Hello hello! I'm new here but I've been lurking for a few weeks now.

I'm just giving my 2 cents about the MV and the whole comeback, and it's up to you whether you agree with me or not.

First of all, I gotta commend the girls for the hard work and patience for this comeback. I'm sure they've all been very excited with this comeback but certain circumstances delayed it.

Second, the MV (in my POV that is, I'm sort of into video-editing and have been for like almost a decade) is brilliant if you rate it overall. Of course, the company lost the data and they tried to salvage what they can. I do think the MV would've been of epic proportions if things went smoothly. Someone posted the breakdown of the MV, and by reading that, you can actually tell that this MV is well-crafted and artistic.

I am biased, I gotta say that, but I seriously didn't have it in me to dislike the MV. The purpose of the MV came across since SM did release a statement that it is of the mysterious sort. Well, it is mysterious and a tad creepy. It would've been interesting if they opted for a drama MV though.

People are complaining that there wasn't enough dance sequence. Don't you think it's a clever move by SM to tease the people about the performance? I do think it will be awesome when they perform it live. And it will give the company an option to release a Dance version of the MV maybe later on if the demand is high.

SNSD is slowly stepping out of the "box", figuratively, but people are still complaining. Eh.

Last but not the least, people aren't giving SM enough credit for this comeback. Oh sure, SNSD deserved more promotions, but really, it's SNSD. Even small petty things about them gets reported (e.g. Tiffany chewing bubblegum at the airport). The group itself doesn't need much push in terms of promotions.

The song is produced by a team that has an impressive credential in the US music industry. So, not only is the song unique and public-friendly (more than IGAB anyway), it may also appeal to Westerners. So that's killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I am hoping they recorded it in English because this would've been a preferable song to introduce to the US market than The Boys.

SM also made an effort to make the best of the MV despite the loss of their data. I remember when this news came out, most people thought it was just media play against YG, but it turns out to be true.

Even if you want the best for SNSD, some things are just out of our hands. The only thing we could do is support the group as best as we could.

But seriously though, no music company is perfect. At the end of the day, it will be business for them.

This was supposed to be 2 cents but turned out to be a dollar.

Is it just me or does it seem that SM really lost a huge chunk of the original MV?

You can tell by the hairdos of some of the girls. I noticed a handful of scenes where the hairdos were recently done by some.

It's a shame really.

It's very easy to manipulate pictures. I would believe this if someone captured it on video.

Youtube's got this warning though. And it's really pointless complaining about the number of views especially when Youtube updated their viewing policy.

I think the Youtube servers can't handle too much traffic, and they have to be meticulous with the view count.

4 million in 2 days is still very impressive though. The 10 million project would've been achieved if YT didn't change their policy.

Edit:

I just noticed that the view count on the statistics isn't the same with the one on top. Tiffany's best friend just failed.

The amount of likes is impressive considering how much I see people saying that they don't like Mr. Mr..

Mr. Mr. is doing really well despite the negative feedback it got during the first few days.

The song is not your typical dose from the KPop genre. It has a more Western vibe to it.

Change is really hard to adapt to, that's why people didn't like it at first but then warmed up to it after a few more replays. Same thing happened with IGAB.

And you gotta love the international coverage for this comeback  :ahmagah:

I think Healing Camp would be good for the girls. They're going to approach their 10th year in a few more years.

If they have any bad feelings about the other members, the company, the music industry..etc, it would be good to have those out of the way.

Someone posted on Twitter or was it in this forum (?) of a hair dyed like Yuri's but looks pretty because it was curled.

I hope she tries that. It doesn't look good all straight up.

I heard Kim Youngmin was talking shit. Bitch about to get hit.

edit: why the downvote? My rage is all in favor of the girls, that guy is clearly killing snsd's power. No ot9 full album this year but a new gg debut? Watch the new group get all the flawless songs and us get the super junior treatment. SM should stop fucking around and see that snsd is getting bigger internationally and could be so much more.

If SNSD pulls a Shinhwa, I bet LSM will kick KYM's butt for messing the company up.

If the rumor is true that LSM wanted to reshoot the MV, hence the Nurse/Suits theme, that means he doesn't think KYM is doing a good job at handling SoKor's NGG.

