Amber will be transforming into a large management company’s CEO Kim Eungab (Jo Jinwoong)’s secretary Jay Jung. Jay Jung is a second generation Korean American with an open-minded thinking. She confidently asks questions like, “I entered the company because I wanted to work as a manager, but how long do I have to stay in the office?†and displays a comical love-hate relationship with her superior Kim Eungab (Jo Jinoong) by saying everything that’s on her mind. It’s Amber’s first acting challenge in the 7 years since her debut, and is expected to show a different side of herself as an actress through the role of Jay Jung.

The producers revealed, “In the male-dominated ‘Entourage’, Choi Myeonggil, Jang Soyeon, Yoon Jihye, Ahn Sohee, and Amber help to maintain the balance with their strong presence in the drama, through their individual roles, playing female characters with clear personalities.

tvN’s ‘Entourage’ will have its first broadcast on 4th November (Friday) at 11pm, and subsequently air every Friday and Saturday at 11pm

Lee Kwang Soo has intimate scenes in Korean version of Entourage

Korean actor-comedian Lee Kwang Soo's latest TV series is remake of Hollywood comedy-drama

Oct 21, 2016 6:00am

Remaking a popular TV show comes with the inevitable pressure of being endlessly compared to one's successful predecessor.

Just ask South Korean actor-comedian Lee Kwang Soo, who is one of the leading cast members of Entourage, a Korean remake of the HBO TV series of the same name.

Produced by Korean cable TV channel tvN, it will premiere in South Korea on Nov 4.

The 31-year-old entertainer, best known for his hilarious antics on variety game show Running Man, told Singapore media yesterday that he is a big fan of the original series, which ran for eight seasons between 2004 and 2011 and even spawned a movie spin-off last year.

Entourage chronicles the misadventures of fictional New York boy-turned-A-list-star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his best buddies in Hollywood.

Fans, remember Johnny "Drama" Chase (Kevin Dillon), Vincent's half-brother and personal chef cum bodyguard? That's the character Lee will play.

"I really enjoyed the original Entourage very much, I've watched every single episode," said Leethrough a translator.

"Of course, we felt pressure when we were filming.

"But thankfully, our director always reminded us to express our emotions freely and to come up with our own Korean concept (of the comedy-drama)."

NP_20161021_TKSOO21-U9P_1418021.jpg?itok

Lee, known affectionately as "Giraffe" to legions of Running Man viewers because of his gangly 1.9m-tall frame, was in town as the brand ambassador of travel retailer The Shilla Duty Free Singapore, to celebrate the first anniversary of beauty store Shilla Beauty Loft at Changi Airport.

Following his closed-door press conference, he did a free, open-to-public meet-and-greet session with more than 400 fans at Terminal 3.

Lee said: "I can't reveal details about Entourage at this point, but I can tell you that I do have some intimate scenes, as well as scenes with skinship (a Korean term for physical contact).

"Also, Cha Joon, the character I play, is very different from me in real life. He is annoying. He is constantly nasty to others and likes to brag and talk a lot."

Filming the series with his fellow actors was "a lot of fun", added Lee.

CAST

The cast of Entourage includes Seo Kang Jun (taking on Grenier's role), Lee Dong Hwi (Jerry Ferrara's Turtle), and veteran actor Cho Jin Woong (Jeremy Piven's Ari Gold).

Lee's star has risen rapidly in the last couple of years, and he is now recognised as a bona fide actor back home, having played the leading man in romantic TV drama It's Okay, That's Love (2014) and comedy film Collective Invention (2015).

However, he seems to have no airs. When the host referred to him as "Prince of Asia", Lee laughed and looked embarrassed.

"That is a great honour," he said, grinning.

"I think my friendly image on Running Man endeared me to many people. Thank you all so much."

Swoony stills of Seo Kang-joon and new teaser for Entourage

skjent1.jpg

Seo Kang-joon (Cheese in the Trap) is looking all spiffy and handsome in character as Cha Young-bin, Korea’s hottest rising film star, in the newest stills from tvN’s highly anticipated remake of the hit HBO series Entourage. He’s the man of the hour, and joining his joyride through superstardom are his manager Lee Ho-jin (Park Jung-min), power agent Kim Eun-gab (Jo Jin-woong), former idol star Cha Joon (Lee Kwang-soo), and freewheeling jokester Turtle (Lee Dong-hwi), who make up the titular entourage.

