Hi fellow creative peeps!
 
I have been posting my EXO-inspired fan projects on the Sehun official thread, and suggested that we should start an EXO fan art thread, so here it is!
 
Everyone is welcome to post, either your own or other's amazing work you found (but please respect the artist's instructions - see note below). If it's your own art, please include a few lines about your inspirations, software/materials/tools used, etc. I think we are all very much interested in knowing your creative art making process
 

Friendly reminder to those who post artwork not their own: keep in mind that some artists do not want their work reposted! Your intentions may be good, and you may even give credit, but be considerate of those who don't want reposts done. Consider just sharing a direct link instead.

So to be a good example lol, I'm going to start off with my own. Most of my projects are posted on Instagram (@threequarterillustration) and Facebook plus Tumblr to a certain degree, but I'll add more here when I've time.

I admit I suck at portraiture and caricature since day 1, so most of my work are simply minimalist style designs. So far I've a number of Sehun and EXO-inspired stickers, some hand-drawn illustrations of SHINee though, and most recently a paper model (see below).

LOTTO_CITY
Inspiration/Idea _ EXO's Lotto Album. When I saw the stacked chips album cover, it immediately reminded me of high rise towers... so I thought why not construct my own Lotto city using paper, and build my own EXO towers.
Software _ Adobe Illustrator for drawing and designing the cylinder template
Materials _ Colour laser print on card stock
Tools _ Scissors, cutting knife, and alcohol-based all purpose adhesive to cut and assemble everything

As I'd spent my past life in architecture school, there's a reference to architectural components of mixed use buildings - podium, tower, and complex (combination of podium and tower) because I'm such a geek. Seriously the Lotto album cover reminded me of the parking garage tower in Chicago

As for why I chose Sehun, Chen, and Kai for the towers - Sehun is my bias, 21 is my favourite number, and I'm trying to promote Lotto Kai in my own way

That's a really good tip! I guess I usually direct link the fan art posts so never thought of others who might save and repost. I hope you don't mind I quoted you in the original post to remind others when they share lovely fan work.

 

And thank you Yes I've been so stress from work lately that cutting tiny pieces of paper with precision using a knife became therapeutic for me lol

I guess it's around 10 hours max in total? But I did it over a week so it was pretty chill and fun for me as a stress reliever. The designing on computer took 2-3 hours (but 30 minutes of that was trying to match the fonts at first glance who knew even as a graphic designer it was 2 different fonts for e)(o and the rest of the text/numbers), maybe 2-3 hours to cut all the pieces out, then another 2-3 hours to glue everything?

 

The most challenging part for me was the filming though, which took well over an hour including a few other photos and footage I took I don't know any video editing other than the built-in video function on Instagram, so I ended up being super low-tech blasting the music on another device in the background, filming with my left hand holding my phone, and moving everything with my right hand

Yeah I was thinking of using a tripod which I don't have one atm or attaching my phone to something, but then I'm a lazy newbie to video/film-making... so screw it and my hand it is. I supposed I can get a friend to help out, but we'll probably giggle forever and you'll see a shaky wtf video

 

Oh also if you know others who drew or did creative stuff with EXO, please let them know and encourage them to post their work here! That being said I've yet to go through the artist thread yet and invite people, but I'm having a headache now so later this week it is /_\

Wow,OP, you are so creative.Those chips are so well done and clean,i can't even tell they are made from paper. Love them.

That D.O fanart is amazing.I want to learn drawing in ink and watercolor too.

 

I guess i will share my only Exo-related fanart.It's a Luhan one but i want to draw all of them in the future.Done in Photoshop with a graphic tablet.I don't draw traditional way too much this days.It's kind of a sketch so it's not that good and it's a bit messy.I've always liked him with blonde hair so that was my inspiration.
