Not really... While you are kind of right, it's best to say 'some' than majority no?

I mean, I'm a HUGE Yoona fan but I still love OT9. I personally think biases are natural, there are some members we like more than others. Doesn't mean I don't like the other member though..

 

My ultimate favourites are Yoona, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Sunny & Jessica, but again, as I said, I love all 9. A SONE is someone who loves all 9 of course (well that's how I'd define it)

 

Anyway, I can't believe there's no news AT ALL about the JP single. WTH.

Where's Sooyoung?? :( she's the best at giving hints!

Undeniably the cutest in Soshi (and one of the sexiest when she wants to be).

When I first got into SNSD in 2008 there were only few members (at first) that I had instantly loved, one of the three were Sunny. We had a discussion about our favourite vocalists in SNSD back in H8  SNSD thread ages ago, and I was one of the few who said I really loved Sunny's voice. Personally when she sings the 'right' songs (not overly cutesy) her clear voice makes me shiver. I love, love, love her voice - I don't like to compare so much between the girls but as I said previously Sunny & Seohyun's voices are my favourites. (personal opinion, doesn't mean they're the best, but my favourites to listen to)

I really want her to properly showcase her voice in the girls' next album, soooo badly. 

I wish her a long-life filled with happiness and laughter ♥♥♥♥♥♥ aaaand hugs&kisses (which she can't recieve :( since I'm all the way in London)

 

As it's her birthday, I'll dedicate my first 'spam' post on this thread to her ♥

I loved TTS's album to be honest, so I'm ecstatic that they're coming back. I had a feeling they were, since Taeyeon put (3) & (9) on her instagram bio.

 

But I'm kind of upset that Jessica & Sunny aren't getting to show off their vocals. As far as I'm aware TaeJessFanySunSeo are the 'vocal line'.

On another note, Yuri & Sooyoung have their acting projects. What about Hyoyeon, Yoona, Sunny & Jessica? Last year the individual activities were really nicely divided, I hope this time round it is too!

 

By the way, that album Tiffany was talking about, is it the English album she's referring to? Or a potential Japanese album? I doubt it'd be Korean since the girls had IGAB early in the year, and a subunit album coming soon.

Yoong is actually an alto hence why whenever she sings she struggles because most of Soshi's songs are often mezzo soprano range. I said this before a few years ago on soompi, should yoona have the chance to sing, she should sing songs in lower register because it would definitely show off her glorious resonance and tone of her voice.

I can't wait for Sooyoung's drama!! :D I think I'll be spazzing on the Soompi thread for the drama. I just wish Sooyoung removes her bangs, and straightens her hair, instead of the curly wave like what Yoona had in Love Rain which I had to get used to at some point.

 

Anyway, I have high expectations for her <333 I loved Third Hospital and her segments too ;.;

 

I haven't said much about L&G, for some reason I'm not really into the song, I usually like summery songs but I don't know there's nothing that strikes me in the song, and the choreo is do random and dull :/ their JP albums > JP singles!

 

If Animal or Reflection were singles, they would have SLAYED. K.O!

 

Oh well, there's always next time, I'm anticipating Lingua Franca though

Seems like there were lengthy discussions few pages back.

 

I'm actually worried about how SM are handling the girls and I'm seeing a similar pattern from last year where the girls promote in Korea in the first quarter of the year, go Japan (release singles/have tours) in the second quarter, then ending the last two quarters with individual activities/have concerts here & there.

 

It makes me think, SME/UMJ aren't even handling the girls to the best of their ability and have been half assing Japan for about a year and a half now and yet the girls are readying themselves for the US, that requires EXTRA effort, determination and sheer luck at times to just 'breakthrough'.

 

The girls have SOOOOO much potential in Japan. Sure, probably your average music listening Japanese person have heard of Shoujojidai but SNSD aren't SNSD just because of their music, they came to be as they are for their personalities too.

 

I don't see why the girls can't work on their Japanese to be honest. It's been nearly three years, and the girls haven't showed any significant progress other than Seohyun (who's absolutely amazing in every way) and Sooyoung (of course, who knew Japanese already). I mean if Seohyun could learn & from what I've seen, understand Japanese to some degree then I don't see why the rest of the girls can't?

 

I know the girls are super busy, but I find it quite disrespectful now, they're there to literally make money, they should show at least some interest by learning the language. They're singing to their own fans, spreading messages of love/happiness/'insert any other emotion/feeling' through their JAPANESE lyrics, they may as well understand what they're singing. Plus, naturally their performances will be more heartfelt if they do.

