Either way, it wouldn't work out. As much as I love KSH, the age gap would be a big problem and it would be super awkward to watch her being all lovey dovey with LJK and KHN as well tbh + Seo Hyun Jin was working on Another Miss Oh when they were filming ML. If she was cast, there will be a conflict of schedule and she would have to give up one of the two dramas.

Neither of them have the right look to play both Hajin and Haesoo. Hajin is a woman in her 20s and Haesoo is a 16 year old girl, and you need to be able to look like a teenage-passing woman, which IU can pull off very well since she has a youthful look to her.

17 year old Kim So Hyun with 34 year old Lee Joon Ki and 26 year old Kang Haneul? Um, no thanks. Also Seo Hyun Jin is too old to pass as a 16 year old teenager. 

 

IU fits the role well. The other one i agree from Netizen's list is Park Eunbin.

 

but Park Eunbin can't pass for a 16-year-old teenager (which Haesoo is) like IU can even though they're 1 year apart in age. I looked through her pictures and she has a rather mature look to her (I was surprised to see that she was born in 1992 because she looked like an 89 or 90-liner to me, i.e. around the same age as me).

IU fits the character more. But i think Park Eun Bin can be a good Haesoo too. She was really good in Age of Youth and her character is a bit similar with Haesoo.

Hwang Jung Eum would've been too old for the role, and Kang Sora would've have been a right fit, so i can see why they went with IU... But I still wish there were other options.

I wouldn't have watched Moon Lovers if Hwang Jung Eum had been casted--not only is she old for the part (while Ha Jin is in her 20s, Hae Soo is only 16), but I find her acting rather annoying and at times, even over the top (esp. in scenes where she's yelling). IU was a good fit because not only is she in her 20s (like Ha Jin), but she could also pass as a 16 year old girl, too, thanks to her baby face.

That role went to Jung Somin (born 1990), and then Han Yeri (born 1984), and Jang Geunsuk rejected both.

 

So Klus (born 1993) took that role. At that time (2013), Jang Geunsuk was 26, so Klus played the character who would be at least 27 yrs old at the age of 20.

But why the fuck are you giving me such a long ass explanation? Did I ask for it? No. I gave my opinion not based on what projects they're doing but a personal preference. Also I know the difference between "oo" and "o" it was an honest typo no need to be such a smart mouth abt it. I've watched majority of sohyuns dramas so I know who she is.
