When Will 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' Restart Production?

BY JORDIANNE CORNEJO ON  08/30/16 AT 6:33 AM

Dylan O'Brien will return to the set of “Maze Runner: The Death Cure†in February.

The production of the final installment in the “Maze Runner†series of films was halted in March because of an accident that injured O'Brien, but things will start rolling again next year, according toDeadline.

The production was first scheduled to resume on May 9, but Fox had decided to stall the production indefinitely.

In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Fox said: “The resumption of principal photography on 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' has been further delayed to allow Dylan O'Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.â€

Speculations that the movie will start rolling again started swirling after O'Brien was spotted for the first time in public after the accident in early August.

A photo of him with a Jamba Juice employee made rounds online and shocked fans. The usually polished O'Brien was sporting long hair and a bushy beard in the photo. He was also dressed casually.

While the actor looked like he had already recovered, he has yet to comment on what had happened. O'Brien reportedly suffered facial fracture, a concussion and facial lacerations because of the accident.

O'Brien's accident was described in a report byiNFOnews.ca, which read: “[A] young worker was attached to a vehicle by harness, lanyard and overhead truss system when he climbed onto the back [of] another vehicle. As the vehicles slowed, the trailing vehicle the worker was anchored to slowed more rapidly than the vehicle the worker climbed onto.â€

The release of “Maze Runner: The Death Cure†was moved from Feb. 17, 2017 to Jan. 12, 2018. The movie will still be directed by Wes Ball, who helmed its predecessors, “Maze Runner†and “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.â€
