2008 is complete. I left out a couple magazine spreads for their endorsements and those that weren't fashion based (for example they appeared 4-5 times in "Junior Magazine" Issues in 2008. Edit/remove as you'd like. Key didn't have any solo shoots in 2008, and not that many since then either so most of these are group shoots.

I hope they actually upload the full showcase, at this point I'm beginning to think they won't. They usually have the full thing up almost immediately after the live stream, right? Otherwise, hopefully someone else uploads the full thing. I'd prefer to watch that over just Key's cut.

It wasn't really anything major, I genuinely do not understand why it became so heated. Just another pointless argument. And yes, I'll post here from time to time, I like to compile links like this, I just dont enjoy the full responsibility of keeping things updated when I know I'll eventually lose the motivation to keep on top of things

Key starts his In The Heights musical tomorrow and while OH was down Lin-Manuel Miranda, the person who created ITH and played Usnavi on broadway, watched a clip of Key from the ITH showcase and noticed him on twitter

I watched this today and honestly, am I the only one who thinks Key dominated that stage? I never love Key as much as I do when Im watching him perform  

 

Im really excited for Key's future plans. I hope he's putting as much effort into acting/singing lessons as he is into the new gym routine. Cause as much praise as he received from drinking solo, he has a lot of room for improvement. Im happy just thinking about everything he could accomplish <33

I agree he has so much charisma on stage and I just love how into the performance he gets. I can't take my eyes off of him when he's performing, he's just so entertaining to watch.

 

I also hope he continues to improve in acting/singing and doesn't let the praises for his first drama go to his head 

 

I seriously cant stop playing his parts...i find him mesmerizing

I am from Panama. It's pretty hard they will ever make a concert here in my country, so I will have to go to them.

 

Do you think you would be able to go if they held concerts in SA again? I feel like thats your best bet unless you plan to travel to Korea/Japan. 

 

I'm happy you had a fun time at the concert  Would you say you're more of a fan now than before?

 

I think it would be hard for me to be a bigger fan than I was prior to the concert lol...but any doubts I had about Key being my bias (along with Jjong) are completely gone now (even if he does still annoy me about certain things  )

I never watched it too. Oh before i opened OH i was just thinking about how unique his voice is, esp his low register it's attractive. Wondering about vocal training too.

I think key already has it. When there's post about onjongkey letter, saying thanks to their vocal trainer. A couple pages before.

 

I wonder if they still take vocal lesson i the middle of their hectic schedule. Atleast in order to be healthy at singing, i hope so.

 

 

If he was so much casted in musicals it's not only for his idol image or his acting skills, he is undeniably one of stable vocal among SHINee and they believed in his vocal capacity, because each play is pure live, he can't screw up.   

 

I think they have still vocal training, you can see all of them are improving over the years. For Key it's pretty obvious I think. When you look at how he manage his high range, it's better and better, like in MTTM his parts are more stable, and now he throw high notes out of nowhere, hitting them pitch perfect (the infamous Like a Fire but also WANTED or in some of his ment during concert)

 

About his lower range I agree it's really beautiful, I like it more than his higher range, and I pray every day SM will let him explore this path more (for Taemin and Minho too). We have there and there beautiful parts when we can appreciate that (like in You're my lady from ToHeart, and recently Become Undone).

 

But for sure he had so much potential vocally, surprising us each time, and I hope it'll never stop.  

 

 

I actually dont think Key takes lessons at all, or maybe he does very sporadically. I know he must have when they were trainees but even then he did so much less than the others. Remember how he said once that he only trained on the weekends while everyone else trained all week?

 

I think he has improved over the years, yes, but I would attribute that more to the training he has gotten from all the live singing he's done. He gives me the impression that he doesn't believe he has to sing well cause thats not his role in the group and so he focuses more on standing out and sounding unique than he does on singing well. It bothers me a lot tbh, because I love his voice and it would be my favorite after jjong if he only learned how to use it properly. 

 

Yeah I agree. it's just that their lifestyle doesn't let them practice vocals really. And he's doing wonderfully with what little time he has.

 

Btw, I'm sorry if it's a bad topic, but Im kinda still discovering stuff qbout each of the members and I heard many people saying that his singing level had gone down or something. I listened to their albums over the years but I couldn't really get that. So what do you guys think?

He sounds more nasal to me, whereas in the first two years of his career he didnt. I think a large part of why people (including me) feel like his voice/singing has gotten worse is because shinee's music changed a lot from their music in 08-09. In my opinion he suits the types of songs found in The SHINee World much more than their more recent music.

mte. I do enjoy the sound of his voice, esp when he uses it well so i really do get frustrated. But i also understand he is someone who would cut his losses and focus on other aspects to stay 'competitive' (i think he used that term in an interview before). As much as i enjoy his voice, it seems that he isn't in demand as a singer and it would be a long shot for him to be promoted as a solo, even if he trains his voice. Of course i would love to see this turn around for him.

 

 

Sort of on this topic...@etudette, a couple weeks ago i was really curious about keys singing in a couple SHINee songs. I forget my questions now tho, smh. Idk much about this vocal stuff so would you mind if i ask about it when i remember again ?

i think especially if he plans to continue to do musicals, that should be enough motivation for him to train more. I love his voice, but he's not going to have a long career in anything if he continues to rely on fan loyalty instead of working to appeal to non-fans through his ability on the stage. He already has the stage presence and the acting ability (though of course theres always room for growth). imagine if he improved his vocal skills?? *_____*

Whew it took me some tries to focus on their singing I was flowing in my feels and their cuteness and enjoying . Anyways, yes when comparing them the first one has a richer tone, its coming from the abdomen. In the recent one it sounds a bit 1-D. Another thing is that he ends the lines abruptly. In the second perf, even if he changed only that, it would have overall given a much more pleasing effect to it.

 

To me, he kinda switches between these two (talking abt now). Sometimes he'll be like the old times, and sometimes not. Which is why I thought its his stylistic choice or something, not anything to do with regression. Clearly i need to watch more live perfs of that time.

 

ive prob watched every live performance of his since his debut lol, and i can tell you for sure, post 2009, his performances were almost always like the second one.

Maybe he didn't know that Key unfollowed him a while back and thought he unfollowed him over Woohyun's scandal?? I'd be mad enough to delete all my pictures with someone if I thought they believed bad rumors about me.

 

It's clear that they've drifted apart over the years but that usually happens with Key's friendships, they're joined at the hip for a while then drift apart. Even his longest running celeb friendship with Nicole isn't as tight as it used to be.
