SM needs to do something about it, better thing to do is to officially release everything on February 24th (12AM).

I don't think this will affect their digital sales at all, Wolf and Rum Pum Pum Pum MVs were released days before the official release so people could easily download an audio rip from the MV.

If the GP likes the song, people are going to buy it. Leaked or not.

It is gonna be affected :._.:

The initial expectations is what make people stream on sites like melon and mnet.

With this leak, SNSD is gonna suffer for their initial burst ( i.e your roof hitting and stuff) but if the general public digs the song then it's gonna sell well.

So now lets see how SM does their damage control. Will SM release it on the 24th?

Or will they simply just wait till next month and hope everybody forget how it sounds like. SM -> amazing company.

SM vs YG : SM self-destructed.

Things to look out for at 6.00 kst:

Soyu's Some is still charting very well on melon. If you monitor the charts carefully, you will realize their song always end near the 3rd quarter of melon's graph. The disturbing part about "SOME" is its longevity on digital charts.

Longevity beats spurts of outburst, I am sure we all know that.

Due to the fact that SM announced the comeback 4 hours before the release makes it hard for SNSD to hit the roof straight upon release. I would be a happy sone if they still manage to achieve that.
Reason in spoiler:

The hype would usually bring the song to the roof of melon. The hype is accumulated over days which is why companies would set a specific time of release to allow fans/general public to anticipate. However in our case, Koreans have only 4hours to find out about the news. So odds are, not many( unless you're a sone or an idling individual who have nothing better to do) know about the up and coming release. Hence the initial stream/download wouldn't be as impressive.

I think we should be prepared in case SNSD's 1st hour doesn't hit no.1 straight away because 5pm is a pretty weird timing and Soyu's graph is always very high.

Album:

SM is just doing a team kill releasing both dbsk and SNSD on the same day. Repackage don't sell as much but so do minis. DBSK's sales would still be something to reckon with even though it's a repackage. Oh and there is CN Blue as well. They sell very well for a non-SM group.

We have another possible longevity song coming: Park Hyena & Park Ji Yoon just released the official soundtrack (Korean animation dubbing ver.) for Frozen OST.

I doubt so.

Nothing from Frozen is gonna sell better than Idinal Menzel's Let it Go right now.

Mr.Mr is dropping fast.

SM needs to release the mv to keep the interest going ..

It unlikely we can remain top 5 after 2ne1 release their songs(because of many reasons) but that doesn't Mr Mr cannot regain their top 5 position after a week or so.

Either way, lets brace ourselves for threads like 2ne1 won SNSD ,blablabla  ....

YG really made a mess out of this comeback for SNSD.

YG has nothing to do with the mess SNSD was in. All YG was trying to do is to ride on SNSD's popularity.

The screw up is purely SM's fault. I don't understand how a company managing top hallyu stars can have corrupted/loss data and an official "leak". The data loss is actually true judging from how SM didn't release it together on Monday.

It seems unlikely that SM wanted to sabotage SNSD since they still rake it lots of cash for SM and they are still in their prime ( average of 25yo).  Basically, SM self-destructed even before the battle .

Will there really be a positive correlation between MV release and chart placements?

Take Soyu's Some for example. Roof hits aside, even when it's not hitting roof, you can see the song chart in the top quarter of the graph. From that, we can see that it is gonna last for sometime. So Soyu winning over SNSD isn't entirely unexpected.

The MV is probably ready judging from some tweets from official source.

Anybody got the screen cap of the tweet?

They couldn't do it now because music bank's album score is only 5% compared to 10% when they won 6 times there.

It's not entirely because of that as well. No matter how much ksones plan they would never be able to fight off the broadcasting points. The last time I was still following mb kchart, the broadcast points went as high as 20k.

That was during the PSY fiasco. MB adjusted the amount of BP ever since then.

I mean the reason why SNSD couldn't pull off more than 5 wins after the boys is because of the BP.

I checked Music Bank recent k-charts and their broadcast indeed went back to the 2010 days.

SNSD could have been more explosive if they don't announce the release 4 hrs before the release. Anyway that is over so no point crying over it any more.

After the official promotions kick off, I predict mrmr to enter top 3 on charts again assuming there's no new digital juggernaut coming out. But that's just how I think.

