This point has been made many many times before but this fandom needs to stop collectively pretending it's OT9 when it's obviously not. It's generally OT1 (or 2 if they ship). Again, that's not really the issue.

 

In the parts of the fandom where it SHOULD be OT9 (Soshified and its subsidiaries), it isn't. Hell, even the OT9 fansites outside of withsosi ignored Hyoyeon for a long time in terms of regular pictures.

 

No one is forcing anyone to like or bias Hyoyeon. But she is a member of SNSD, whether she's paid attention or not. Yoona is one of my least favorite members and yet I watched clips of Love Rain because I'm a SONE and she's still a member of SNSD. Taeyeon is also one of my least favorite members yet I follow her Instagram account and did since the first day.  I think Hyohunnies simply just ask for equal treatment, not equal like or popularity.

 

 

I don't think you are being fair though. The fandom as a whole believes in OT9, something that other fandoms can't even dream to brag about. Of course people are gonna have their biases and ships what did you expect, as you do as well, as I do, as most people in the fandom do. But that doesn't mean we don't believe in OT9, because for what it matters I do, and all the other SONES as well. Because a SONE in my dictionary is someone who may or may not have a bias but when it comes to choosing he always chooses the group. Any other person who only supports 1/2 or 8 members is simply not a SONE. Period.

 

 

As for instagram, it's only natural that Tae has more followers. She's more popular with the general public, she's been in IG for longer and she has almost uploaded 100 pics. Hyo on the other hand isn't popular with casual fans or the public in general, she hasn't been in IG for long and she's only uploaded 5 pics. You do the math.

Hmm okay...well at least they're almost at 300k, that's good for anyone. Maybe people are waiting to buy more until later on in the year when they can see how Soshi is doing compared to everyone else and bulk buy accordingly to put/keep them at #1? idk

 

 

Wow, did Shinee sell that much already with one album or is it their two recent albums added together? Either way, glad Soshi is at #2 and that they've almost sold 300k! It looks like individual covers are back in stock at some places now so that should help them get there! Imagine the numbers if they did have a repackage (with a photocard)  :stare: Get on it SM

 

It's their two albums combined. And yes if GG release a repackage album they're pretty much gonna slay every other artist in physical sales.

I simply don't understand how some people don't see the disservice they are doing to the group they support by continually attempting to cover over legitimate concerns or dismiss whole swathes of their fellow sones when they are expressing their desires and hopes for those they care about. What if everyone simply does as told and whenever something comes up they have a problem with they just say 'Oh thank you for what you've given me'. Nothing is killed when there is a wide variety of opinion. Almost everything is lost when there is only one opinion. Dissent can be useful, blind herding is not.

 

I don't even like the militant Hyohunnies, but damn I understand their growing number and sometimes appreciate their fervour and presence in our fandom. In part of the fandom its become a running joke that Sunshiners just despondently wait since we know Sunny isn't going to get anything. Neither extreme is overall very helpful and it fucking sucks that so many people want to gloss over our divisions instead of trying to get us working together to get all of our girls what we all want, health, success, their dreams realized and our enjoyment fulfilled.

 

At the end of the day, people like us aren't going away, we'll still be here loving and supporting our girls the best we can, appreciating what they do and who they are because that is what makes us SONE. We are SONE because we support, we are not supporting because we are SONE. Take a leaf from our idols, and engage in conversation, facilitating understanding and coming together as best as possible. Or is just throwing insults and shade or plugging our ears the best SONE can be?

 

I didn't intend for that to sound as much 'us vs them' as it turned out and I don't want to speak for other people but hopefully everyone gets my intentions. Apologies otherwise.

 

I think a variety of opinions is always important to a fandom BUT some "fans" just take it to a whole other level. I'm sick of people complaining every single time about everything like blah blah their music is shit nowadays blah the fandom doesn't care about my bias blah i wanted another subunit blah their sales are dropping what flops blah oh people ship them as a lesbian couple ew blah etc

I'm not saying it's wrong to complain about stuff. I, for one, enjoy long conversations and friendly arguments much more than spam posts but when it comes to a point where legitimate concerns turn into whining then there is a problem. And the problem are not the fans who don't want more of this whining. The problem are the ones who whine because they fill the fandom with such negativity when fandom is supposed to be a happy place for all fans.

 

Btw, I'm by no means talking about you personally. Judging from your posts you seem like a reasonable fan. I'm talking about some of the fans who are toxic to the fandom with their never ending negativity.

Also, this thread is great (and my home) because we can have these discussions and intelligent back and forths with any real malice or anger.

I am very happy we aren't that.

 

I always thought of Soshified as something we should take pride in tbh. It's one of the biggest international forums out there(and the biggest one in Kpop) and a safe place for Sones to fangirl. I see nothing wrong with that. And even though I only occasionally lurk in Soshified I believe there's a variety of opinions there as well. I mean, even if most people in the forum support SNSD blindly (nothing wrong with that either), it has over 250,000 members so a variety of opinions is a given. 

I really don't understand why some people are so butthurt over Soshified.
