hmm thats right. she bought a mansion or whatever right?

i thought itd be sunny since shes cousin of the sm ceo or whatever

She bought a flat costing $2,500,000. However, that is not to say she payed it in full. More than likely, she took some form of mortgage on the property, a bank conformably lending the money due to her earning potential which is likely to continue for some years.

Sunny is the niece of Lee Soo Man, however, he isn't the CEO of SM. I'm not sure with the specifics of his previous and ongoing role as of now though. Lee Soo Man's wealth is also due to the profits of SM over the years. This doesn't mean that Sunny's household would be rich, especially given LSM isn't dead and specifying Sunny within his will as someone who will receive a portion of his wealth. Likewise, she is his niece and certainly in my experience, nieces and nephews do not receive anything in the will of an uncle etc.

That would be ideal and I hope the girls took this advantage .

But do they actually want to take more matters into their own hands or ultimately handle their own promotions or music?  Praise Godga if they bless us with

a self  produced album . Still all that seems questionable/ unlikely ..

I'm not expecting a self-produced album ever. Song production is a craft that requires YEARS of work and effort. That isn't to say that they can't compose of write songs, however, I for one don't think their music is good enough for them and they are likely to write and compose to that standard sadly.

Just a reminder in case anyone forgets,

Its our resident impersonation expert, Goddess of Food and hairporn, witty remarks and legs-that-go-on-forever, cheerful princess , bane-of-all-danshins, height-representative of SNSD, the one who sees everything and misses nothing edible,

Miss Choi Sooyoung's birthday in 5 days time.

I look forward to increasing the number of pics in my Sooyoung folder when that day comes.  :raep:

Yet there are 'teasers' being created for Taeyeon's birthday. We all know how it is.

it still seems weird to me that they fear YG and 2NE1 that much.. doesn't really shows a lot of confidence from SM

I highly doubt SM would get cold feet from a head-to-head between SNSD and 2NE1. If anything, they would be aware of the increased competition that it would spark in regards to physicals which would result in more profit. Likewise, SM are more than aware of SNSD's power in Korea. Every top act has an imperial phase whereby they can release almost anything and see it smash: Lady Gaga between late 08-early 2011, Britney 1998-2000, Rihanna late 2010-ongoing etc. Basically, SNSD have been experiencing their 'imperial phase' since early 2009 and it has no sign of stopping. The ability for a song as jarring, incoherent and unfriendly as I Got A Boy to become the 11th best selling song of 2013 is more than testament to that.

Additionally, SM's A&R department, although horrific at compiling tracks for albums, have a knack for picking singles for SNSD which resonate on a massive scale with the general public. Why would this be any different?

Needless to say, 2NE1 are as much a digital power within their domestic market as Miss A circa 2013. Furthermore, YG's marketing post 2011 will have severed the size of their fanbase significantly so their is only one realistic outcome; SNSD will add another career defining song to their discography that will likely chart within the top 10 of Gaon's yearly download chart and release a mini-album which will undoubtedly chart within the top 5 of the Gaon yearly album chart.

So, what is there to fear?

Sooyoung just got 100k followers within 2 hours. Global superstar!

Queen of Pop.

Lets think for a minute, many Sones have been complaining that this world tour is cheap. Cheap production, cheap tacky costumes, hardly any special effects , no hanging on wires, only cheap inflatable props.

Compared to their previous tours, it is cheap apparently. for a supposed world tour, its not very impressive

But why?

Its to cut cost, but not for SM to save money.

Its to attract your local events company to bring in SNSD's concert to your local city. Making it cheaper means these  companies will be more interested to bring in the tour to their country. Becos then they can make a bigger profit.

Unfortunately, it did not work, the companies in europe, North & South America probably still did not want to take the risk. These companies still think rabid fangirls will only support male groups. They don;t see the massive fanbase of SNSD.

I disagree with a fair portion of this. SM simply cannot construct a tour of quality because they don't want to splash out on $$$. Less expenditure = more $$$ in the bank at the end of the day.

Moreover, we are fans of SNSD for the output, not the logistics of it. I for one couldn't care any less if they weren't making money provided I was getting high quality music, videos, performances and tours. In my long winded posts about SM's management, I do consider the financial feasibility of my ideas just to show that SM can create high quality products and output material worthy of SNSD's ability and status at a reasonable cost but that is not the focus.

Also, your justification of what was a bad tour still doesn't make up for it being a bad tour.

I'm relatively confident that these outfits:

snsd%2Bfirst%2Bjapan%2Barena%2Btour%2Bgr

cost less to make then these:

65184824.jpg

So yes, we have a mutual agreement that SM don't spend much money on their tours, albeit with differing reasoning. However, this is more-so a discussion about SM's creative team being awful. Even with the small budget they set aside for their tours, with enough planning and a pragmatic and resourceful approach to the task, a quality tour can be made, regardless of the low budget.

