These new "NOW" teasers make me realize how much I miss Soshi variety shows from back in the days.

As for "Mr.Mr." mini, I enjoy it quite a lot. It has songs that are familiar to older fans of soshi as well as fresh new sound. My favorite mini from them by far. I totally understand the disappointment/frustration of fans that got into soshi because of songs like Genie or their earlier Japanese discography and thus expected something different, album-wise.

 

But, considering their Korean discography and the breath of their work, isn't this mini exactly the kind Soshi WOULD release? It's the same girlish pop sound that's been their bread and butter throughout the years (especially true regarding non-title tracks). As someone who fell in love with Girls' Generation from the bubblegum sound of their 1st korean album, I couldn't as for more

I just wanted to share my interpretation/read on the weird music video

 

 

 

 

My theory is that this MV is about a guy who's kidnapped by a bunch of witches (not nurses!) where they transformed him into a more confident version of himself.

 

Even though the MV starts with the surgery room sequence, the story actually begins at the parking garage where the girls kidnapped the guy. This part is show in flashback in the middle of the music video in black and white. During this cut, at the end you can see guys jumping around where the car is, as if to signal for help.)

 

Then SNSD (the witches) take him to the operating room through a tunnel (this is at 1:07) where Taeyeon is kind of leading the viewer (the guy) to her lair. You see this again later, when all 9 girls come through this entrance to perform surgery on him.

 

The entire time, he's under a state of trance (his eyes are opened, but he's unresponsive to the girls eating, sitting next to him, etc.) either through drugs or magic. This explains the various glitches and abrupt cuts through the mv as he is trying to piece back what happened through through the bits and pieces of memory he has. The various cuts from color to black and white as he's trying to make sense of the sequence of what has transpired.

 

SNSD proceeded to stop his old heart with the calcium chloride, then replace it with a jewel-encrusted one. During this cut, we can see images of candles which (for me at least) conjures up image of something more ritualistic, mysterical rather than scientific. It actually reminds me of the Frankenstein story with the girls ripping at him and replacing parts of his heart with synthetic one.

 

But before they do this, they showed him a vision of what he is through their eyes - a cool, sauve, slick guy. This is a reference to the man in the lyrics of the song, who's afraid, nervousness and filled with self-doubt, whereas the protagonist in the lyrics think of him as much greater than that (Mr. Rock This world!). Notice how the dance break scene is lit in white, to separate this "vision" from reality. This “vision†scene is also the most clear and least prone to glitchy cuts because the girls wanted him to keep that image of himself. 

 

After showing him his own potential, they finally the guy his heart (courage). After the wakes up, he has transformed into a more confident man who's capable of dancing with/courting the girls

 

 

 

 

Anyways that's just my take on the music video. There's a high chance that I could just be delulu and this weird video is SM's trying to scavenge the various pieces of the MV and piece them together the best they can.

 

My only qualm is that I want to see more of the dance, but unless SM decides to release a separate dance version, I'll just have to wait til the comeback performances. I like bits and pieces of what I've seen. The whole cuff link + bow tie dance is simple, yet cute and girly. I can see it becoming a hot topic.

why arent these bts vids on HD?

also dammit i was getting all excited visiting OH today hoping for full ver of chain reaction

but no...... gotta wait some more... 

 

Because the BTS videos are on the Limited Edition which is only available as a DVD. So only DVD-quality. It does look better on the actual disc though. 

 

Also... "Chain Reaction" probably won't be out until August 6th, which is when the Famima edition (the only edition that contains Chain Reaction) is set to be released.

I personally don't care if it's a remake as long as it's good.

 

TVXQ's "Mirotic" and f(x)'s "Danger" have proven SM can take a song and elevate it with its production and what not. I'm not too worried. That being said, I'm not in love with the original.

f(x)'s Danger was #6 on Gaon's year-end chart for 2011.
