Is it safe/okay to do this?

So I found "calorie pills" at a Japanese supermarket. Each pill contains like 500 calories (+/-). Do you think it's safe for me to live off these pills or at least partially? Like maybe 3 pills a day and I don't eat anything else except like snacks or like 1 pill a day idk. What I mean is can I substitute it for my meals? Is it safe? I don't understand Japanese and can't find any info when I search it up on the Internet. (I searched Japan calorie pills bc idk what it's called but diet pills came up instead.)

Edit: I used to use the idea of collecting different tastes (trying out different food) to motivate myself to eat, but recently that's no longer as helpful.

no you need nutrients from food like sodium, fiber, vitamins, healthy fat (yes this is an actual thing), calcium, iron, etc your body needs more then just calories >.<

edit: plus depending on your age and height your calorie intake per day is different per person, mine is 1700 to maintain and 1400 to lose weight I believe and I am 5'7 and 150 pounds so figure that info out with your height, age and current weight and figure out a healthy balanced meal set

a. why would you want to?

b. food has nutrients and vitamins that those pills probably don't have. 500 calories of vegetables is very different to 500 calories of fries for example

I don't feel like eating. Apparently these pills have but yeah I understand that it's prolly insufficient. Thank you!!

No, you need nutrients. You should look into meal replacement drinks like Soylent. They're enriched with the necessary nutrition.

that doesn't seem healthy, think that soylent drink is strange enough but that could be seen as sustainable, pills on the other hand, I doubt it.

Thank you. I'll look into that! :)

I don't know what's the specific purpose of that type of pills but I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea to try to subsist by only consuming those pills. First of all human beings need to consume other stuff aside from calories, like nutrients, vitamins, proteins, etc. so this is a pretty bad idea that it could cause some permanent health issues if you do it over a long period of time.

Like I said I don't know what are this pills designed for, or what you're trying to achieve, but you shouldn't use this as a substitute of your regular meals because you're gonna lack other nutrients and you would become sick or even anemic.

P.S. If you want to gain weight you could be taking this as a supplement (that means you need to eat like you normally do and also takes this pills) but you should check with a doctor or nutritionist before taking any type of supplement.

I think the purpose is for hermits who are too lazy to take their meals on time, considering the stereotypes about some Japanese males. I initially wanted to use this to substitute my meals so I won't have to go out and get food as often. Thank you for taking the time to reply. OT, but I've always admired your replies. You always provide good insight.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Now I remember you for your other threads and eating issues. You know I've also had some difficulties to get to eat properly, I'm more or less a slim person and a rather lazy one so sometimes I would prefer to sleep rather to eat or won't do it just because of the effort it implies getting and preparing the food. However I also remember you were planning about doing exercise to bulk up and I think that would be a healthier alternative to taking pills because if you perform the right amount of exercise then you would stimulate your appetite to the point you won't be able to ignore it, but you'll need to do something like running, bike or swimming. Also you might feel need to work around your eating habits to be more stimulated to eat and instead of using the pills you should try to eat something that contains many carbohydrates and maybe something with fat could also help you to eat less while covering your minimum calories intake.
