Why in Spanish CoEd groups >> Boys groups and Girls groups?

I wonder why is that, if you think of USA/EUROPA/ASIA groups (successful groups) I can name you BG and GG but Coed groups are like nonexistent yet in spanish (L.A and Spain) most of their big groups in history are Coed, from Timbiriche to Camela to La Oreja de Van Gosh to RBD, Kudai etc etc I can keep going with successful Coed groups, for GG I can only name Las Ketchup and for BG maybe Camila and some dúos like Andy y Lucha or Sin Bandera.

Why do you thing for Hispanic countries Coed groups work better?

Good question. The only group I'm a bit familiar with is RBD and as far as I know, the fans shipped the members, didn't they?? Maybe the fans are interested in the possible romantic interactions in the group. That possibly has something to do with it.

In Latin America, fans don't really expect their idols to sacrifice their love life.

rbd had a lot of shippers (like me) so it worked. I'm guessing the other spanish coed groups had fandoms like that too, idk why it doesn't work out in other countries though

Actually RBD was more because of Rebelde. And no, I can't think of shippers in the spanish coed groups.

OV7  (damn I'm old ... )

Like other mentioned, latino/spanish artists date freely, they marry, divorce etc... I guess we just don't share the same thinking of our artists, it's their lives and we love chismes XD

well yes but it was a novela where they played characters that dated each other. I've seen a lot of shippers for rbd actually but I'm not familiar with the other groups so maybe it was just the case for them

RBD ship tho...XD

In the novela Roberta (Dulce Maria) dated Diego (Christopher) and Mía (Anahi) dated Miguel (Alfonso) in real life Dulce and Alfonso were dating and is know that Anahi and Christopher were dating too.

Bit I don't think is it a shipper thing, Jesse and Joy and bro/sis and nobody shipped LDVG or La Quinta Estación members, not that I remember.

Exactly because of that, and some of them dated IRL so yeah, the novela and them dating each other was mostly the reason they had shippers.

Then idk what makes coed groups in other countries not work, I'm sure the fangirls in Mexico are just as obsessive over their idols dating their group members (when they're not too busy shipping them together like rbd)

Lol, most of them probably slept with each other (except the gay one, I forgot his name). BTW, wth happened to Christopher Uckerman??

Yeah, I think ships could apply to younger groups, but in general, I believe the gender composition of a group is irrelevant to the Spanish-speaking audience. What is one of the reasons why groups in SK, for example, are coed?? Isn't it because fans are overly protective of their biases and aren't so accepting of relationships?? As we have concluded, Latin Americans aren't like that, so that wouldn't be an incentive to create an only male or only female group. I also don't know if coed group are more popular than single-sex groups. At least here, in Mexico, there are dozens of male groups in the regional music scene, which are extremely popular. Other examples would be Camila, Sin Bandera, Panda, Zoe, Reik, etc.

There's coed Western groups just no really ships them and aren't categorized as coed groups just group/band or duo.

To name a few relevant ones

Fleetwood Mac

Lady Antebellum

Black Eyed Peas

The Fugees

Arcade Fire

Former duo White Stripes

Evanescence

To me, there's a difference between groups and bands and, as in kpop, i'd not classify in the same way groups like Camila and Sin Bandera with groups like OV7 and RBD who are a little bit more idol-like (you know, singing and dancing and not really the balladists(?)), when it comes to these groups i do think co-ed is more popular
