I only visit from time to time and srsbsns is being discussed.

IMO, (I haven't bothered to look back beyond 2 pages btw) the whole drama w/ TTS started when TaeNy stans started defending TTS against a boycott which seemingly no one else read about except them. But honestly, they're quite known to be biased for Taeyeon and Tiffany 90% of the time and suddenly they're proclaiming OT9 for an album with only 3 members in it and one of which gets ignored by majority of TaeNy fans. Each of them continuously defended themselves and their ship in a big circlejerk of backscratching. Looking around twitter, what I saw was disappointment that their own biases weren't going to get a subunit/album of their own and general dislike for another "TaeNy era" in which Seohyun was bound to be winner of "Most Cropped Out Member" for the 2nd year. Sure interactions wise, between the girls themselves, there are a lot but fans never painted that picture when you see all the mucore gifs that would float around with TaeNy shippers sometimes calling Seohyun as the "wall" or cockblock of TaeNy.

So what were they really defending against? They probably tried to preempt an attack on their ship by conveniently using "OT9" when in fact it wasn't necessary since the dislike was on specific fans and not the girls themselves.

Of course they're a product. They're artists too. That's the whole point of artist agencies. If someone is a talented artist but don't want to be resigned to sing in their local church on their spare time and instead want to actually make a living on being artists, they sign a deal with an artist agency which can help to package and sell that artist as a product.

The sales of Flower Power as a single is really completely irrelevant to SNSD/SM in the bigger picture. Flower Power was really released as promotion for the Girls&Peace album.

And they obviously tried to promote the album but they were completely cockblocked from Japanese TV (well not completely, they seem to have a good relationship with TBS, but that's only the 5th biggest network in Japan). Maybe you've somehow missed it, but Music Station which is the prime music show on Japanese TV has still not invited a single Korean artist ever since the Dokdu issue sprung up in summer 2012. It's almost been a year already.

I'm very anxiously awaiting to see what promotions SNSD can do for the LOVE&GIRLS single. Because KARA struggled pretty badly to get good TV promotions and T-ara got absolutely nothing.

And I ain't stalking U-KISS so I don't know anything about them. I would guess that they're still studying and just being part-time singers. Maybe they're doing a huge amount of live performances where they get some bucks for each performance. I don't know and I don't care.

And no, I don't own any stock in SM (or YG or JYP). I wouldn't consider that a sound long term investment at current prices (even though the stock prices have dropped a fair bit from their peaks last year).

Someone who sees the industry similar to the way I do.

IMHO, TTS was heavily supported initially because of the "OT9" mentality and because people had to buy, sometimes multiple, albums/songs, there is a direct effect on how big the support they get from the fandom. Remember the drama around TTS promotions because people were sharing the songs via youtube and people were dissing anyone who couldn't afford $7 for an album off itunes. It was also then that the reminder that KSones sees us as "foreign cockroaches" was relived. We're only good for boosting SNSD sales. They're griping about SNSD getting more activities overseas ergo lesser time to be in the country.

However, if you look at the activities of the other members: dramas, photoshoots, variety show appearances. There's almost no direct and continuous effect financially to SM for that. When drama licenses are sold out of the country, it will depend on the contract with the artist/company if they get shares from that beyond the pay they get for the run of the drama. Ultimately, it can mean that at the end of the day only the production company earns after filming.

So who is left as the most financially profitable venture? TaeTiSeo. Because SM can continuously sell it and they are the majority profit takers in the venture. Also the main reason why they'll continue to sell the three as a product in the future regardless of what fans feel about separating the 9. Sure they still need to sell the 9 as a whole (that's what I think the concert tours are for mostly) but I  think they've already sent out feelers on which members sell the most to the fans via the separate member cover albums. You bet they track the sales of each member's cover. This way they can decide whose project they can go big on and expect big returns. You need the numbers to be able to sell that to investors/shareholders. "Support XX's project XX because she was able to sell XX albums."

It's sad to see but it's how businesses thrive and grow. Let's not forget that first and foremost SM Entertainment is a business.

Judging by the down votes I guess I walked into Onion territory. It's a shame his minions can't see how condescending and egotistical he is. All these dumbass clues he gives you are to feed his ego. He's saying, "I know something you don't know and I'm gonna wave it in your face."

My take on this is he's basically media playing in the fandom for SNSD. Leakers like him and Cecil are never specific. The old ones that were to a degree a bit specific got burned. They're privy to something but they're not allowed to fully divulge but are entrusted to be able to tease, to raise interest. It could be like you say feeding his ego but it also generates buzz as well. I don't care if it feeds his ego since I got something in return that implies that the girls have something coming up, something to look forward to.

To be honest you don't really have to care about the guy and what or how he is. That's just personal bias.

In the end it's SNSD who we're here for. Anything that makes me look forward to their activities in the future is okay by me.

There were these hugee TaeNy fights before the place split.

TLC is pretty much slow now. Theres YoonSic but it's calm and shipping is toned down.

SGSD is more like the old place I guess. That's where most people went to continue the

crazyness (?) . I haven't seen a shipping war yet.

Well it's all fun and games til you go scpt's level.