Wasn't all this expected? I mean the whole aim of releasing later than snsd by a few days is to media play. I believe some of you have read what I wrote weeks before the release. Getting affected by the media play is just ridiculous.

Opps I forgot that's how media play works ; creating a false impressions about things.

Btw, when we search for the mv on youtube why doesn't the original smtown mv show up on the search results?

I had the same question  on a separate thread yesterday.

The one in charge of promotions in SM should be sacked.

The youtube views are increasing slowly. 1 more hr to 24 hrs right?

Might be around 2.9m, still hope we can hit 3m though.

Slayou is no.1 on melon again and the gap today is huge. So SNSD losing out to Soyu doesn't mean they aren't doing that well.

Oh and MrMr is finally promoted on Melon, god bless that son of a bitch that's in charge of the promotions.

I clearly saw "Mr.Mr" wrote in Korean for the name of the artist though.

Anyway now I see CNBlue being recommended lol.

Yeah now i saw the Mr mr 's Mr Mr being recommended but just now I really saw " The 4th Mini Album `Mr.Mr." beside the artist's name.

I shouldn't have refreshed just now because after i refreshed it changed.

For all we know maybe the melon admin got the wrong Mr.Mr.

SNSD haven't passed 3million on Youtube yet.

Unless we see the actual no. on youtube, it doesn't count.

Weekly Charts:

Melon: 2 (SNSD wouldn't get no.1 weekly any more)

Mnet: 2

Bugs: -

Ollehmusic: 1

Genie: 1

Soribada: -( can't find Mr Mr )

Naver: 2

The no.1 is none other than our strongest rival on the digital charts....

Soyu -_-

Anyway it's interesting to see how both 2ne1 and SNSD be unable to get melon weekly no.1.. .

Tbh I was expecting 2ne1 to top SNSD on the weekly charts because they are much more explosive(judging from previous releases), so to see SNSD in front is quite surprising for me.

Uhm, if you want to include TTS, then SNSD isn't the most awarded. Big Bang with units and solos hae 113 music show awards. 56 group + 57 solos and units.

And really... people underestimating SNSD's weekly charting. Come on. Everyone knew SNSD would get the #1 in the weekly digital charts with 6.25 days of charting, including the explosive first two days. If BJs really thought 2NE1 could outrank them with their 4 days, they clearly overestimated their unnies. Not even Sistar's group song or IU can outrank SNSD's new song with just 4 days. Only Busker Busker can do that. I wish people learn to manage their expectations. Anyway, great comeback from the girls. I am also very positive that they will rank high(er) in Billboard charts next week, including 200 and Hot 100! History will be made on Thursday with SNSD's Hot 100 debut! My reasonable bet is #70-80.

It's not true that only busker busker can do that. To name a few, IU, Leessang(judging from tears performance & gary's shower later), Infinity Challenge,PSY, Big Bang and of course BuskerBusker. I am not underestimating SNSD's chart performance but it is a fact that SNSD just isn't as explosive as the ones mentioned above. Twinkle and IGAB barely had any roof hits and even The Boys roof hits are over a good 4-5days( an average of 2 per day). Also, SNSD rarely gets more than 3 roof hits in a row.

Soyu got mnet and Melon's weekly no.1 and that's like almost more than half of the digital market share. She won SNSD by sheer longevity... SNSD was fighting against a 17days old song and lost out within 1 day. If anybody is slaying SNSD on the digital chart, it's not 2ne1, it's Soyu and of course Sunmi too.

Soyou and Jungigo are doing a good job with their song.

Youtube is conspiring against this comeback...

:troll:

Perhaps there are too many people trying to cheat the system ..

Beyonce's Partition have 26m views(8days) with 144k likes while SNSD Mr Mr got 5.6m(5days) views with 231k likes. They probably tracked the IP address.

oh great!! is there any predicition how many the album might sold till the end of the month?

Then you better hope Gaon produces the monthly chart tml which is unlikely since the month is pretty short. We re up against dbsk so it could be an open contest.

For hanteo I think hoot(also a mini) sold 46k in 7 days. Today is mrmr 7th day as well so we lol see if they break hoots record.
