per·fec·tion·ist
pərˈfekSH(ə)nəst/
noun
plural noun: perfectionists
a person who refuses to accept any standard short of perfection.

Perfectionism, in psychology, is a personality trait characterized by a person's striving for flawlessness and setting excessively high performance standards, accompanied by overly critical self-evaluations and concerns regarding others' evaluations. (wiki)

In short, perfectionists are people who abide by the standard of perfection. Sometimes, they may require that standard from the people or things that they see.

But when they fail at being so, can they use the phrase "I'm only human?" to defend themselves?

I've been called that before and I think it's still okay for me say that I'm only human.

In fact the reason why I try to be thorough in my work is because I know I'm human and prone to mistakes so after I'm done, I double check my work and correct any mistakes and after that I triple check my work and correct any other mistakes again. I try to aim for the best and expect the worst at the same time.

Aiming for the best requires me to be a perfectionist. Meanwhile, in order for me to expect the worst, I try to tell myself that I'm only human so the worst can still happen and I have to prepare for it.
