Maybe I don't follow SNSD religiously enough, but can someone tell me why everyone is saying Seohyun was a third wheel in TTS? Every show I watched with them, every performance, etc. she was just as much in it as the other two. I haven't seen any fancams of Seohyun intentionally cropped out unless it was specifically a Taeny video in which case DUH it's only going to have Taeny in it.

 

It seems people have a prejudice against Locksmiths (I hate TaeNy as a lesbian pairing so clearly I'm not one), but it seems like that is clouding their judgements and they are shading Tiffany and Taeyeon and making it seem like seohyun is some sort of victim. 

 

If TTS is the only sub-unit why is it even that surprising? Look at SISTAR, Afterschool, Rainbow, etc. Do you seem them with multiple sub-units? No. SNSD would be the first group that I know of to have a different sub-unit every time.

 

I see no one complaining when Taeyeon doesn't have activities, but as soon as she gets something "Ugh why is SM shoving Taeyeon and Tiffany down our throats!" Cause who cares if their only activities were pictorials, the sub-unit, and music core!!!!!!!! Let's just pretend all the other girls are locked in a dungeon while Taeyeon and Tiffany are promoting with TTS and Seohyun is crying because she is being neglected!

 

In all seriousness, Everyone has a right to their opinion and a right to state it. I'm just so tired of reading negative comments about Taeyeon and Tiffany or their fans/shippers even though I'm not a shipper myself.

 

 

 

Meh, I disagree. I thought Seohyun was pretty obviously left out in TTS, as Taeyeon and Tiffany are really close. It wasn't too serious (T-ara levels) but I think she would have been more comfortable with someone else, like Yoona or Hyoyeon.

But I'm happy TTS will be back, I really loved "Twinkle" I just wish they added SunSica to the subunit but well....

 

 

A Vocal line subunit would be really great. Day by Day was good and Danny Boy was flawless.

 

I have to agree with the person who said before that the dance line do not have a good technique to carry a song by themselves. I am pretty sure Yuri and Hyoyeon lipsynced I Am at Romantic Fantasy. And they were just ok when they sang As Time Goes By. But if Hyuna can sing on her own, so can the dance line (even Yoona).

Sooyoung has done an OST before with Yuri though, and she had been offered to sing the OST for "The Third Hospital", so I fail to see how her voice isn't "good enough"? Hara sang an OST and she isn't exactly Ailee. Rather the quality of her voice, maybe it's because she isn't promoted as a vocalist so people/composers don't go to her as a first pick.

 

I don't really have a place in this argument, but I agree that the dancers should be able to sing more lines. I remember Taeyeon complaining the same way Soo does before, but 1. That was a long time ago 2. Regardless, she really has no place to, I think. She always gets a chance to show her vocal prowess at the end of songs/gets OSTs/etc. Tiffany never complained though, she just stated she sings more in that one TTS Chocolate (?) interview, and that she likes it. Then again, she's getting almost the same opportunities Taeyeon is nowadays. I don't recall Jessica complaining ever.

 

Sunny has the right to complain though, because she's pretty much on Tiffany's level yet barely gets a chance to show her vocals recently. And honestly, the whole "there won't be enough lines for members blah blah blah" argument is so wack tbh. There have been songs in SNSD's discography (esp. older discography) that has a pretty equal amount of lines for members. I agree, the lead/main singers should def. sing more than the dancers, but it honestly makes no sense for the main singers to dominate the whole entire song while all the dancers (if we're lucky) sing a two second part. (for example, Beautiful Stranger, Hyoyeon and Sooyoung's part was literally 'yo' and they shared it with Sunny are you srs.) Basically, the dancers should get more lines than they have, esp. capable vocalists like Sooyoung and Yuri tbh. I don't understand why TTS for example,(even Jessica, the second main vocalist is fading) has to sing 90 percent of a song while the dancers sing 5 seconds combined. Even with 9 members, it's definitely capable. (Genie, Baby Maybe, Express 999, Trick, Oh!, Gee, etc.) Why can't someone want more lines for the members who don't get any??

