What could Truedy have done differently?

As many of you know, Truedy is the infamous winner of Unpretty Rapstar 2. She started out cast as a completely unknown nugu and essentially achieved overnight fame with the mass attention she quickly received from both Koreans and International netizens with her impressive skill and unique style.

This changed when she was soon accused of having a shitty attitude, cultural appropriation and copying the rap style and voice of Yoon Mirae/Tasha. All of this happening while she virtually killed her entire competition, acting as the front-runner of the and overall being raved by the hip hop community by winning and/or receiving praise to high degrees each episode. It was like two massive air balloons filling and preparing to crash into each other.. and they did when she won.

Beyond releasing a half-ass collab with Ailee and promoting an Adidas CF for UR3 she has amounted to nothing but being remembered as a hybrid of racism and Yoon Mirae. What could she have done different? Would she had even received her buzz and won in the first place if not for her look and copying Tasha? And what does she do going into the future?

Stop trying to be black, claiming to be black, tryna be Rachel Dolezal 2.0, appropriating AA culture, stop trying to get exposed all the time for all of the bullshit from above, stop having shitty lyrics, stop attempting at everything

Alot, tbh. Tragic really

This. Apparently she hinted at being black in one of her songs but she's fully Korean? Lol

Overall I'm not too much of a fan because she doesn't really have her own style. It's just a copy of Yoon Mi Rae whether it's accidental or not.

this was one of her lyrics

"This is Truedy flow feel ma voice / Check ma soul I’m from Seoul, can you believe it? Seoul City soul / The first black people in Korea / I’ve never been under but I’ve been to the real bottom / I came up here without anyone, all by myself".

She won? How did she even win omg

favoritism it became even more apparent that mnet CHOSE HER as the winner because when truedy and yezi had togo up against eachother in a DISS battle...emphasis on DISS battle... yezi actually dissed where as truedy was just spitting over some old rhymes she had spat already on the new beat and there was no dissing on her end at all yet she ended up winning..people tried to justify it by saying

'its for a track so obviously they're gonna go with the verse that will sound better on the track" and im like no..thats bullshit because  yezi isn't stupid she knows she'd have to have a different verse for the official release of the track all yezi did was follow the rules aka actually come out full swinging with her lyrical content at the diss battle and truedy did not do that..

Being perfectly honest. The whole issue of appropriation or claiming to be black wouldn't have mattered a fuck ounce to her standing in korea, which is where her primary market is.

The issue of why she really failed cause korean rappers don't rely on international fans:

1. Tasha similarity (Playing this up was beneficial initially but backfired in the long run due to other aspects)

2. Recycled lyrics (It became very obvious very quickly that she was just regurgitating lyrics from song she'd made long before the series started. This didn't enamor the general public to her, cause she was coasting whereas everyone else for better or worse was creating new lyrics[or had somebody else doing it for them, but that's another topic])

3. Gilme's call out (This was the greatest dent to her. Gilme is a well respected rapper in her own right and her call out basically threw all of Truedy's credibility out the window with the vieweship

4. Her attitude (Initially it enamored people to her, cause people thought Truedy was much younger than she actually is. But when people find out you're not Jidam's age but one of the oldest contestants, your childish persona goes from positive to negative)

5. Blatant Mnet favoritism. Truedy was as favored as Jimin was the season before, but also clearly being pushed as the winner regardless of public backlash and that only came to a head with the contract reveals.

Those are the reasons Truedy did not take off.

Yezi was my favorite yet i saw people hating on her for some reason. I think that if you have to be on a show where you have to be real and diss people you should do that properly. This is such a mess she didn't deserve this bullshit

she signed a contract to mnet before the show lol

no it doesnt matter if she didnt look like tasha bc i think her main problem was her disgusting lyrics

Yep, plus she went up against Yezi , and even though she know how badly they edited Yezi to look like a gimp she false claimed Yezi was a bully or something .....

Luckily K-nets knew the score , Yezi was a queen.

Also I don't get the hype some people had with Truedy , she seemed to bring raps she had rehearsed 6 months ago.

Boring lyrics while Yezi had some fire and great word play.