The brief teaser showcases the tight-knit buddies living it up at the club, walking the red carpet of the Busan International Film Festival, and romping around in their boxers for reasons unknown as of yet. Lee Kwang-soo also does frantic pelvic thrusts (also for reasons unknown) while his friends look uneasy.

Despite the fun and games, and glitz and glamour, it looks like there’s concern over the movie star’s film bombing at the box office, but Seo Kang-joon doesn’t seem at all worried. In fact, he’s the one reassuring his manager with a confident, “Hey! It’ll all be just fine.†Uh, shouldn’t the manager be the one saying that?

“We’ve already went over the standard of ratings in terms of Korean broadcasts,†Jang Young Woo commented. The PD continued, saying, “The reason we had the opportunity to do this project was because we enjoyed watching the original. There are some provocative aspects in the original, but it’s fun to see a view of Hollywood as well as some self-dissing and black comedy. Seo Kang Jun reveals how similar he is to his character in 'Entourage'

During the press conference for 'Entourage' on October 25, Seo Kang Jun delved into his personality.

Regarding his character, Cha Young Bin, who is the hottest actor of his time, Seo Kang Jun said, "I think there were some similarities between my actual personality and Cha Young Bin's personality. In real life, I'm also extremely indecisive when I have to make my mind up about something. As expected, Youngbin doesn't take charge but has a tendency to work with the people around him when it comes to minor stuff. You could say that he's courteous to others. However, when it comes to ambition for his acting, he insists on being in charge.  We're similar in those aspects."

He also talked about how chemistry and teamwork were very important in this drama, so the actors got a lot closer while engaging in filming. "When we were filming, it was so fun and I really felt comfortable, like we were friends," he said.

The drama starts on November 4!

INTERVIEW translated by Fan

TVN’s new Fri-Sat drama ‘Entourage’ had the production press conference [OSEN, The Fact]. This pre-production drama is remake of US HBO drama (aired between 2004 to 2011). Korean version plans to cover fancy and interesting entertainment world which includes Korean movie industry and K pop idol market. Original is filled with provoking episodes dealing drugs and sex scandal. About that, PD Jang Young-woo and writer Seo Jae-won said “We focused on bromance and reality. The show has been adjusted to the level to fit to Korean sentiment. Still it surpasses the standard of KCSC.†(Korean Communications Standards Commission reviews what is shown on TV with goal to guarantee broadcast content’s fairness and public interests.) Jo Jin-woong said “Jang has to be prepared to write ‘Written explanation’ as the PD of the show.â€

The drama portrays life and experience of newly risen top star Young-bin(Seo Gang-joon) and his friends Ho-jin(Park Jung-min), Joon(Lee Gwang-soo), Gubook (Lee dong-whi) and CEO Eun-gap(Jo Jin-woong) in the entertainment world. These five guys are expected to show best ever bromance.

Jo Jin-woong plays CEO Kim Eun-gap of a big management company with army of stars. Kim has hot temper and curses all the time, but also has loyalty and affection. “Playing this character, I realized why some people did what they did. Just like the storyline in the drama, there was a time I was turned down by a director, and my company CEO said something to me. As I was acting, I realized “Oh that is why CEO placated me that time. He was comforting me.†That was thoroughly melted into the acting. Jo loves his character. “This character was so interesting. The reason I am still excited like this is because I don’t want to let go of Kim Eun-gap yet. Whenever I have a chance, I live as Kim Eun-gap.†About KCSC concern, he said “The standard in our country is not fun. Because even if something[in drama] goes over [the standard], it is still within range of human activity. It is not like a crime.â€

Seo Gang-joon plays an actor Cha Young-bin who is a top entertainer who has shining looks, rebellious eyes, and innocent smile. “He is cool in that he doesn’t compromise if there is a work he wants to do. As a person in the entertainment industry, Young-bin looks cool. We have similarity in personality. I have decision making impediment. Cha also acts considerate of others, rather than insisting what he wants. But if there is acting chance he desires, he becomes stubborn.â€

