CHRIS 156
Xbox Release 2001 The Xbox is a video game console manufactured by Microsoft. It was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, February 22, 2002 in Japan, and March 14, 2002 in Australia and Europe. It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market. As part of the sixth-generation of gaming, the Xbox competed with Sony's PlayStation 2, Sega's Dreamcast (which stopped American sales before the Xbox went on sale), and Nintendo's GameCube. The Xbox was the first console offered by an American company after the Atari Jaguar stopped sales in 1996. Xbox360 Release The Xbox 360 is the second video game console developed by and produced for Microsoft and the successor to the Xbox. The Xbox 360 competes with Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. As of September 30, 2012, 70 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide.[8] The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The console sold out completely upon release in all regions except in Japan.[9][10][11] Several major features of the Xbox 360 are its integrated Xbox Live service that allows players to compete online; download arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows, music and movies; and its Windows Media Center multimedia capabilities. The Xbox Live also offers access to various (often region-specific) third-party media streaming applications. At their E3 presentation on June 14, 2010, Microsoft announced a redesigned Xbox 360 that would ship on the same day.[12] The redesigned console is slimmer than the previous Xbox 360 model and features integrated 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, TOSLINK S/PDIF optical audio output, five USB 2.0 ports (compared to the three from older versions) and a special AUX port.[13] Older models of the Xbox 360 have since been discontinued.[14] The first new console to be released features a 250 GB hard drive, while a later, less expensive SKU features 4 GB internal storage. Xbox One The Xbox One is the upcoming third video game console developed by and produced for Microsoft and the successor to the Xbox 360. The Xbox One will compete with Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Wii U as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles. The Xbox One has 8GB of RAM, along with a Blu-ray drive, as well as a native 64-bit architecture, a 500GB onboard hard drive, HDMI in and out (including passthrough capabilities for use with your existing home theatre setup), 802.11n Wi-Fi as well as an 8-core CPU and USB 3.0 connectivity. The next-generation Xbox will run three operating systems simultaneously. Complementing Windows 8 and RT on PCs and tablets, there will be a third distinct version of Microsoft's operating system that has been pared down specifically for the new console. Xbox Live The integrated Xbox Live service launched in November 2002 allowed players to play games online with a broadband connection.[6][7] It first competed with Dreamcast's online service but later primarily competed with PlayStation 2's online service. Although these two are free while Xbox Live required a subscription, as well as broadband-only connection which was not completely adopted yet, Xbox Live was a success due to better servers, features such as a buddy list, and milestone titles like Halo 2 released in November 2004, which is the best-selling Xbox video game and was by far the most popular online game for years. And that they've abandoned gamers in the last few years by not even trying to release interesting exclusives. i don't think it has anything to do with Microsoft being western. I know what you mean, as it sits now we are gonna wait till the E3 announcement to see if they are really going to charge us for taking the game from one Xbox One to another. Believe it or not that was a driving force why it did not succeed in Japan. They went there first and tested out the 360 without the logo on it, and people liked it, but as soon as they said "It's the new Microsoft System" they stopped smiling and gave it back like they were committing family dishonor or something. But even without the patriotic pride stuff, objectively for western and japanese gamers the ps3 is easily the better console. Just compare the number of exclusives and you'll see how much(little) Microsoft cares about games compared to Sony. And how much Microsoft is focusing their attention on Kinect and Media apps instead of games. The 360 might have had the edge in the first few years because they were getting the jrpgs and good xbla games, but the ps3 have passed and lapped them ever since. Ron Swanson 6,677
I like how they kept the design for the Xbox controllers consistent. I would prefer the Xbox one controller over ps4's because I don't like the touch pad on top lol.