And since SNSD reached their peak, the company could promote more internationally, instead of just Asia. They have so many fans around the world who wants to see them. I want SM to aim higher and make SNSD the world's most successful girl group while they're still young enough.

this is really upsetting (if it's true ofc) :/ poor seobb. and yeah shading is funny and all but i'd hate it if celebs saw and were affected.

snsd hasn't reached their peak in sk. They're still so high up and with good promotion and music, they could go higher. Yeah, i agree with you though, at this age they could do so much and achieve so much more. I'm so angry at what's been found out today. Last year, even though IGAB got a bad reaction, i never felt it was "the end" or some shit. I do think that LSM wants the best for the girls but SM is just focusing on their rookie boys at the moment. FFS, i am so enraged. I hope ksones do something. This is just embarrassing and very amateur of an "ambitious" company. Also, considering Taeyeon said we'd be "seeing them more in 2014", it's clear the girls have been fucked over as well.

Imho, they reached their peak the moment they were called NGG. It's been pretty much a constant ride at the top for the last few years.

I studied business in college, and I think the opportunity for SNSD to be more renowned worldwide is right in front of SM's doorstep. I am frustrated at them right now. Look at Simon Cowell handling 1D, he knew they could achieve higher after their first few hit songs, and now they're approaching the title as the only "billion dollar boy group".

I swear, Tiffany does a better job of managing the group than the company. Taeyeon could be in charge of marketing. Yuri/Sooyoung could take more parts in composing songs, Hyoyeon can do the choreography. And others can also help in areas where they are strongest. So, that's basically what would happen if SNSD went independent. I doubt that would happen but it's a nice fantasy.

Impossible . Just learning to compose is a bitch . It's not known  whether the girls actually have any abilities like  that at all. They can't promote themselves as well as SM ever did , with connections and all that. SNSD aren't self sufficient artists . And there's also the idea where the girls don't want to /can't be independent and musically involved .

Or at least half of them , and that's vital . Also even if they did all that.....then what?

What about their music quality? Label?  Video? Promotions? Everything...

Please don't get me wrong , I would still love for that happen successfully.

I pray that interview isn't hinting what it's hinting that seriously . Esp since it's from 2010. But it's a wake up call to

to the more unrealistically delulu sones, sooner or later that one gg will come in SM where they will say 'ah this is the

new trend, lets make them the new SNSD ' and they will do whatever they can in their power trust me . And they

can so easily start anchoring SNSD down. Just look at this "unlucky comeback"

After that happens , it's SNSD's job to choose  whatever they can to break out and do the unthinkable and evolve independently,or obediently  serve up their cash cow roles in SM in return for a softer "way down" , and our job as SONES is to stay by their side no matter what their choice is .

When you've got money, you can pretty much do anything, reach endless possibilities.

The members earn a lot each, and you can imagine their earnings as a whole. Plus, I'm pretty sure they're approached by so many companies to endorse products with really great deals.

And being SoKor's NGG, I suspect a lot of music companies have approached them, too.

Some also tend to forget that SNSD isn't a group of teenagers. These are intelligent adults, who clearly know what's up with the world and the music industry. I'm pretty sure they're very much aware of SM's handling of the group the last few years but they're too nice to the company. The group didn't get to where they are now solely on SM's work. SM actually got really lucky with the members. Imagine staying at the top this long with pretty much a clean reputation, and being well-loved by the home country. SM needs to give attention and effort to SNSD that they deserve.

Maybe in 2011-early 2012 you might have been right but any chance of worldwide releases and whatnot is dying out as we speak.

Not really. After the YTMA last year, SNSD got a lot of international coverage, particularly in the US. Even CNN reported about their win against the biggest fandoms in the world, and the comments in that article were so many. I was online during the aftermath and there were so many hits on their MVs, especially IGAB. Despite the negative feedback from the other fandoms, people who were aware of YTMA but didn't know SNSD looked them up.

And people who keeps saying that YTMA is irrelevant should think again. I signed up on YT when it was barely a year old and I've seen all the changes and improvements that happened in the site over the years. It is one of the most popular websites on the planet. And with the world reaching 7 billion in population, and assume half of that surfs the internet, then this website is one of the best places to market any product, be it in music, films, cars, etc.

Mr. Mr., from what I've observed so far, is well-received by people outside of the fandom, and also from the Western areas.

SM just wouldn't be man enough to capitalize on the free publicity the group is getting outside of Asia

Like maybe release an English version of this song? Since it was originally produced in English, I sure bet it would blend in with the rest of the pop releases in the US.

I am kind of curious about their outfits for the comeback.

It's going to be awkward for them to wear dresses during the dance break, and it's going to be awkward wearing suits with the other male dancers.

It's pre-taped, right?
