What should CL or CL reps say when posed the question about the racial politics of rap in america? [INTERVIEW]

I love CL. But I am super curious to how they should approach this...

So far her reps has been dodging the question but shes bound to have to say something right?

"An American hip-hop classic given a rebirth by an international artist: might this formula ruffle feathers? CL's rep asked her to pass on a question I posed about how she'll navigate the racial politics of American rap. In any case, "Lifted" has cred: the video was directed by Dave Meyers, who also did Method Man's "Da Rockwilder." And it features a cameo by Method Man himself, who dances with CL outside of a Williamsburg body shop."

It's a bad look on her for her reps to pass these questions. She needs to address her appropriation of black culture in both music and MVs/fashion so she doesn't repeat the same mistakes. I get her reps don't want to open that can of worms but she should and needs to address is if she wants any type of career states wise.

I think keeping quite would be worse.

after iggy, non black rappers are gonna be faced with this especially those that try to rep for things they're not about, and cl falls under that category, if she starts to gain some traction she is definitely going to be called out a lot.

I think it always happened to non black hip hop artist, even way before Iggy. Eminem back in the day got racial & political related questions too, that's why he has reference it on his songs a few times. I think he even has a entire song base on his privileged & whatnot.

I know it happened before iggy but being called out for being inauthentic and appropriating black culture and not responding the criticisms of doing so in the right ways is a huge part of what ruined her career, that's why I say "after iggy" because now these kinds of things can cripple and ruin non black rappers careers.

Iggy was responding to criticism but not in the smart way. She was dumb & overly sensitive about everything. Lots of artist has cuturally appropriate & aren't that talented like Selena Gomez & Miley Cyrus & they ignored the criticism and still have a strong career. Iggy didn't, Her attitue made the criticism so much more worse. She killed her own career for being stupid, being in so many beef with ppl & just being a overlly sensitive bigot.

HONESTLY why did she have so much BS in her MV

smoking weed and twerking and shiet

like what is this? Is this another worldstar MV?

Everyone is going to laugh at her if she ever gets any traction in the US

TBH, there's really no wrong or right answer to the question. Some people will hate regardless, it doesnt matter what she says people will find a reason.

Tho I think something along the lines of "music is a universe language & music has no skin preference" is the safest but pretty peaceful answer honestly. & truthfully music shouldnt be divided by skin colour. There's always those artists who will hate & there will always be those who embrace.

Yeah, no, that'd be a terrible answer

What is this scandal for?

To my knowledge, music is music, and everyone and anyone can do any kind of music genre they want. It's music, art, not politics.

But if this is over MV or anything she's wore or said, then i admit i'm clueless, since i don't understand cultural apropiation in the first place... so take my comment only if this is about music

Best shot is to answer it, but with an intellectual answer

She's going to get hate regardless cause she has done somethings before that many would side eye, but if she gives a good answer many will pass it.

I guess we'll see what happens, cause even if she doesn't answer someone will call her out for sure and then it'll be even worse
