I do. When I was in dorms as an undergraduate we had these tiny student kitchens in our hall that always looked like shit because nobody ever bothered cleaning up after themselves. Also people would steal your crockery/kettles if you left them there. They were tiny and rectangular with those clever rows of cabinets that are made for maximum storage in minimum space. If I wanted to cook something properly I'd set out twenty minutes early to at least clean the parts of stove/counter I needed to use so that I wouldn't catch some horrible bacteria previously unknown to mankind.

It was a relief as a postgrad to move into houses which had marginally better appointed kitchen. Then again my first roommates always left everything dirty too. So I am happy to now live with my boyfriend (I am still a postgraduate student) so we have worked out a cleaning rota and we make each other stick to it.

yes, I cook my meals whenever I have spare time, mostly I dine out.

since I live in a share house so there's only one fridge and kitchen. we have unwritten rules that if we want to put the food in the fridge we must put a label in our own food, also every month the landlady asked us some money to buy LP gas (yea we still use a gas stove to cook)

I rented a room off-campus my first year--an old two-story house shared w/ other people going to the same uni. All girls sans one boy. I was on the lower level with three other girls, and there was a small room on our floor with a microwave and a sink. Sometimes there would be dishes, plates and utensils stacked IN the sink for weeks. It was kind of disgusting and I'm surprised to this day how our house was roach- and pretty much bug-free.

The top level was where the kitchen was and I often went up there to make simple meals. I only remember dealing with a nasty fridge leak, and two or three of us decided to mop it up. The kitchen was far from spotless but at least the sink wasn't stacked w/ unwashed dishes.

Yeah, I missed out on dorm life since I was a transfer student and they took away the option for transfer students to dorm when I transferred so I had to cook for myself since I was living in apartments. My first year of living in the apartments, I often ate out because I wanted to try out some of the restaurants in the area but eventually I started to cook my own meals to save money.

grad student now, am living off campus. I cook, but mostly simple foods (if I'm lazy, I eat out). When I lived off-campus my junior and senior year, I cooked too. I love oven roasted potatoes and stir frying food. Lately, I've gotten into salads in an attempt to eat better. Since I lived and am living with roommates, the kitchen can get quite messy and crowded. It was gross, lol