I just posted this in my sales thread and thought some of you might be interested:

I Got A Boy - Sales

Week 1 - 319,824

Week 2 - 242,803 (sells over 500,000 in 2nd week) (fall in sales by 24.1%)

Week 3 - 150,377 (fall in sales by 38.1%)

Week 4 - 124,873 (fall in sales by 17.0%)

First 4 Week Sales - 837,877 (61.1% of sales were composed of downloads made in first 4 weeks)

Week 5 - 86,626 (fall in sales by 31.4%)

Week 6 - 77,981 (sells over 1,000,000 in 6th week) (fall in sales by 10.0%)

Week 7 - 59,059 (fall in sales by 24.3%)

Week 8 - 45,833 (fall in sales by 22.4%)

First 8 Week Sales - 1,107,376 (80.7% of sales were composed of downloads made in first 8 weeks)

Total Sales - 1,372,401

Okay, this post is relating to sales predictions and whatnot for 'Mr. Mr.', SNSD's future smash.

As seen above, the first four week sales are when the bulk of downloads occur. In IGAB's case, 61.1%.

Furthermore, in the first four weeks following the release of IGAB, sales fell by 24.1%, 38.1% and 17.0% in the second, third and fourth weeks respectively. This averaged at a fall in downloads of 26.4% in the second, third and fourth week of sale.

I think, given SNSD's status, media interest and the fact that this song should be coherent, unlike IGAB, Mr.Mr. could, hopefully, sell 1,000,000 within the first month. If it follows a similar sales trajectory with a decline of 26.4% per week in the first four weeks of sale, the following sales would be required per week.

Week 1 - 381,708

Week 2 - 280,937

Week 3 - 206,770

Week 4 - 152,182

Likewise, if we also predict total sales based on the longevity and sales trajectory of IGAB, it could potentially sell the following.

First 8 Week Sales - 1,320,786

Total Sales  - 1,636,661

A total sales number like this would, if released in 2013, it would chart at #5 on the Gaon Yearly Download Chart.

Side by side figures of Mr.Mr and IGAB respectively, just to prove that this isn't out of reach:

Week 1 - 381,708    319,824

Week 2 - 280,937    242,803

Week 3 - 206,770    150,377

Week 4 - 152,182    124,873

Weeks 1 to 4 - 1,000,000    837,877

Weeks 1 to 8 - 1,320,786    1,107,376

Total Sales - 1,636,661    1,372,401

Gaon Download Yearly Chart Peak - 5    11

Either way, they will be making

I thought we all have the freedom of speech or maybe I'm living in another world? Didn't know artists threads exit for us to only say nice things. I thought they exist for us to share our opinions. No matter if they're negative or positive. Am I bashing Taeny? Did I say a bad thing about that? Oh, and the thing is. Taeny singing most of the tracks is not even an opinion, it's a fact. Everyone with a working pair of ears can confirm it, no?

If I wanted to stir shit I would make a thread just like those embarrassing people who supposedly do not care about Girls Generation. I would also throw a rude comment doubting Taeny's vocal abilities. Am I doing it? No, so what exactly is your problem?

Drag a wee bit.

Tiffany has a lot of bandwagon hate, even in this fandom. People want their biases to get her high notes and find it unfair she has so many parts now compared to their bias so they do anything to make her look bad.

But that's Kpop for ya!

It isn't that Tiffany is getting more lines, it is that she is getting a disproportionally large amount of lines compared to other members combined, her own vocal ability, what is necessary for the song and her qualitative effort as an SNSD member, especially in the last few years where she frequently shows little to no effort on stage and replaces her choreography with incoherent ad-libs.

Taeyeon used to have majority if not all of the ad-libs and I never saw anyone complaining like how they do with Tiffany. Taeyeon is also one of the members who slacks of sometimes when they're performing dance tracks and yet I don't see people raging like they do over Tiffany.

Tiffany is just bandwagon hated. I'm not buying the rest of that.

Taeyeon is undoubtedly their best vocalist though, of course nobody would complain when their best vocalist, renowned throughout Korea for her vocals, would receive the most complex notes. And yes, Taeyeon is one of the laziest members as of late. However, Tiffany is more extroverted and lazier so she receives the initial blunt of the dragging but Taeyeon is ALWAYS next in line to receive her lashings.

I seriously fucking can't understand how some of you are bitching about SNSD being treated bad and SM favouring other groups, when in reality they've obviously put in lots of effort in SNSD's new release and in the process ruined the promotions of their most senior group. SMFH.

They have been sloppy and the entirety of this mess is on their part.

Can talk about the entirety of the Mr. Mr. campaign being a badly executed version of what I said I wanted from SNSD? From the urban based pop sound, the release of the music followed by a music video later to the BEYONCÉ styled - dropping it out of nowhere following a period of minor promotion?

My impact.

SNSD have certainly earned that title, the tile actually meaning something in Korea. However, when will the 'nation's girl group' actually start proving their musical worth as opposed to their media and entertainment monopoly?

I don't want another release this year. I want SM to devote time contacting guaranteed hit makers, crafting an album which actually resonates with a majority of people for once. SNSD's releases for the last 3 years have not been experimental with the exception of IGAB's arrangement so the end product is unjustifiable. For a song to not be experimental yet receive such scathing reviews speaks volumes with The Boys, IGAB and Mr.Mr. relying PURELY on SNSD's brand power, although, the The Boys and IGAB were accompanied by cleanly executed marketing.
