Does anyone know what you can do with this degree?

Hi!

I was aspiring to join Med School but due to a tale of misfortunes that ended up with me missing to get in time for the entrance exam, thus resulting in having no other way to join Med School in my country, I ended up settling for a Biology major out of passion for this field in general. However realistically speaking, I have no idea what I can possibly do with a Biology degree or what academic level (only bachelor's or a masters, doctorate degree..) I have to achieve in order to get a respectful job in this field. All I know is after a couple of years, you may be able to get to Pharmacy or med school if you get phenominal grades + entrance exam acceptance. But what can a biology degree offer other than that? What can you do with it? What highly paid job you can get with it as well as what's at "the bottom of the barrel" jobs are there?

I'm sorry if this was too long to read, I really want to pursue a career in this field but I can't seem to see a future past the next semester, I have no idea what there is for me.

Please no trolls or hatefull people, any advice, info, would be appreciated.

You can do what I am currently in the process of doing, becoming a certified medical coder. I don't even think you need a biology degree, you just need to take the right classes and pass the medical coding test. After you pass the test and get your certificate you can get hired at a hospital. I am currently doing this to get a footing into the medical field and gain experience. I'm trying to become a PA

Thank you for your reply! I will try to research more about CMC. Also good luck in becoming a PA.

Hi there...my cousin was actually in the same boat as you...but that her application mysteriously got lost at the Med school's care.. :._.: She graduated with a BSc ...majoring in Biology and minors in Chemistry...she now works at our country's bio security level of the airport ...It's also good pay at least in my side of the world....so I'm not really sure about your career path but it helps to take some minors just in case it comes in handy...another fam of mine did Biology in Uni with minors in Education and is now a high school science teacher....I mean you can see the contrast right there...my cousin at the airport gets paid more than my science teacher cousin gets no doubt...but I do think there are other highly paid jobs out there than the one I referred to...

Research field or other good jobs at big laboratories can be very well spotted. I think Biology is very interesting and would easily follow as a teacher (teaching at university is a very stable job and the payment is not bad). But if you really want med school then you should keep trying it.
