Why is No Mans Sky getting so much hate?

they hate on it because they either don't get the hype, mad cause they broke af and can't buy the game, or they were one of those people back when they thought no man's sky was going to follow their original design but they changed it completely

I think the gaming community kind of set itself up for that one.

It's an indie game made by like 15 people. Of course it wasn't going to be a huge amazing universe with interesting things to do.

It's just a survival game with procedural generated maps.

I like the game, to be honest. I didn't read a lot of the articles about it so I wasn't caught up in most of the hype. I knew it was from a smaller team so my expectations were tempered by that. It's not an exciting, action-filled game and if that's the type of game gamer "X" likes, gamer "X" will be disappointed. To me, it's a fairly relaxing exploration/survival simulation that's a nice diversion after playing more action-oriented games.

the hype was ridiculous, while the whole time it was obvious it wasn't going to be that kind of massive release.

i thought it was clear from the get-go it wasn't gonna be that be like that...

but whatever, the community will repeatedly make the same mistakes and fall for the same shit every time.

Sums it up pretty well

lol i remember watching that gametrailers event live. Brandon was getting really mad when he was questioning the game and the others were giving him shit because they were caught up in the hype and were blinded by it.

People got carried away and the devs are also to blame. All in all it seems like an interesting game for how it was developed and the generating stuff idea but I always knew the "do whatever you want" was just bullshit, I mean those type of statements are pretty vague, since it tells you nothing concrete about the game so just by reading the description of the game I already knew it was going to be something boring and repetitive. I mean people who like exploring might like this but even if they do like the concept I also don't think this is a 60 bucks game.

the devs ovehyped the game

years of experience taught me to never believe those BS so all the promos and hype that the devs did and websites did was just trip the BS alarm in my head and the game just dropped off my list of games i'm interested in and i guess my BS alarm still works

As others have said over-promised, under-delivered and overpriced.

But, I have 64 hours played because, as an explorer, I'm enjoying the game. I like to find every animal on planets and every planet in each system.

I was annoyed that the system that I started in was already explored, so I deleted the save and restarted.

If you see any of these systems. That's me.

lol the clipping! the bugs! is this for real???

I don't know why the people like the game in the first place. It seemed very uninteresting, the only thing to look forward were the graphics. I don't think graphics is good enough reason to buy the game.