I agree. I don't know why you got minused, when you have valid points. I've been recently watching a lot of RDR performances and there all the members have equal parts. They pretty much all got to sing an equal amount of lines, even Hyoyeon and Yoona. Baby Maybe was also a really great showcase for the less used members, I remember being shocked by how good Hyoyeon sounded in that.

Excluding TTS and TH endorsement with Sooyoung I wonder when Seohyun will get to shine on her own. She talented, nice and imo has a body to covert and I can't really think of anything, never mind something major, that she's done solo. I get it that in the past she's been the uptight one but I think she's been cracking out of her eggshell for a while. Once she's out of her shell its going to be time for her to really shine. Can't remember if I read it here but if you help a chick out of their shell they end up dying because they don't have the strength but if you make them do it themselves then they'll survive. I wonder what SM will have install for later on. 

On the old hallyu8 someone mentioned Seohyun was supposed to act Suzy's role in Introduction to Architecture, but SM rejected it. That film pretty much kickstarted Suzy's popularity, I wonder how different things would be if Seohyun was the on in the film instead.

Really? Was there any basis for that rumor? It could've easily been started by someone who thought Seohyun would have fit the bill of a "first love" character.

 

However, if it's true, there is no guarantee that Seohyun would have seen the same popularity that Suzy did. It's not just about who plays the character but how. I watched that film and while Suzy wasn't spectacular, she played a normal high school girl. Seohyun could've potentially come off as stiff or awkward, depending on her acting ability.

 

I do wish she gets a drama role soon though. I'm curious to see how she acts. And she's majoring in acting, right? That shouldn't go to waste.   

I don't know, someone mentioned it. It could be a false rumor, who knows.

 

Honestly, I don't think Seohyun would be a good actress. I am still surprised her major is acting. My point was that Introduction to Architecture pretty much started the Suzy mania. I wonder if she'd be half as successful as she is now if she wasn't in that movie.

I'm sorry but the BomFany thing is bullshit, yes she uses Botox (like most of kpop idols/k celebs ) but she's not at Bom level 

 

The whole Bomfany thing is a joke, SM's surgeons are way too good to make a mess like that. But Tiffany overdoes it with Botox, her face is odd sometimes.

 

2010 was the worst period, she's better now. But I wish she'd stop it (and whatever Seohyun did to her cheeks).

2010 wasn't good for her, especially early in the year, Knetziens "bashed" her because "fat" "big head/face" etc...and she began to change (skinnier etc...)

Nope, they bashed her because of the ps she did (although i think it was just botox) in the second half of 2010. I could barely recognize her in the JPN Gee MV.

i'm just so proud because Sooyoung is a good example, that to be in a drama, you need to show your ACTING SKILLS and not JUST A PRETTY FACE. netizens always bash on her, just because she doesn't fit their beauty standards, and that's just so lame and sad

 

to know that Sooyoung is praised by professional critics or is mentioned in magazines is a big step for her, imo...hopefuly, she will receive more acting roles in the future

Hmm, I don't really see sunbae praising as worthwhile. Lots of sunbaes praise Suzy and she's pretty bad.

I wasn't particularly impressed with her acting in The Third Hospital as she kind of played herself and wasn't natural. But she improved in Cyrano. I don't think she's as good as Uee or Eunji (def don't think she's A+), but she's getting there.

SNSD ain't got no time to sit writing autographs at fan signings day after day after day for a month in Korea to sell albums on Hanteo.

Just like SNSD ain't got no time to do handshakes at events day after day after day for a month in Japan to sell singles on Oricon.

But didn't they do that? A couple of days after the album was released, or maybe I'm mistaken.

idk I just find it odd that The Boys sold more in the same amount of time. Maybe there really aren't any more albums.
