Vogue: Meet the New K-Pop Star Making Waves on the Front Row

"Let’s get one thing straight: CL is not the only fashionable member of 2NE1. As bombastic as the K-pop star’s style is, her bandmates give her a run for her money when it comes to putting together cool, attention-grabbing looks, and the fashion world is starting to take notice. Case in point? This morning, Sandara “Dara†Park, the group’s resident multitasker, joined the front row at Fendi alongside such stars as Serena Williams and Ellie Goulding. As singer, model, host, actress, and Instagram icon, Park is one of the most prominent celebrities in Korea. She has been able to make an impact on-screen and online with both her style and genre-defying career.

First appearing on the scene back in 2004 as a contestant on the popular reality competition show Star Circle Quest, Park’s talents earned her a fan base so big that producers gave her acting roles in movies and television—ones that were naturally hits. Park released hit singles in the Philippines years prior to 2NE1’s debut, thereby reversing the traditional girl-band narrative by becoming a household name before she joined a group. While Park’s distinctive pop vocals are a key component to her success, what truly has pushed her to the top is her personality. CL might have
title on lock, but Park’s effortless cool, willingness to be funny—her hilarious social updates are almost as famous as she is—and dedication to her fans has allowed her to seem like the pop idol next door.

Her vibe may be chill, but Park takes her fashion very seriously. It isn’t enough to just be cute; she consistently pulls together outfits that mix the best in insider labels. She has a soft spot for the streetwise aesthetic that has dominated the catwalks lately, but only its sweetest incarnations. She’s got the prerequisiteVetements hoodies, Off-White sweatshirts, and Saint Laurent bomber jackets, but they’re in pastel tones—plus she wears them with neon pink Timberlands. Difficult to find gems like 99%IS’s 10 Corso Como Seoul exclusive coat or Gosha Rubchinskiy’s sold-out beanies get mixed in with limited-edition Supreme or the latest heavyweight chain from Ambush. Even when she dolls up in a Thom Browne miniskirt or a lacy dress from Versus Versace, she’s one step ahead of the curve. On Instagram, where she frequently posts outfit updates for her millions of followers, she’s known for taking her share of risks. She thrilled her fans recently with the new strawberry blonde hairstyle she donned in Milan, where she stepped out for a touristy trip to the Duomo. With her prim appearance at Fendi in a striped dress from the Fall collection and matching Dotcom bag, it’s clear she has stepped into high fashion’s big leagues, and her presence is more than welcome. With even more hair colors, skate merch, and designer goods to try on and test out, it’s only a matter of time before Park is setting trends on the runway."

It's obviously referring to her making a mark in international runway fashion shows, not her career = a new kpop star in the scene of fashion who's gaining recognition  :imstupid:

Once again, she's been plopped at fashion shows for years and years now...just because Vogue is only now starting to notice doesn't mean she's new

Yeah she isn't exactly "new" in your dictionary but since it looks like a lot are starting to notice her and her style on the shows she has recently attended so this author is labeling her as the "new kpop star on the scene".

And it's not like she has regularly attended shows during fashion week. She's a regular during Seoul fashion week yes, but she's only been to about 1-2 shows (maybe 3) during MFW and NYFW from what I remember.

Vogue has been writing more article related to kpop lately (Taeyeon, Jessica and now Dara).

I wonder in what thing they are up to...

Well since korean fashion is the trend nowadays, who wouldn't write about famous artists in the korean industry tbh. The fashion industry is all about trends. You gotta milk it, market it, advertise it before the next big thing happens.

CAN'T PEOPLE BE FUCKING OPTIMIST FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THEIR LIFE?! NO WONDER WHY NONE OF YOU HAVE A SINGLE REAL FRIEND IRL

God they cant even be happy with the news that a famous international magazine wrote an article about and/or featured a korean artist. They dont do this everyday you guys. Vogue isn't soompi.

It's not that we're not happy/enthused for Dara so get your head out of your ass. The fact that they said she was "new" bothered me because Dara's been going to Fashion shows for a while and only recently got attention for it. So bloop. I'm trying not to be disrespectful to some of y'all but....lol

"Get your head out of your ass"? lol as if my previous statement was excessively conceited. And did you even pay attention to what I've mentioned before? She's not a regular in the international fashion week scene, including MFW. She's only been to about a total of 3 shows (maybe 4) including the recent Fendi and Jeremy Scott so it's not THAT surprising that she's only been getting attention now. So bloop. That's how the fashion industry works.

Pfft. Like why do you even have to be triggered so much by the title? lmao get over it. Write a fashion article yourself criticizing this whole "new kpop star in the scene" article about dara's style if you're so bothered about it lol

You guys are a bunch of fugly, fat, hateful, vinegar-filled roaches.

Continue to smash Cheetos in your acne-filled faces sitting behind your computer screens while gorgeous, flawless Dara is sitting front-row in Milan and Paris in flowing D&G, Versace and Alexander McQueen.

Get that article Queen :chu:

But YG never mediaplayed/mediaplays for Dara. After several projects these past few months, Dara promotes by herself witg no mediaplay.

^

this is a bit true, but I would not say never tho.

and lmao at the first few comments coming from non fans, y'all are fast.
