Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder marked by an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development.

  • Inattention means a person wanders off task, lacks persistence, has difficulty sustaining focus, and is disorganized; and these problems are not due to defiance or lack of comprehension.
  • Hyperactivity means a person seems to move about constantly, including situations in which it is not appropriate when it is not appropriate, excessively fidgets, taps, or talks. In adults, it may be extreme restlessness or wearing others out with their activity.
  • Impulsivity means a person makes hasty actions that occur in the moment without first thinking about them and that may have high potential for harm; or a desire for immediate rewards or inability to delay gratification. An impulsive person may be socially intrusive and excessively interrupt others or make important decisions without considering the long-term consequences.

Well idk two of my friends have it and it impacts their grades a lot because it's really hard to focus on notes and hw for them. But people can still learn to work past it

I have it.

And most people call it as disorder. Idk if you can put it as an illness though

Thank you guys for your responses. :)

It is a disorder. I work with children and adults with ADHD, it has a significant impact in their daily lives as well as school participation.

I know a lot of people don't view it as a problem since it's often misdiagnosed by doctors who just want to earn more money by prescribing drugs but the fact is, it does exist.

I abhor discrimination against people with ADHD or Autism (unrelated but it's viewed with the same social stigma). I find people who prefers to judge rather than accept quite narrow-minded. I won't hang out with them.
