The problem with MBC's gayo is always going to be that a lot of the artists are suffering on burnt-out by the time it happens. Many already performed in two gayos, and regular music shows within the past 10 days. Some of the main vocals end up doing special stages for multiple gayos and some even perform on the regular award shows. There's only so much time to get together to practice special stages. KBS and SBS have the best opportunity because KBS Gayo is always first and then there's a few days break between it and SBS. Hyorin was at SBS to sing her theme from Master's Sun, then performed with Bora as Sistar19 and did a special stage at the MBC Gayo plus regular Sistar performances. That's just one day. As for being SM extravaganza, they're some of the most popular artists in kpop so it's natural they'd get top billing.
