Does anyone hate college?

I'm going into my senior year of college and I'm already get anxiety about going back this Saturday. I had a hard time at college with depression and an eating disorder. My school is just in the middle woods cut off from civilization and is all about partying and drinking. I can't drink because of medication and I get a lot of anxiety from trying to party. I was sexually assaulted my freshman year so its really hard me to stay out late at night especially around intoxicated men. It's upsetting how much I hate college because everyone always says its the best four years of your life but it doesn't feel that way for me. Honestly I probably should have transferred to a less stressful college but the thing is my college is top 10 in the nation so it would feel like the because disappointment going to a lower ranking college after going through 3 years of hard work.

I wonder if anyone else on this website also hates college.

deeply so

first of all, i'm sorry your experience has been so awful. you're almost done though!

i'm also a senior and i developed anxiety in college. i had a depression episode last year because of that, and i almost gave up entirely. now i take meds and i try to see my family as often as possible to keep calm, but it's not easy.

I see my parents as often as possible too. My only problem is my parents aren't supportive of medication which sucks. All they talk is "oh you see better you should start cutting back off medication" then they make all these comments about how the medication is going to have long term health problems even though they don't have any proof to back up these claims.

It's frustrating to say the least.

you said your college is all about partying and drinking, but why did you force yourself to go to parties (assuming you went to parties by the "I get a lot of anxiety from trying to party" part of your OP) if you knew you wouldn't like them? It doesn't matter if a college is known for partying or whatever, you don't have to put yourself in situations you know you wouldn't feel comfortable in. While my university wasn't exactly a partying type of college, people do still throw parties, but I never went to any of them and mainly stayed at home and surfed the net/watched Kdramas in my apartment

College in general for me was pretty meh. I didn't love it but I didn't really hate it either. The only thing I hate was the quarter system so we'd have a midterm 3-4 weeks after the quarter starts (and for some people, midterms starts 2 weeks after the 1st week of school) and then a final 2-3 weeks later. It was very stressful constantly trying to cram 10 week's worth of information every quarter during finals. What I liked about being at college though was being away from my mother since I don't have a good relationship with her and I'm happy to be anywhere away from her.

My school is very competitive and academically stressful so most of the times people don't have time to see each other unless its late at night. Everyone is so busy with studying with 24/7 that people only have free time at night. When people do have free time they just want to blow it off and go out. So if I want to see my friends and be around them I'm basically forced to go out. It's hard because I hate the setting and for awhile I just straight up refused going out but when I did that I never saw any of friends or sorority sisters. I have a trimester system (10 weeks) so we also have a midterm after the second week of school.

my father says the same thing, but i'm lucky in that my mother is very supportive.

there's a lot of stigma against mental illness, and it's even worse when it comes from the people who you should be able to depend on. i'm sorry this is the case for you. are there any friends you feel you can talk to about things?

I have mixed feelings about it but no I don't hate it at least for the time being I don't , I already got my bachelor's degree last year, I'm still a fresh graduate and I'm planning to pursue my studies so this year I'm starting off my Master's degree nonetheless I have a very long way to go until I obtain my Phd , I'm pretty sure by then it will suck the life out of me :(

Edit : have I mentioned that it's actually a new college I'm admitted to this year and that I know practically no one it's like freshman year all over again.... ok now I'm nervous ^ ^'

First year was shit- harassed a lot-

Transferred universities & switched majors- my mental health seriously went under (already shit to begin with), developed a stomach disorder and got on a lot of meds for well, the disorder as well as my severe depression and anxiety. I used to go to the doctors every two weeks. Now its every month or so? Maybe twice a month.

Tbh University to me is just a lot of stress thats adding to my poor physical and mental health . The receptionists at the doctor's place knows my name now...and now I probably have to make the transition to an "actual therapist" (quoted by some other doctor I duno how many I've seen). I've been seeing the therapist at my University since its free and stuff.....

anyways my university life has been hell

do I hate it?? more like I hate life

I hate how I haven't improved in writing essays either.....theyre such harsh markers.....its so stressful in general.

I do but people get sick of hearing about my problems after awhile. The more I try to talk about the less people want to be around me. Like I said my school is very competitive and I feel like people don't want to add anything more to their worries like having to babysit a friend.

that's an awful mentality people tend to have

this might not mean much coming from a stranger on the internet, but you can message me if you ever want to vent. i honestly don't mind at all.
