Trump Advocates ‘Profiling’ as a Method to Fight Terrorism

Donald Trump said Monday that authorities might have to engage in racial profiling to more effectively fight the threat of terrorist attacks in the United States.

"Our local police, they know who a lot of these people are. They are afraid to do anything about it because they don't want to be accused of, uh, profiling. And they don't want to be accused of all sorts of things," Trump said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican presidential nominee went on to praise Israel's policing practices. Israeli security forces routinely conduct general roundups for questioning or during specific investigations.

"You know in Israel, they profile," Trump said. "They've done an unbelievable job — as good as you can do. But Israel has done an unbelievable job. And they'll profile. They profile. They see somebody that's suspicious. They will profile. They will take that person in. They will check out."

Trump concluded: "Do we have a choice? Look what's going on. Do we really have a choice? We're tying to be so politically correct in our country."

If profiling is done right, it can be helpful.
Remember profiling is:

the recording and analysis of a person's psychological and behavioral characteristics, so as to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain sphere or to assist in identifying a particular subgroup of people.

The problem is that not all law enforcement do it right. They see someone with a hijab and immediately jump to conclusions. It's suspicious behavior they need to be trained to focus on.

Edit:
But Trump is a fuck up and from rereading the article I can see he meant "Racial profiling."
This fucking nut  :twitch:

Profiling is just being intelligent about things.

If there is someone you suspect of a crime, and statistics show it is a certain kind of person, it's not a bad idea to follow that.

It's why after murders they always go straight to the husband/wife/gf/bf or whatever. Because they know statistically the most likely murder suspect is someone in a relationship with them or Ex.

If there is a terrorist attack and you have 10 people on camera, and 1 is wearing a arab dress, it's probably good idea to start with them instead of the 8 year old kid or 90 year old woman.