Yeah I noticed the pride in them with the launch of the PS2, they even said in street interviews how they have to support their Japanese companies. And I like that pride, but as a gamer you should go where you have fun, not just to support a cause. And I would never ever say the PS3 was the better counsel just because it had a few good games, it's ridiculous launch price, and not that many good games for it had people fighting for the Wii, not the PS3. PS3 has the same issue the PS2 had only 3-10 games are actually worth having. They have lots of games that appeal to lots of people, but they are not worth having, every time I go to the store I see the PS-Wall of games and out of 350-400+ games being displayed, only about 50-100 are must haves, that you know you would play over and over. And the RPG argument used to be important but Sony has always had the Market on RPG from PS1 to PS3, there are companies that will only develop for Sony since they like them. And RPG's are still 3rd best selling in the West. In Asia they are a huge market, but Action, Adventure, Shooters and Racers are the big selling games in West....unless it is Kingdom Hearts or FF. And Sony has tried repeatedly to be "The Only Box In Your House" that's why they came out with the PSX, and the PS3 was supposed to have TiVo features built in exactly how the Xbox One is going to have it. And they were the first to turn the PS3 into a media center to one up Microsoft with XBLive, by offering more stuff that took you further and further away from game play...yet now they are claiming to be the gaming system lol In the end they both are gonna offer the near same exact stuff, just a matter of what one appeals to the buyer more. I like how they kept the design for the Xbox controllers consistent. I would prefer the Xbox one controller over ps4's because I don't like the touch pad on top lol. Yes, I have always hatted the PS Controller every since I was a teenager. It was like they decided to model it after a small skinny people sitting at attention or something. Comfort is a big thing when gaming for hours or all night with friends.

Comfort is a big thing when gaming for hours or all night with friends. the rpg part was more for my reasoning because it's my favorite genre. As for the part for the number of games worth playing, if sony has more exclusives than xbox then that means sony has more games that are worth playing because all the other games would be on both systems. It depends on personal taste if those exclusives interests you or not though, but there's more to choose from on the ps3 is my point. For the media part, i don't pay too much attention to that stuff. If you say ps3 was trying to put in tivo i'll believe you but i don't care about it. It doesn't seem to be the focus like Microsoft with them shoving down everybody's throats at the reveal. (i didn't watch it, i'm just going by people's responses for this part ) And at this point every device gaming or not needs netflix/hulu/youtube because that's what everybody expects now. Anyways I wasn't trying to start a console war debate here, i was just trying to explain why this thread wasn't getting as much activity and that it's not because Microsoft is a western company (for the people on here at least). __ i don't have a problem with either controller really, but i never liked the 360's dpad. They say they've made it better but i can't tell from the pics. Outside of that both are fine with me.

Sorry I did not respond right away, I was trying to play Saint Row 2 Co Op with a buddy, but his internet was cutting in and out. I understand about the RPG's my friends love them, but they tell me all the time that not everyone is worth getting or, some are too short. And like I said and pointed out, Sony has always had more games and more to chose from, but just because it has "more exclusives" does not mean they are all good and worth getting. There were and are allot of exclusives games for the PS that just sit on the shelves and don't sell well, but there are people that play and love them but don't understand why others don't see it the same way. That's what I was getting at. And the media stuff like I said Sony started that first with the PS2 having DVD playback over the Dreamcast, and even though people argued that it should be a gaming device first, Sony changed the rules. Then the PS3 comes out with Blu Ray and was trying to beat Microsoft with "extra stuff" and they both went back and fourth with adding more and more stuff for "entertainment" value. But I agree both systems should be about gaming only, but that is in the past now since everything has to be able to stream something from some where now. I was not arguing, just having a conversation with you. I already figured out that online on forums, 6 in 10 people play Playstation, 3 play Nintendo and the 1 play Xbox
CHRIS 156
Need For Speed Rivals announced for Xbox One and Playstation 4 By Seyth Miersma RSS feed Google+ Fresh from critical praise for the last installment in the series, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Electronic Arts has formally announced that Need For Speed Rivals will be the next title in the series. Set to hit stores on November 19, the game will also be the first Need For Speed to be available on next-generation consoles Xbox One and Playstation 4, as well as the current Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The "rivals" in question for this NFS title are, of course, cops and street racers – nothing new there – but the gameplay is apparently getting a makeover. Players may choose to be racers, and live the life of evading cops, gaining infamy, videoing their slipperiest moves and earning Speed Points. They might also choose to play on the side of law enforcement; attaining higher ranks and faster police cars with more and increasingly challenging busts. One big innovation in Rivals will be the use of a new play system called AllDrive. The concept is that a player can seamlessly move from playing in single player mode, to playing online with friends, without having to wait in a lobby or move through a menu interface. The game will merge one's play from single to multiplayer as your friends across the web go on and offline, and you can choose to interact with them or not, as you like. One more item of note: Ferrari will be making its return to the NFS world in Rivals. The following press release mentions that the game has booked Ferrari for this new title, specifically calling out the F12 Berlinetta as being invited to the party. Continue on below for the official press release, as well as a short video teaser of the new game.
abraa 1,118
Two things that bother me about the Xbone: 1. you need an internet connection to play it, which sucks for people with connection issues like me 2. it doesn't work without the camera, and I sure don't want a constantly connected camera + microphone in my living room
