BoA -Eat You Up

Seeing CL's American advancement, I've been recounting which other kpop artists from big agencies tried to penetrate this market. There's WG for JYP and I remembered for SM it was BoA's Eat You Up just now.

I've seen this on MTV prior to me becoming a kpop fan and I actually thought she's Japanese. Apart from the sublime title, I actually liked this song. Plus the dance is amazing. One of his backup dancers is Kenny Wormald, he starred in Center Stage--he's hot.

JYP: Rain, WG

SM: SNSD BOA

YG: Seven, 2ne1/CL

Great MV and song for Boa unfortunately that's the korean version and they choose this disaster for the US:

LOL I DIDN'T KNOW THERE'S ANOTHER VERSION OF THIS. The song is still jam-worthy in 2016

How did BoA do anyway?

i don't really know but not that good, but SM didn't go fully in (like JYP) so limited loss, no harm.

My theory the best way to break in is to make a partnership with the big3 + 2 or 3 kindie label and try together instead of wasting their efforts individually. The appeal of kpop is not only in the music but in how the industry is working comparatively to their western counterparts and this would only be perceivable if there are several acts promoting/competing as the same time in the same area.

BoA was the first k-idol I ever loved before I really knew what kpop was. Her entire english album was my sixth grade jam.

I know right, plus this song is such a bop and she's so fierce in this. I like this image on her

Too bad, the song's actually good.

Well, I agree with you. By the looks of it, I don't think SM is going to push any of their artists in the US right now, perhaps in the far future. But didn't they partnered with a big label for SNSD's American debut? I remember that version with Snoop Dogg
