why does korea have so many groups?

I don't really think Korea has more groups than soloist. Idol groups are much more known internationally than soloist, for that reason many foreign fans tend to think that there are more groups than soloist.

its was the trend, korea had alot of sucessful soloist and less groups before 2006.

and kpop groups have hit it big money wise in korea and rest of asia.

i think in 2011 and 2013 there was a huge scramble to release kpop groups by new small companies trying to cash in on the hallyu wave,

but now we are seeing idols relasing more solos, which makes me think we are going to see a trend in ex idol group soloist when the 2nd gen groups disbands

Philippines has tons of Soloist and Bands. But doesn't have successful boy/girl groups (like kpop) cuz its too cringy singing/dancing it while using our language. They all flop

Yes especially those groups that can't really sing, though OPM songs are very good, I'm actually worried for MNL48 there will be many jejemon fans >_<
