Shocking Exchange Between Future College Roommates Goes Viral: 'Don't Try Me'

Most college freshmen send an introductory get-to-know-you email to their new roomies before the semester starts. But one new college student at the University of California, Los Angeles, referred to as Ashly, took another approach.

Ashly outlined in a stern note to her two new roommates exactly which desk, bunk, and closet she wanted in their room before even meeting them, adding “Sorry not that sorry for the attitude,†according to The Daily Mail.

One of Ashly’s new roomies, Winnie Chen (pictured above), 17, says Ashly sent the message because she and the third roommate, Guistinna Tun, 18, didn’t respond to Ashly’s first email within a few days.

Ashly’s fun-filled memo started off on a cheery note saying, “I'm not gonna settle for anything less than what I'm gonna tell you that I'm gonna get once I arrive in the dorm.†The letter goes on with very specific requests and very few pleases and thank yous.

Her soon-to-be roommate Guistinna replied, explaining that she and Winnie were “chill and more than willing to compromise,†but that they didn’t appreciate Ashly’s attitude or the sense of entitlement that was displayed in the email.

“GIIRRRL, WE HAVEN’T EVEN MET YET. But, at this rate, I don’t even want to meet you anymore.†Guistinna said in her reply, offering that Ashly could find new roommates if she wanted to.

Consider shade and the gauntlet thrown.

Ashly replied to the message, and admitted that she had “stepped out of line.†She said she appreciated the girls sticking up for themselves. Ashly said she still wanted to room with Winnie and Guistinna, but added that she was a “ticking time bomb†and that they could request a new roommate if that scared them.

Meanwhile, all of these messages were shared on Twitter and have been seen by thousands as a giant PSA showing that demands do not make friends.

Play nice, girls.

They should have asked for another roommate.

I can not believed that girl talked to them like that...bizarre and threatening.

Unpopular Opinion:  I do not think they should have posted it on twitter or with the news though.

They must be really glad to get an early warning about that girl. Then they can go to the management asap and choose different roomate.

I was anal about my dorm too back then. But i just came earlier than the rest and choose whatever i want. First come first serve bitch

She just got angry, that they didn't reply to her. If you notice, she did sent them a couple of emails. I wouldn't be so quick to blame everything on one party. However, these things you can discuss when you meet up, its pointless trying to talk well beforehand. If you're not used to compromising then you're better off trying to find your own place, like a studio or something.

it was pointed out in another article that one of the girls responded back to ashly's rude email and explained the reason she couldn't answer the first email was because she was in the process of moving and didn't even have time to check her email. and then there are people like my mom who don't even check their email everyday.

Wow she was rude. But so were they, when they didn't reply to the first email. Since it's not quoted anywhere I suppose it was normal?

well maybe they were too busy and had no time to check their email? And some people don't even look at their email on a daily basis. Personally I think it'd be easier if they had communicated over FB or something because there you can actually see in real time if someone has read your messages or not, whereas with email there's literally no knowing if someone actually hasn't read it yet or if they have read it and are ignoring.

Ahh ok, I didn't know that.

Well, you're right. I check my email everyday now, but when I was in school I didn't...
