Why hasn't there been a K-drama about the idol group life yet? How would it do?

I was just thinking about it, why hasn't there been one?

It could be a comedic, faux-insight into idol life where they focus on either one person or the whole group and all the juicy drama that supposedly happens behind the scenes in K-Pop.

Idol life has been touched on in other dramas but none has focused on idols specifically. How do you think a drama about idols would do? I think a Producers-style format could slay, but it could also bomb because the Korean GP seems to dislike idols.

If it happened, how would you like to see it done? Would you prefer a boy group or a girl group?

KPOP Extreme Survival ?

preparing to debut as a boy group .. the drama showcases - crossdressing/ songs/audition process/love/CEO going out with trainee girl(?)/living in a dorm etc...

it features Winner's Song Minho - Go Eun Ah (MBLAQ's Mir sister) and Park Yu-hwan (JYJ Park Yoochun's brother) and MORE.. lol

Isn't Dream High about idol though? Especially DH2 since it was after the groups debuted. For Dream High season 1, we can see how crazy the fangirls are, also how a scandal affect the life of those idols

also, can I mentioned Persevere Goo Hae Ra? About dating scandal, crazy fangirl, how bad the management company, how the station television being biased to big agency

My Lovely Girl... If I'm not wrong

it wasn't about idol imo. The main characters are Krystal and Rain, both aren't idol. The one that idol is Myungsoo. But he's not lead character (just 2nd lead)

Oh not drama, but documentary film of Infinite (Grow). It was all about their life when their 1st world tour. How though their life, how the scandal affect them, how tired they are, etc. I know it's real story but I believe several parts are scripted.

God of Music 2 isn't exactly a drama but it's got a lot of the elements you're talking about.

Oh yeah God of Music sorta fits the bill.

on netflix, they have nine muses debut process if thats what youre thinking :- ))

to be honest, though, i dont think that documentary is much to go off of since the company probably got the last say on what would be allowed and what had to be cut.

in my opinion, i'd love to see a boy band & girl group documentary. you know, side by side. see how different and similar both genders are when it comes to training and debuting.

- like, maybe we expect girls to starve themselves and boys to just work out a lot but they probably starve themselves the same as girl groups or maybe even more ! that was just an example, i dont really expect any of that but you know how there are always double standards in the industry? i want to see what we have wrong ! how they eat, how they sing, how they dance- what will surprise us! i'd love a documentary like that. :- ))

I always wonder why they don't do that, it can be so epic.

Imagine an individual dreaming to be a star, gets through a hardcore adition, becomes a trainee, gossips and hidden secrets about the company fly around, rivalities start when they chose members for a new group, even if bitches try to stop him/her they miraculously get into the band, the emotions of the debut, struggling to get popular, conflicts with own group members/ other group memebers, eventually hits it very big, is happy momentarily, then sasaengs appear, enters attitude controversy and all over the media, falls in love with a celebrity (with either someone that they crushed on when trainees together, either someone they used to look up to when a trainee...or have a love triangles with both), but the one they love has a sponsor so they hide their epic love as much as possible, press finds out about them, dating scandal, sponsor gets angry, popularity drops for both of them, a lot of tears and drama.

Idk how I'd end it. They break-up and succeed in getting popular again even if they are lonely and idol life continues to be shitty as always. The moral :"Yo kids better stay in school". Either they both give up on idol life and start a happy life somewhere else.

Hmmm...why isn't this a thing? It sounds pretty awesome in my head.

This is exactly how I feel! There's sooo many things that can be covered to make an interesting show, everything a network needs is there.

Hopefully it happens soon before the idol hype dies down..
