo these days (laugh). As reading the original novel, I tried to regard it as my personal diary. And it helped me to understand her character better
Q. Their love btw Yeon-woo and Hwon looks literally fateful. Do you believe this kind of love?
I do. Is it because I still have part of girlish sensibility in my mind (laugh)? People say they can notice their marriage partners right away. And they say, while there’s a man who can’t make you feel like getting married to him even if you’ve dated with him for 10 yrs, there’ a man who can let you feel like ‘this man is my destiny’ as soon as meeting him. Though there was a time I asked again like ’really true?’ (about that kind of love), now I believe destined meeting can be happened.
Q. Not only Hwon(crown prince) but also Yang-myung(Infante) love Yeon-woo pathetically. If you should choose only one man btw them in reality, who will be?
Too difficult (laugh). Still, on the one hand, I think like this. Even if Yeon-woo chooses Hwon in the play, I guess her decision may not result from entirely unshakable mind. (When Yeon-woo hears the news of her failure in Crown Princess competition), Yang-myung drops by her to say he is ready to give up everything of him for her and run away together. If I were her, I think my mind would seriously go seesaw then. When I’m already fated not to be able to be together with Crown Prince, YM gives me his devoted love. Hwon really is the complete package, (then I doubt) can he still choose me after throwing his everything for only getting me? But YM did for YW. That’s why I prbly choose YM if I am in her shoes.
(note: the failed two ladies in top3 Crown Princess competition were supposed to live alone for the rest of their lives in Joseon Dynasty)
Q. You look very good in Hanbook(traditional clothes). Can we expect another historical drama?
Sure. Everyone close to me knows very well how much I like historical drama. I’ve collected all my diaries by now. As reading one of the old ones a while ago, I found out some traces of tears on a page. So, as looking into the page with saying like ‘what was this for?’, I got my word on it, “today Heo Jun(famous Korean doctor in Joseon Dynasty) passed awayâ€. It was because I was a fan of the drama ‘HeoJun’ then. I rly loved historical drama that much. While other friends played dolls, I was doing historical drama plays in Hanbook.
Q. Then, who do you want to act among historical figures?
Hwang Jin Yi (the most legendary gisaeng of the Joseon Dynasty). I prefer progressive woman than protected one. When women could hardly get credited for their talent under the heavy social discrimination of the era, she set clear goals and cultivated her own fortunes thru the life. Such an attitude of her made her look truly cool. Tbh, the young tend not to read historical books much. I also could study history thru dramas rather than books, another reason I came to have a dream in this genre. I hope I can help the young friends to be close to history.
Q. When was the moment you got the energy the most from fans lately?
Mostly I get the power by reading fans’ letters. I’ve collected those in one spot. I open one by one whenever I feel troubled. Then it helps me a lot at the right time. As reading “I feel happy by unnie’s favorâ€, I think over like, there are ppl affected by me in a good way so I should get over my own hardship now.
Q. SH 10 yrs later… 
First, I hope I can keep playing in musical. No, definitely I will be doing it bc I want to do this for a long time. Since keeping training very hard, don’t you think  the future myself will look improved much better than now? And I’ll be acting and singing as well. Also, I’d like to continue to donate my talent cuz I hope to help ppl’s dreams to come true as long as mine can give them energy, even if it is nothing but feeble thing. I am greedy. Life is just one time so I willl keep having a dream.
