Both Qu Ying and Yixing were participants in a cooking competition variety show a couple of years ago, that's probably when they first met. Qu Ying was kind of like an elder sister to Yixing during the show - she's a fantastic cook while Yixing was more of a casual cook and not familiar with the more expert cooking techniques. Both of them were from the same hometown in China, thus they understand the same Chinese dialect language and have similar taste in homecooked food. During one of the episode segments, they were paired together to prepare a hot pot meal, and Qu Ying was really nice. Subsequently, during other challenges, even though everyone is competing, she'll still give advice to Yixing in some of the more difficult tasks.