 

I understand it's not entirely their fault, SME probably told them not to focus too much on Japan but idk... Having a strong hold in Japan will not only benefit them in the present but for the future 'post-SNSD' as actresses.

 

Some of you mentioned subunits in different parts of Asia... I think it'd be great for Japan. Especially Sooyoung who I could totally see promoting/guesting on TALK shows.

 

I hate to be the one to say this but if SME/UMJ keep the girls as they are, half assing Japan, promotion upon promotion, single upon single then they'll definitely lose their footing in the Japanese music industry.

 

It's becoming frustrating... As a fan of the girls since 2008, I've literally seen them grow and it saddens me they're not showcasing their maximum potential in Japan.

 

I rarely criticise the girls but I keep getting disappointed with their Japanese activities. The girls said they wanted to be recognised as artists and as artists they should wholeheartedly take on Japan but I fear they're not.

 

Regardless, I'll always support the girls in whatever they do.

That last line that I bolded basically nullifies everything that you wrote. They want to be seen as grown up artists (whether through music or acting). They don't want to be on TV to record humiliating TV shows with all the new idols and old C-list celebrities.

 

And if Music Station are promptly refusing to allow any single Korean artist to perform, there's not that much they can do about it.

Today is the first day for Sooyoung's drama, all the best for our Choi actress and hopefully the drama will be successful (just like another famous tvN drama Reply1997) Most of SONEs already recognized her acting skill and think she is better than Yoona even though she got smaller role in 3rd Hospital, really! Sooyoung is truely the best actress out of all SNSD members but she is so underrated *sigh* but yeah I can feel that this time SM promoting her drama a lot and many SONEs also really anticipating it!!! GO SOOYOUNG2013!!

 

But I was still really disappointed at Korean tbh, first, SY was a 2nd female lead in 3rd Hospital (just like Yuri in FK) but they didn't even put her name for Paeksang's popular awards, only Yoona and Yuri's name were there *sigh*  and when they announced that she will be the 1st lead for new tvN drama, those Korean netizen were like how?? how?? how??? they even think they'd accept it if it's Yoona.... what?? They prefer worse one instead SY??? :( Now Sooyoung has new drama while Yuri has new movie while Yoona has none hmmm makes me think SM started to realize only SooYul have potential as actress so they are promoting them and let Yoona stick with only CF and Jessica with magazine.

 

Some talking about sub-unit, I just hope if they will be another sub-unit, hope Yoona is not part of it, she may not be my bias but I have nothing against her at all. We know she won't be the vocal, I still remember when the trio danced Dejavu at KJE Chocolate and 80% of camera focus on Yoona when there are another 2 better dancers dancing in the same stage, if TTS is Taeny with Seohyun... so if it's sub-unit with Yoona, it would be Yoona and friends... so I hope not....

If you want to compliment a member there's no need to put down another member to make your point. There's constructive criticism then there's just seething hate coming from your posts. You sound like you do have something against Yoona. In all honestly, I think Sooyoung is more natural at acting then Yoona, I don't think Yoona's acting is horrible or bad, it's decent depending on her roles. (see how I spoke without bashing another member?) Sooyoung is definitely underrated so I'm hoping Cyrano Agency will open doors for her.

Yoona was casted in dramas mostly because of her popularity, I remembers Love Rain's PD said he chose Yoona because they wanted to export drama to international market and Yoona is well-known as one of most popular member of No.1 Asian girl group, that's why. She was casted in Cinderella Man because of the effect of YAMD's popularity too. Now that her 2 latest dramas became flop as well as her popularity dropped, the opportunity moved to Sooyoung and Yuri instead.

 

And for those acting ranking usual base on popularity atm, just like how Suzy is No.1 now when we know there are many idols who can act better than her but they are just not as popular as her. Sooyoung has the best acting skill out of all SNSD members, followed by Yuri, that's the fact. So, It doesn't matter she wasn't make into the list of any ranking as long as she keeps getting praise from drama's PD, staff, her co-actors, SONEs and general viewers. All the praises she receives going to make her get more offer and better role in the future.

 

So excited for Sooyoung drama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not yet. I heard a rumor though that Dramafever has the exclusive subbing rights for it. If that's true then then they might try to block any other fansubbing. Rumor is they are the reason Kimchidrama, Soju.com, and daebak subs no longer exist..........

 

It's true unfortunately. Dramafever are a pain and it's unfair for Kdrama watchers outside of N. America & S. America. I can't access their subs :( It's happening with a Japanese drama I'm currently watching (Itazura na Kiss, Love in Tokyo) who dramafever have gotten subbing rights for. But not to worry, dramacrazy usually have the subs up within a few days ^.^ (they use DF subs)