Lee Gwang-soo plays once-shined star Cha Joon who debuted in late 1990. The character bluffs his popularity is still going on. “He is a character who is sometimes like a mom and sometimes manly.†The show is like actual celebrities describing fancy and secretive side of entertainment world. Lee said (and others agreed) “Each character has own unique color. I think at least one person who has same personality of our characters really exists. Before start filming director-nim and writer-nim did lots of interviews with us, and actual events during that process were also incorporated into the drama. They even added the talks we shared during the meal to the script, I thought it was such realistic script. It was even more interesting acting it.â€

Park Jung-min plays Young-bin’s manager Lee Ho-jin. He is YB’s friend from childhood and a person YB trusts and depends the most. “As I play a manager role, I annoyed my manager because I was having difficulties. I’d like to say “I am sorry†to my manager. I sometimes complained, but I will try not to do it again. I will became an actor who cherishes my manager.†About the friendly set atmosphere everybody praised, Park said “I went to the set even when I didn’t have any shooting schedule because I missed seeing co-workers and staffs.†PD Jang said “This is the first time I shoot the drama having so much fun with actors. I enjoyed filming enough that I didn’t want to part. I hope the viewers also have fun watching like us.â€

Lee Dong-whi plays Gubook(meaning turtle) who is ‘Just frolicking dude’ and comic relief. He is witty guy who enjoys fooling around and playing jokes, but he acts pitiful in front of a woman. Lee is impressed about these realistic characters. “I even thought “Isn’t there actually an actor like Cha Young-bin, Cha Joon?†I wondered if I really acted a Gubook/turtle. Since I have never lived as turtle, it was hard to act. And I thought “Is it ok for me to have this much fun?†I felt and experienced a life (impressivley) I wanted to enjoy at least once in my life.â€

Be good show!

'Entourage', highly expected on Seo Kang-Jun

OSEN | 2016.10.29 10:31
201610261038774120_58100bc2db0fa_99_2016

[OSEN=Park So Young] He’s more than ‘A man from a cartoon book’. Simply, he’s just perfect to be called as ‘A man from the original version of the series’ and it’s Seo Kang-Jun that everyone’s talking about.

On November 4, first episode of tvN Friday-Saturday special drama ‘Entourge’ will be aired and Seo Kang-Jun will be appeared as a ‘Perfect man with everything’, Cha Young Bin. In the series, he’s the hottest celebrity in Korea who’s even envied by other celebrities.

In fact, Seo Kang-Jun and character Cha Young Bin have number of common things. Both of them try to enjoy their life as much as they can, and wish to describe that through plays. Simply, they are the ‘Cool Type’ of person. They do not have pretension and vaporing, but they think of cinematic quality as the most important one apart from being wealthy and popular.

Seo Kang-Jun thought of it as common characteristic. On October 25, production presentation of ‘Entourage’ was held and Seo Kang-Jun said, “I like to adjust myself to others but in terms of acting, I like to keep my own thoughts and I guess my such characteristic is very similar to Cha Young Bin’s oneâ€.

Moreover, characteristic similarity between Korean version of ‘Entourage’ and original version of ‘Entourage’ is almost the same. Producer Jang Young Woo said, “I had to cast perfect characters since characteristic is the most important thing in ‘Entourage’. I guess we matched characters perfectlyâ€.

201610261038774120_58100aff54242_99_2016

Seo Kang-Jun was highly loved in his previous series tvN ‘Cheese in the Trap’ with perfect matching with the character. When the news about making web-toon ‘Cheese in the Trap’ into TV series was released, people asked for Seo Kang-Jun as character Baek In Ho.

In the series, character Baek In Ho had wild characteristic with handsome appearance and it was a perfect character for Seo Kang-Jun. He attracted everyone with Baek In Ho in ‘Cheese in the Trap’. Simply, Baek In Ho came alive from the original cartoon book.

Now, it’s time for Cha Young Bin. Since the character itself is highly loved in the series as a celebrity, similarity between Cha Young Bin and Seo Kang-Jun is very high. Therefore, Seo Kang-Jun’s further plays in ‘Entourage’ is highly expected.
