In your opinion, why SM neglect f(x) ?

In this Kpop world, negligence is common, especially under the big agencies (2ne1, Park Ji Min) or under mostly every groups (Hyoyeon, Jia, Minzy ect. ) If often, the reason of this negligence is obvious (not enough pretty, unpopular, any talent), sometimes not so much. So, I want to know your theory about why f(x) is the ugly step-daughter at Sm Ent ? I just can't understand their logic. Heck, they are the 2nd best-selling albums girls band this year, land a lot of CFs, have a big fanbase even if SM ent doesn't promote them properly. So why when they have the potential to be bigger ? Why when they can earn money by giving them a fanclub name or some concerts ? I just don't understand.

I don't know if someone else made a thread like that. I searched but found nothing. So if it's the case, sorry.  :)

They're the least profitable act in SM's active roster. Tbh they are lucky to still be getting yearly comebacks with their promo period overlapping. If SM really wanted to maximize profit, they'd squeeze in another act in favor of f(x).

i don't understand, tbh. f(x) was only given one fan-sign this year and they were able to sell ~80,000 albums. they're one of the few girl groups in korea who can easily sell 100k+ albums if given a proper promotion. i think SM underestimates f(x)'s fandom

It's no such thing as negligence. It's just annoying fans that don't understand it's all about money.

It's negligence with regards to the fact that save for Danger/Hot Summer in 2011, SME never really tried, ergo, they themselves set how much f(x) could make rather than maximizing profits

Look at this quote. It perfectly illustrates how fans don't understand a thing.

"only given one fan-sign"

WTF?

Why do you think members would want to do lots of fansigns?

Do people not understand that fansigns = unpaid work that idols are forced to do?

According to SM, f(x) aren't up to their standard. Ridiculous really. But it's how the industry works. You pull in less money and sales = less promotion, concerts, merchandise etc.

What is really stupid about the whole thing is that f(x) were never marketed or cultivated to be the next best girl group and have massive sales and fan base. They cater to a niche market and experiment with a different genre. So somehow SM expects them to have all the good sales and huge fanbase when they never even produced for them to be that way.

Tell me, which girl groups do you think make more money than f(x)?

Why I see so many Exotic making this type of thread about f(x) nowadays?? :donthinkso:

You guys trying so hard to shade f(x), please it is ENOUGH

I'm not even an Exotic but okay. It's not a thread to make fun of f(x). I just wanted to read what you guys think of this situation. If anyone understand the weird logic (if it's even logic at this rate) of SM ent. I mean, if they really tried and promoted them like they had promoted their other groups, f(x) could be in the space right now. But no, they just give them the minimum and they still outsells other groups who are promoted like crazy. It's a lot of money they lost every year by acting like that, and I just can't understand them. They don't even have a fanclub name, when we all know it's the best opportunity for agencies to milk some money.

I think sm is just seing pushing fx further is financially no use for them, sadly ....

If you look, sm cash cows are all the huge groups except for tvxq in japan ...

fx will never be able to be on the same level as snsd or suju popularity wise... Even though they have such great potential .. its such a shame

How is the OP shading F(X) when they're praising F(x) and saying they don't understand why SM is neglecting them

Because the OP has two EXO things...Come on, now

Are u f(x) themselves???

I'm pretty sure that they would welcome to do more than ONE fansigns. It is not like fans expect them to do 20 fansigns+

Its easier and a more efficient use of money to just focus promotions on 1 group and make sure that group becomes hella huge.

If they promote f(x) that means less money for the more profitable acts in their roster (SNSD, EXO, etc)

It also means maybe f(x) would compete for fanbase/merchandise purchases with fellow labelmates too.. so SM probably just brings them out once in a while to make moolah while focussing on the bigger groups.

Its like making sure the most efficient employee does the hard work and only calling in the intern when there's capacity. Unfair and somewhat cruel, but such is the nature of the corporate world..

B.E.S.T reply tbh. So it's that so ? But what about the boys groups ? They keep pushing EXO and SHINee. Aren't those two "competing" against each others ? This logic doesn't work for boys band....

OP is a SISTAR fan btw

The op cant be an EXO fan becuz she/he is fan of Sistar??

look at under her/his profile, oh well--maybe you are right, he/she just has EXO lightstick for fun.

Oh well, we can ask the OP. Op, are u a fan of Exo??

if not, my bad for accusing it is all from EXO fans. I'm just being irritated to see the same EXACTLY topic like this being asked by some EXo fans here.

The first time, maybe for curiosity, second-to make sure, but more than 3 time it is no longer just asking for innocent opinions.
