DRAMA CASTING & NEWS

Man to Man teases James Bond cat and mouse games

by girlfriday

It’s finally here—the first teaser for JTBC’s new spy bromance drama Man to Man. It’s a frustratingly teensy glimpse at the two leads, but am I going to complain about Park Hae-jin (Cheese in the Trap) and Park Sung-woong (Remember–Son’s War) in tuxedos? I think not.

The pre-produced series from PD Lee Chang-min (Remember–Son’s War) and writer Kim Won-seok (second writer on Descended From the Sun) is a comic-melo-spy-action mashup about a secret agent who becomes a bodyguard to an actor. Park Hae-jin stars as a mysterious ghost agent with elite black ops training, and for reasons unknown his mission is to act as a bodyguard to a Hallyu star. Park Sung-woong co-stars as the actor whose claim to fame is playing badass villains, and he’s got secrets of his own that threaten his future.

Rounding out the main cast is Kim Min-jung (Gap-dong) as Park Sung-woong’s biggest fan who actually goes from being his fanclub president to working as his manager. Yeon Jung-hoon (Mask) plays a chaebol heir with insatiable greed and ambition who will become a foe to our heroes, and Chae Jung-ahn (Entertainer) plays his wife.

The show’s first teaser has Park Hae-jin and Park Sung-woong playing a cat and mouse game through a funhouse of mirrors, each in sleek tuxedos like they’re in the middle of a James Bond movie. It paints Park Sung-woong in a very mysterious light to have him chased by Park Hae-jin and evade capture at every turn, but I love the imagery of Park Hae-jin surrounded by all these reflections. Even more intriguing is the very end, when he shoots at the moving target only to come face to face with… himself? Great, now I’m suspicious of everyone…

Man to Man follows Strong Woman Do Bong-soon on Fridays and Saturdays beginning April 21.

Those who want to see Park Hae Jin in a prison uniform will have to wait for the release of an upcoming South Korean drama series. After "Cheese in the Trap," the actor will star in the JTBC series "Man to Man."

In "Man to Man," Park will play Kim Seol Woo, an agent of National Intelligence Service, the Korean CIA. The character will become the bodyguard of a popular actor named Yeo Woon Gwang (Park Sung Woong).

Kim Seol Woo is a man who is multitalented and mysterious. The story of "Man to Man" will revolve around the budding bromance between him and Yeo Woon Gwang as they encounter events with various twists.

The script reading for the upcoming JTBC series took place on Oct. 3, 2016. Filming started on Oct. 17 and still images of Park while filming in Hungary were released in November 2016.

Before shooting scenes in Hungary, Park met with some Hungarian actors for rehearsals, Koogle TV has learned. The Korean actor is also a master of martial arts moves but he had to train to adjust to the difference between Hungarian and Korean body builds.

Photos of "Man to Man" filming obtained by Drama Fever show Hae Jin wearing various outfits including a suit, a cassock and a doctor's white coat. In other photos taken in Budapest, Hungary, the actor is wearing an orange prison uniform.

Set to premiere on April 21 on JTBC, "Man to Man" is a romantic action thriller series directed by Lee Chang Min and written by Kim Won Suk. The writer is known for his work in "Descendants of the Sun," which starred Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.

Joining Hae Jin and Sung Woong in the main cast of "Man to Man" are Kim Min Jung as Cha Do Ha, Yeon Jung Hoon as Mo Seung Jae and Chae Jung An as Song Mi Eun. Do Ha is Woo Gwang's fan club head while Seung Jae is a third-generation chaebol who is married to Mi Eun, a former Miss Korea.

Actor Park Hae Jin will still be busy with his schedule even after ‘Man to Man’ finished its shooting process.

The actor has finished filming ‘Man to Man’ on March 6. He has spent all his energy and focus in this drama for about 4 months.

However, it seems like Park Hae Jin won’t be able to rest anytime soon. After ‘Man to Man’, Park Hae Jin has to finish shooting commercials, which has been put on halt for these 3 months. After that, he has to pay a visit to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, as the people from Madame Tussauds are making his wax figure to be exhibitioned in their museum. Park Hae Jin’s wax figure is going to be the 9th Hallyu star wax figure from Madame Tussauds.

In mid-April, Park Hae Jin will start shooting the movie version ‘Cheese in the Trap’. In April 18, he’s going to come to ‘Man to Man’ press conference, and then in May, Park Hae Jin will start having fan meetings in 6 countries.

What a busy man!
